Rodriguez Brothers Family Reunion Boogie ROLL CALL
skydiver30960 replied to Antigua's topic in Events & Places to Jump
1.) Mapquest sez it's a 5hr, 35min drive. 2.) I need to stop into work at 7AM Friday. Ergo, expect my arrival at 12:35 on Friday. Hide the virgins. Elvisio "virgins in this crowd, who am I kidding" Rodriguez -

Funny that we're both members of that CU and we both live way down here. My mom lives in PA and used to be a state employee, and children of members are eligible to be members, so here I am. Seriously sweet loan deals through PSECU. I'm keeping my account open for that reason alone. Elvisio "too bad I can afford the payment even with a sweet interest rate" Rodriguez

Help from Doctors (and possibly lawyers?) on here....
skydiver30960 replied to lisamariewillbe's topic in The Bonfire
C'mon now, take it easy. You came here asking for help, and people here are trying to do just that. I know you feel persecuted and are in a situation that has you feeling a bit defensive, but remember that you started this conversation and the folks here are just trying to cover all the bases for you. M'kay? I think the first steps have been laid out to you: get the chart and as much information from medical billing as you can. I'm a nursing student, and I've worked the past year at my local ER as a tech, helping nurses do what they do. I can tell you the amount of documentation reqired of a nurse is awesome: if they fart into the wind they need to write it down in three different places. So if it was done, it'll be documented. Remember that ER personnel have a hard job; all day long they deal with people in various states of illness, oftentimes without any obvious cause. The testing they do seems frivolous to many, but actually is necessary for the doctors to have the full picture before they can properly treat their patients. All it would take is one misdiagnosis because they didn't want to burden the patient with extra cost, and the court case would be huge. We have technology that allows us to diagnose and treat illnesses that would be considered otherworldly even a few years ago. The good news to this is that sick folks are being saved that otherwise would have died (or been disabled for life); the bad news is that this technology costs lots of money. By all means, see this to the end. I just ask that you make sure you have all the information available to you before you give yourself an ulcer over it. And regardless of the outcome, remember the most important thing: you are alive, and healthy. Give your boyfriend a big hug for being there for you, and live your life to its fullest. Gee... I wonder if obesity is becoming a problem.
skydiver30960 replied to ccowden's topic in Speakers Corner
WHAT'S WORSE: every EMS agency has a patient or two in their response area that doesn't fit a stretcher of ANY size. We have a guy who goes around 800 lbs who, when he needs to come to the hospital, gets a ride to the ambulance on four backboards (able to support 500 pounds each) that have been lashed together. Then to get him in the ambulance we have to take the cot out, and remove the hardware that holds the cot in place in the back of the ambulance, then we just slide him onto the floor of the ambulance. He takes up the WHOLE FLOOR: the people rendering care on the way to the hospital have to kneel on the bench seats and reach down to check his pulse or BP or whatever. This is definitely a worst-case scenario, but it is a situation that's getting worse. More and more often, we're having to call for additional manpower to get obese clients out of their homes; sometimes six or more EMT's or firefighters to move one patient. In the past, people who were morbidly obese for whatever reason usually died relatively young from problems that either caused or were caused by their obesity: uncontrolled diabetes, heart failure, whatever. Now, we have technology to help them stay alive so much longer, but we can't force them to change their habits, so they just live longer and get fatter. Bush Eases Environmental Rules on Gas!
skydiver30960 replied to goofyjumper's topic in Speakers Corner
Oh, I believe it totally. The way GWB is looking at it, people are bitching about the cost of gas, he REALLY needs a win right now, and this is a good and EASY way for him to look like he's doing something to help Joe Everyman. Problem is, I agree with other posts on this thread, the only thing it'll do is put more $$$ in the pockets of the companies. Gas is a supply and demand product: as long as people are willing to pay $3 a gallon, they'll keep charging $3 a gallon. Shit, wouldn't you? If you knew you could do twenty tandems at your DZ per day, and had enough people calling to fill your schedule every day regardless of if you charged $150 per tandem or $300 per tandem, which would you charge? It does suck, though. Elvisio "need a smaller car" rodriguez -
This is my thought as well. The article makes it sound like he wasn't carrying at the time, that he had to go somewhere to get the gun. I'm a CCW holder myself, but if he had the chance to get away from the dog to go somewhere else (house, garage, whatever) to get the gun, then his life was no longer in danger. He could have called the cops or Animal Control and everything would have been fine. To go back out once he's in a place of safety and cap the dog is a little hard to label as self defense.

Ah, wargames, what a great flick. Moviequotes.com helps me out with a couple of Joshua's lines: "Greetings, Dr. Falken. Would you like to play a game?" and later, towards the end of the movie, hopelessly fraught with 80's drama and import: "Strange game: the only winning move is not to play." That rolling stone article was a blast for me: I spent about eight months working for an office owned and run by a husband-wife team, both of which (along with a couple of the other office workers) were Scientologists. While on one hand they swore they were never going to push us towards Scientology as a religion, they freely used LRH's "business management" system, which just happened to use so many of the ideas and vocabulary of the religion. Throughout the article, the people the author spoke to kept using terms that made me jump in my seat they were so familiar: in- and out-ethics, up- and down-statistics, suppressive persons, withholds, all that good stuff. For the most part I was unimpressed with all of it. Nobody ever mentioned it, but there were AWESOME amounts of money coming into that office, but there never seemed to be enough to pay the bills (or us on time, thus one of the reasons for my jumping ship). So while I never saw anything even remotely like checks written out to the Church of Scientology, it always made me wonder. The breaking point for me was when we all had to go to a seminar (over a weekend no less, can't miss work time) that touted to help the office work better as a team. It was three days related to the business system that were surprisingly light in content, but had more covert references to Scientology than I care to count. That, and every night, not mandatory but just in case you were interested, a showing of a movie based on Dianetics and a question and answer session afterword. Needless to say, I skipped all the showings. I quit the week after, and I know at least one other employee did the same (she beat me to the punch by a couple days). I've been asking the same question about the leather fire boots I've been issued with my fire department and rescue squad (separate organizations, two pairs of identical boots). Everyone is saying I'm stuck just breaking them in the old fashioned way: by wearing them. The first time in them was a five hour structure fire about two weeks ago. I was crippled for DAYS afterword from the blisters on the backs of my heels... I'm just now getting back to normal. I'm just going to try to wear them a little bit at a time whem I'm hanging around the station waiting on a call. Elvisio "hurts to look good in new gear" Rodriguez
