  1. Breathing in. Breathing out. Sometimes I think the yearning is worse when I haven't jumped for a while. Right now I think it's worse when I've just had an awesome weekend and I'm back at work. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

    Sabre2 nose

Is the Sabre2 the only canopy with those stiffeners on the nose? I'd never seen them before I got mine. Do they really make a difference? Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  3. Good choice! We had a black lab and you could not have asked for a nicer dog. He was playful, friendly, gentle, just fantastic. Very sadly he died from cancer at about the age of 10, I still miss him when I go home to see my folks. 3 bits of advice: (1) don't buy a black lab as a guard dog (ours was more more likely to lick the burglar than bit him), (2) don't have cream coloured carpets and a black dog and (3) beware of stealth poos behind the sofa on said cream carpet! 4. I got my Skyline 0.3 on Friday (ordered it on Monday) and put 12 jumps on it over the weekend, I thought I'd post my thoughts. Pros: Lovely lense, feels nice and heavy. Nice image, no vignetting, very little distortion. Really small diameter and depth. 30mm thread so no need for 37 - 30 conversion ring. Chris was very helpful, replied to emails quickly. Quick delivery (4 days from Germany to the UK). Cheaper than a Diamond 0.3. Cons: It's wide enough that it just catches the edge of my FFX helmet in the corner of the picture but I guess you could zoom in a tiny bit to avoid it if you wanted. There's a gap between the back of the actual lense and the back of lense unit, I had to find some compressed air to clean out a few bits of dust. (Rubbish picture attached to illustrate what I mean.) No lense cap. All in all I'm really pleased. I've been using a Kenko 0.5 but for nice close freefly and wingsuit stuff it's just not wide enough, the 0.3 performed really well. Chris even threw in a free pair of goggles. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  5. In a quiet moment at work I found this on the BirdMan website, a nice 3.5 min film (9mb, wmv) on wingsuits with Andy Ford. Was this aired on tv as part of something? Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  6. I had a good look at the pack tray of my container (Teardrop SF) last night, trying to imagine how it would pack up if I had the corners unstitched. My one concern is that without the stitching all the tension is running down the middle of the bottom flap and that will make the corners will bulge out, exposing the lines sat in the bottom of the tray. It's almost as if the bottom flap could use some 'ears' to tuck inside the left and right flaps to tidy everything up. I suppose it's not an irrecoverable mod, you could have the corners stitched up again if you wanted? I'll talk it over with some riggers tomorrow. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

Ok, I tried it last night - it was actually pretty easy and didn't look too different to normal. I haven't left it packed like that but I may try jumping it like that this weekend. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

  9. Works for me. This bypasses the front page. It's all quite Flash heavy so you may need plugins and stuff. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  10. try this There have been a few posts on this recently, try doing a search. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  11. Normally I'd credit your average /. reader with being a bit more sceptical so this one made me laugh (talking about the Tomb Raider birdman stunt): *sigh* Gus Edited because too much coffee induces the shakes and impairs my ability to type OutpatientsOnline.com
  12. There's a vote on cnn... At the moment, "An attention-seeking episode" is in the lead, maybe these muggles aren't as clueless as they seem . Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  13. Remi's right. Good, cheap, German wine. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  14. I think it's a great idea. At least half my jumps have been 2 ways with one of the guys that was on the same AFF course as me and is now my best mate. After a couple of hundred jumps together we're not too bad! It's nice because after a while things like levels aren't an issue and you can concentrate much more on other stuff. And if you're learning at the same rate neither of you are ever bored watching the other flail around . Do careful though, especially with the higher speeds of headdown, it's incredibly easy to loose control for a split second and damage your best friend! Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

There's quite a nice one on the pd website. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  16. So your open corners are completely open such that the bottom flap would lie totally flat against the ground? Is that the mod that Wings offers or did you have it done by someone else? Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  17. I asked my friendly local rigger what he thought about open corners and his opinion was this: Fine if it's for a dedicated birdman rig, not a good idea on an all-purpose rig. Why? Because if your pin comes out prematurely the dbag will be held in place (to some extent) by the fact that you've squished it between the bottom of the reserve and the bottom of the container. If you open up the corners you loose that. Does anyone have any opinions or experiences to the contrary? Would partially opening the corners give me the best of both worlds? Am I just wasting everyone's time? Asking too many question? Is the Moon really made of cheese? Thanks! Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

I'll let you know what it's like. Infact it's more like 135 degress: 90 degree rotation in the container + the 45 degrees that it's leaving your back at. Here's an idea: if you haven't opened up the corners of your container might you want the dbag to rotate so it can rotate over the lip at the bottom of the container rather than trying to pull right through it? I recently got a huge bridle put on, about 10 feet, and I'm definitely getting more consistent openings but I haven't tried packing grommet up. What's the downside to doing this? What isn't it standard for all jumps? I'll try it at home tonight but my hunch is that the depth of my dbag isn't the same as it's height, which might stop it fitting properly if I pack grommet up. 20. 540 jumps in 3 years - despite the British weather! Don't worry about the slow pace, it's like that when you're a student - but it gets better I promise
  21. It wasn't working for me either until I downloaded the divx 5.05 drivers. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  22. Well I'd probably die and you might get the sack so perhaps we'll leave it. It was a nice day dream though.
  23. I doubt it was today, the weather's a bit grim at the moment. Ahhh, the British summer...... Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
