  1. Thanks everyone for all the replies. I did a couple of coach jumps over the weekend and Steve really got me to concentrate on relaxing my arms and shoulders. Result? Much better! Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  2. Cool video . I've only done 2 or 3 canopy swoops and got about as close as you did. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

    FJC - my experience

Thanks for posting that dude, loads of people will read it and find it interesting and useful. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  4. I heard about this over the weekend too. Didn't get any details other than the fact that there was a recent fatality at Brid. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  5. Nice one dude, you've done well to get through RAPS so quickly and in only 21 jumps. Cool . That Skyvan's awesome isn't it? It's a shame we can't have it full time. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  6. Thanks dude. Why don't you scan that one you showed me of you about to force several litres of swoop pond water up your arse? Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  7. On tape somewhere but you know what stills from dv are like - crappy. Incase I wasn't clear: the picture I attached on my 1st post is a scan of an actual photograph, taken by Sam Bailey. Ric and I are the subjects. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

    uk axa travel insurance

I just had an interesting conversation with someone at Axa Travel Insurance. On their website it lists BASE jumping as one of the activities which can be covered if you purchase their Hazardous Sports and Activities Cover, this is backed up by the text version of their policy document (follow the "Policy Details" link, it's in "General Exclusions"). However, the pdf version explicitly excludes BASE jumping from the Hazardous Sports and Activities Cover. So I called them and according to the woman I spoke to (who checked with her team leader) BASE jumping is definately not included and there is no way it can be included. The only suggestion she had was to try a high street broker who may be willing to 'take on the higher risk'. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  9. I only thought it was the L&B Niels because of a previous post. My apologies to both Niels' if I was wrong! Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  10. If you haven't done so already it would be worth reading as many posts from the forum as you can, lots of people have written about their first jumps and about wacky prototype designs - an inflatable wing being tested at Empuriabrava and Niels Brusgaard's wrist-to-ankle suit spring to mind. I'm sure if you contacted Robi or Yari at Birdman they'd have some stories to tell you. There's also a wingsuit forum over on Blinc but it's pretty quiet. For what it's worth I think the real innovation at the moment is being driven by the BASE community where even small improvements in flight performance are very noticeable. Not that I know what I'm talking about (yet
  11. I've seen that too, infact it was on the wall at Ric's flat (the other guy in the pic). Cool picture and can you believe it, his parents bought it for him! Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  12. Rule #1: You can never have enough photos or video or yourself!
  13. Perhaps if 2 of us try at the same time we can move it to the top. Ready.......heeeeeeave. Has it worked? Quite a nice positive article though. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  14. I know that the 'real' forums are supposed to be free of 'chatter' but in reality at least a bit (and sometimes alot) seems to creep in. You're probably right about it being alot of work for HH to implement but it's not like he has anything else to do . Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  15. Alright chaps! So I finally have a stable, down the tube, straddle, hd position. I'm finding that it's putting alot of pressure on my shoulders and that after a couple of jumps it's quite sore/stiff (I am quite feeble though), is this a sign that I'm doing something wrong or is it quite normal? Thanks, Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  16. Agreed. But an interesting sign of what maybe to come. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  17. dz.com's popularity is a double edged sword - it's great to have so many people posting on so many posts but sometimes it gets difficult to wade through it all and find the useful information...... So, what about a Slashdot style rating system where registered users can rate a post (for example, this post would get a 5 for being awesome), then filter posts on a particular thread by their average rating. The thread is a prime example where it's difficult to keep up but you want to because certain posts might contain something important. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

    1600 ft.

I get a 404 when trying to view the vid. You're looking pretty serious on the 1st picture, I imagine there was a fair amount of internal dialogue going on there. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  19. 2 1/2. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  20. Gotta make it clicky dude.
  21. That reminds me of this, a post about Niels Brusgaard jumping a similar sounding suit (wing from wrist to ankle). Any connection? Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  22. Definately, I'm getting much more positive and predictable openings than I was. I'm flying a GTi too so the burble isn't as big as a Skyflyer but yes, I think it makes a difference. Having said that, many people jump completely unmodified kit with no complaints. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  23. I did my first jumps with an unmodified Atom Classic (Spectre 135). I now have a Teardrop SF (Sabre2 120) with an 11ft bridle but no other mods. I've probably had twists 5 times out of 50 flights, no chops but I'd like to get that percentage down a bit, 10% seems a bit high. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  24. I think there is a bit of jealousy that Felix is getting so much attention and he gets to play around with things like the Channel crossing for a living. Mainly though I think people don't like his attitude, the face he's putting on skydiving and the fact that some of the information he puts out there seems a bit 'dubious'. I couldn't agree more. If you'd like to share them I'd love to hear some stories about your early experiements with ram air wings suits. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
