Short memories are common these days. Much the same thing happend with ShrubCo and none of the right wing conservatives expressed anything but 100% support for the stonewalling. As usual, now that a Democratic administration is doing the EXACT SAME THING, right wing conservatives are waxing wroth. The lack of consistency by RWCs is par for the course, unfortunately.

Did Republicans deliberately crash the US economy?
funjumper101 replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
Own your own business or get voted into office. You are free to try both if you are capable enough. I might As soon as Obama and the Dems have less power When that happens all small businesses will have a better success rate Too much Right Wing propaganda can really warp a person's perspective. During the last Bush administration, when your beloved Republican Party was in power, according to your stated belief quoted here, the economy should have EXPLODED with growth. Small business, big business, the economic growth should have been absolutely SPECTACULAR! Here is a hint, Marc. I hate to be the one to force feed you factual information, but you clearly REALLY need it. There was no spectacular economic growth. Your myth is not based in fact. It is a carefully constructed load of bullshit presented to you by the RWC media machine. Other than military suppliers, military contractors, and the real estate/banking cabal, the economy was stagnant. As usual under Republican administrations, there was massive growth in the size of government and the budget deficit. The only time these issues matter is when Democrats are in power. Then these issues are REALLY, REALLY IMPORTANT. That is the definition of hipocracy. Back during the Bush1 administration, IE, the previous Republican administration, didn't Bush1 lose the election mostly due to a bad economy? One term and OUT! Where was the amazing growth that happens when Democrats aren't in power? During the last Democratic administration, how did the economy do? SPECTACULAR is a decent description. Facts are stubborn things. No matter how strong your belief structure is, facts trump opinions every time. You parrot the Right Wing talking points without questioning their accuracy. You are the ideal RWC follower. -

Another episode in the GOP's war on women
funjumper101 replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
I thought that Right Wing Conservatives were all about keeping government off the backs of the people, minimizing regulations, and increasing personal freedom. How do you explain/justify your position on regulating the right of an adult woman to control what personal decisions they make with regard to their own health and bodies? It isn't really ANY of yours or my business, if you support equal personal freedom for everybody. Your position pretty much is 100% the opposite of being anti-government regulation and pro personal freedom. I trust my sisters to make good, rational, informed decisions with regard to their health and personal circumstances. Why don't you? Why should the government be so intrusive? -
Did Republicans deliberately crash the US economy?
funjumper101 replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
Yes they did. The facts are irrefutable, if you give a shit about factual information. Based on your response of "No" to the question, there are two options. One is that you are factually challenged and will not cure that condition. The other is that the corporate media is so overwhelming you with misinformation that you simply can't sort out the truth from the half truths, outright lies, and tiny amount of fact that is presented to you. Either way, you are 100% wrong. How do you explain the rescumlicans holding up the highway bill? The bills that have, until 2009, passed without issue, with both democrat and republicans voting "yes". If the highway bill doesn't pass, about 1.8 million people will be thrown out of work, onto the unemployment line. If you think that isn't one facet of the deliberate intent to crash the economy, what do you call it? -

Did Republicans deliberately crash the US economy?
funjumper101 replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
Yes, they did. We are all paying the price, even their most ardent supporters. Aren't traitors supposed to be tried, convicted, and executed? Begin quoted text >>> On January 20, 2009 Republican Leaders in Congress literally plotted to sabotage and undermine U.S. Economy during President Obama's Inauguration. In Robert Draper's book, "Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives" Draper wrote that during a four hour, "invitation only" meeting with GOP Hate-Propaganda Minister, Frank Luntz, the below listed Senior GOP Law Writers literally plotted to sabotage, undermine and destroy America's Economy. The Guest List: Frank Luntz - GOP Minister of Propaganda Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX), Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-MI) Rep. Dan Lungren (R-CA), Sen. Jim DeMint (SC-R), Sen. Jon Kyl (AZ-R), Sen. Tom Coburn (OK-R), Sen. John Ensign (NV-R) and Sen. Bob Corker (TN-R). Non-lawmakers present Newt Gingrich During the four hour meeting: The senior GOP members plotted to bring Congress to a standstill regardless how much it would hurt the American Economy by pledging to obstruct and block President Obama on all legislation. These Republican members of Congress were not simply airing their complaints regarding the other party's political platform for four long hours. No, these Republican Congressional Policymakers, who were elected to do 'the People's work' were literally plotting to sabotage, undermine and destroy the U.S. Economy. Mitt Romney, who has hired most of Bush/Cheney Policy Advisers, and the GOP party believe they can defeat President Obama, take control of the Senate and maintaining control of the House of Representatives so long as the economic recovery stalls. So they are actively trying to make it happen ... and that's what hate-propaganda Minister Frank Luntz had in mind when he organized the January 20, 2009 covert meeting. Republicans do not pay Frank Luntz to offer ideas for good policy to help America, rather, Republicans pay Luntz' to devise lies that will keep Americans dumb and ignorant to facts on policy. For decades Republicans have paid Frank Luntz to tell them (Republicans) what to say in order to brainwash 'the People' with lies and hate to destroy policy. Luntz does not use words to merely have Americans "change their minds." Rather, Frank Luntz uses words intentionally to dumb-down Americans and fill them with lies and hate so as to brainwash and program Americans to hate a given policy. Frank Luntz, like many Hate-Propaganda Ministers, loathes the notion of honesty in debate. Also, like many Hate-Propaganda Ministers, Frank Luntz wants total control ... total control even it if means destroying America. So, Luntz uses the tactics similar to Joseph Goebbels: spread hate, lies and fear in order to gain control. (More on Frank Luntz at the end of this Diary). Remember, for months prior to January 20, 2009, America had been losing over 750,000 jobs per month because of policies these same elected Republican lawmakers had enacted and their goal, their goal that night, was to plot ways to sabotage and undermine any and all legislation that would pull American families up and out of the economic calamity they [lawmakers] had helped create. Two months after their covert meeting where they plotted to sabotage the US Economy, in March 2009, Rep. Pete Sessions said Republicans should follow the model of the Taliban in its battles against President Obama. In the March 2009 interview with National Journal Rep Sessions said: "Taliban Insurgency, we understand perhaps a little bit more because of the Taliban. Insurgency is the way they went about systematically understanding how to disrupt and change a person's entire processes. And these Taliban -- is an example of how you go about to change a person from their messaging to their operations to their frontline message. And we need to understand that Insurgency may be required when [dealing with] the other side" ~Rep Pete Sessions, March 2009 to National Journal Rep Pete Sessions went on to say: "If they [democrats] do not give us those options or opportunities then we will then become Insurgency ... I think Insurgency is a mindset and an attitude that we're going to have to search for and find ways to get our message out and to be prepared to see things for what they are, rather than trying to do something about them" Also, at their meeting they plotted to suddenly stop supporting any Stimulus Legislation, even though, they all supported Bush/Cheney Stimulus legislation. At the meeting, Rep Kevin McCarthy said, "We've gotta challenge them on every single bill." "Show united and unyielding opposition to the president’s economic policies." Remember, these same Republican members of Congress supported the very Bush/Cheney policies that caused America to teeter on the brink of the 2nd Great Depression and caused the 2007 US Economic Meltdown. Here's how they all voted: -- "Yes" to Bush/Cheney January 2008 Stimulus -- "Yes" to Bush/Cheney bailing out Bear Stern -- "Yes" to Bush/Cheney bailing out AIG -- "Yes" to Bush/Cheney TARP (sept 2008) -- "Yes" to Bush/Cheney TARP (oct 2008) And these same Republican members of Congress: Supported Bush/Cheney keeping cost of two wars out of the Budget. Supported Bush/Cheney spending $4Trillion while giving Top 1% Tax Cuts; ignoring the fact that taxes pay for wars. Not only did these Senior members of Congress plot to destroy the American Economy more than it already was destroyed? They actually carried out their mission: Every one of these Senior members of Congress have threatened Government Shutdown over things like: - Funding planned parenthood, - Raising the Debt Ceiling which, in-and-of-itself, would cause US Economic turmoil. ... oh, and stay current, these same House GOP members of Congress are still, today, threatening a Government Shutdown again over the Debt Ceiling. Last year, during the Debt Ceiling negotiations, Eric Cantor and Sen. Jon Kyl abruptly walked out of negotiations and refused to renew discussions with Democrats. As a result, America's credit rating was lowered which put a smile on Republican's faces. Senators: Jim DeMint, Jon Kyl, Tom Coburn, John Ensign, and Bob Corker have: - Filibustered more Bills (over 300) than any Congress combined in US History. - Voted NO on every single piece of Legislation brought to the Floor including: NO on Al Franken's Anti-Rape Amendment, NO on Lilly Ledbetter, NO on Fair Pay Act, NO on Anti-Outsourcing Bill (2010) How in the hell could any thinking American be against those Bills? Seriously?!? Representatives: Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor, Kevin McCarthy, Rep. Pete Sessions, Jeb Hensarling, Pete Hoekstra and Dan Lungren have voted NO on every single piece of Legislation including: NO on increasing FEMA during natural disasters. These same failed Congressmen have been on tv constantly chanting the lie that they were guilty of ... the lie that "President Obama's policies undermine the US Economy." Currently: Republicans Using the Transportation Bill to Sabotage the US Economy: If the current Transportation Bill expires June 30, there will be no funding for transportation projects and 1.9 million construction workers would lose their jobs. Eric Cantor and Republicans in the House are refusing to act because Republicans would be overjoyed if almost two million Americans were added to the unemployment rolls this summer before the election. Other Legislation used to sabotage US Economy Republicans in Congress refused to negotiate or even discuss passing President Obama's American Jobs Act that independent economists claim would create 1.3 million new jobs. God forbid Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan or Kevin McCarthy support an actual Bill that would put people to work building needed infrastructure and provide funds to pay to rehire hundreds of thousands of teachers, firefighters, police officers and other public service workers that have been laid off in droves by cash-starved states. Republicans are gearing up block President Obama's 2012 Anti-Outsourcing Bill - which is a Bill to discourage the outsourcing of American jobs, which is due to come to the Senate floor around the fourth of July. The Washington Post reports that Republicans have made it clear that the Federal Reserve would face fierce Republican criticism if it takes further actions to stimulate the economy before the election. The Washington Post wrote that, Republicans... have expressed deep concern about measures taken by the Fed to support the economy -- and could be doubly upset if new efforts goose the stock market and are perceived to work in favor of President Obama's re-election. Frank Luntz Like I said above, Republicans do not pay Luntz to offer ideas for good policy to help America, rather, Republicans pay Luntz' to devise lies will keep Americans dumb and ignorant to facts on policy. For decades Republicans have paid Frank Luntz to tell them (Republicans) what to say in order to brainwash 'the People' with lies and hate to destroy policy. Luntz is so good at lying, he even lies to himself. In order to blur reality and not take responsibility for his devising the spread of propaganda through hate and lies Luntz told Matt Lauer "I focus on words that cause people to change their minds, change their behavior even change their attitudes." ~Frank Luntz 3/2011 in interview with Matt Lauer No, Luntz is not using words to merely have Americans "change their minds" -- Luntz is using words intentionally to dumb-down Americans and fill them with lies and hate so as to brainwash and program Americans to hate a given policy. Luntz has been the Republican Hate-Propaganda Minister since at least 1993 and his list of words to stop policies that help America are vast: Don’t say “oil drilling.” Say “energy independence.” Don’t say “inheritance tax.” Say “death tax.” Don't say "Capitalism." Say "Economic Freedom." Don't say that the government 'taxes the rich.' Say Government "takes from the rich." Don't admit Lobbyists are Collective Bargainers for Corporations. Say "Union Collective Bargaining steals your tax dollars." Luntz says people hate government so: Don’t say “healthcare reform.” Say “government takeover.” Don't say "Public workers." Call them "Government workers." For the 2012 election, Frank Luntz is training his failed co-harts in the Republican party on what Luntz says are "the three most powerful words to use" to con people is: "I get it." Luntz says: Don't tell Occupy Wall Street "you don't give a shit." Say "I get it." Don't tell struggling Americans "you're on your own." Say "I get it." Don't tell Occupy Wall Street "you should protest Wall Street." Say "You should occupy the White House." Yes, it is true, the House Republican Leaders: Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan and Kevin McCarthy met in secret and plotted to sabotage and undermine the US Economy ... I call them TRAITORS TO AMERICA. So, the next time you hear the GOP say "Obama wants to destroy the economy" or "Government Shutdown" ... remember ... as Newt Gingrich said after their four hour dinner on January 20, 2009 "You’ll remember this as the day the seeds of 2012 were sown." To Translate GINGRICH: "You'll remember this day as they day we became Traitors to the United States." My hope is that Americans and all members of Congress are reminded via twitter, facebook and all other forms of media over and over and over: Republican Leaders in Congress literally plotted to sabotage the US Economy on January 20, 2009. -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Globe_Swift is a good place to start. At the bottom of the page is a link to the museum foundation, which is the current holder of the type certificate. They are pretty cool. and pretty, airplanes. I am six feet tall, with a 32 inch inseam, aka, long body, short legs. When I sat in one, the canopy could not close unless I turned my head to the side. Thinner seat cushions might have made up the difference. I don't recall how much baggage space there was. The design started with 65hp. A 125 will make it get up and go just fine. Retractable landing gear = more stuff to break/replace and the possibility of gear up landings should there be a failure in flight. Insurance is much higher for RG aircraft and may not be available at all until hours and experience levels are reached.

Just goes to show how malleable your ethics and morals are. You don't care at all that Scott made his money by committing Medicare fraud, as in STOLE MONEY from the government. I can't say that I am surprised that a false christian would support a person like Rick Scott. It is totally shameful, but to be expected from you and your kind. Begin FACTUAL INFORMATION!!! >>> FORT MYERS (2010-6-18) - Two whistleblowers say the new front-runner in the Republican race for governor is lying when he says he did not know about fraud in his former company, the Columbia/HCA hospital chain. In July 1997, FBI agents raided Columbia/HCA accounting offices in seven states, including Florida. Within days, Columbia’s board of directors ousted Scott, but gave him a nearly $10 million severance package, including stock shares worth $300 million and a $1 million a year consulting contract. The company wound up paying more than $1.7 billion for defrauding the federal Medicare and Medicaid programs. Scott says he didn’t know about his company’s fraudulent billing practices and if he had, he’d have fired those responsible. But company whistleblower John Schilling of Naples says Scott must be lying. “He’s pulling the wool over your eyes if he says that he wasn’t aware of this and he would have fired anybody if he would have been aware of it. I think it’s a bunch of malarkey,” Schilling said. Schilling worked for Columbia as a Medicare reimbursement supervisor in Fort Myers. His whistleblower case, along with others, helped put an end to the fraud and hold the company accountable. Schilling first discovered the company’s fraudulent billing practices in 1993 after a call from a Medicare auditor about a cost reporting issue with Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte. Schilling describes a meeting he had with Columbia administrators, during which he was instructed to “throw federal auditors off the track.” That included offering one of the auditors a job. “They didn’t use the word conspire, but it was basically a conspiracy of, let’s think of some ideas and have John do this,” he said. “Well, at the end of that to-do list, Jay Jarrell, the CFO said, ‘Well, if all else fails, let’s just offer the Medicare auditor a job with the company.’ And it was at that point, that I really started to feel sick to my stomach that, this is not right. “You don’t want to offer a Medicare auditor a job. If this was a mistake, why are we trying to hide this?” he said. Schilling left the company and filed a lawsuit on behalf of the federal government. Then Columbia began courting Schilling to come back. At this time, the FBI was already on the case – and Schilling says his life began to resemble a John Grisham novel. “The FBI saw that it was a good opportunity for me to get back into the organization and kind of be their eyes and ears,” Schilling said. He said the FBI wanted help with their search warrants and “just to kind of be that fly on the wall or spy within the organization,” he said. “I worked my way back into the company. They had no idea I was a government informant,” he said. Schilling’s case was merged with that of another whistleblower in Montana: former HCA hospital CFO Jim Alderson. Alderson says he believes he was fired because of his refusal to abide by accounting practices that maintained two separate sets of books: one showing reimbursements submitted to Medicare, and another secret book documenting fraudulent claims that would be rejected if found by Medicare auditors. The company maintained large reserve funds in case auditors ever discovered the false claims and had to pay up. Alderson says the practice was so widespread, that Scott had to know about it. “These reserves represented anywhere from 25 to 35 percent of the bottom line of the company in its heyday,” Alderson said. “It’s just totally unfeasible that a CEO making the kind of money he was making, that you wouldn’t know where 30 percent of your bottom line came from. How could you sit in a board room and say, ‘Gee, I wonder; we had record profits this year. I wonder where they came from?’” Alderson says fraud also helped Scott grow the company at such a rapid rate. “It’s a house of cards. From what we found in our case was Medicare defrauding paid for the acquisitions,” he said. “They charged the Medicare program interest when they’d buy these other hospitals and that, in many cases, was not legal and that was a major part of our case,” Alderson said. One of four Columbia/HCA executives convicted in the case was Bob Whiteside. He was later acquitted on appeal and says he still stands by Scott, his former boss. Whiteside wouldn’t consent to a recorded interview. He says the billing practices didn’t start with Scott, but were adopted from one of the other companies acquired by Columbia. Whiteside says the illegal activity was widespread within the healthcare industry, but since Columbia/HCA was the largest, the government made an example of it. Schilling agrees that the fraud didn’t start with Columbia, but says Scott’s profit driven and cut-throat corporate culture encouraged the practice to grow. Schilling says administrators who met profit goals were rewarded with bonuses of 50 percent or more of their base salary. “They took shortcuts, they did whatever it took to get to it because they were motivated by the money,” Schilling said. “They had to meet certain profit margins and if they didn’t meet them, I tell you what, I saw several CEOs of hospitals or CFOs that got fired because they didn’t cut it,” he said. Scott was never charged and says he was never questioned in the case. After leaving Columbia, he invested in a television network which became Discovery Health. He also co-founded Solantic Corporation; a chain of urgent care centers in Northeast Florida. At an event in Tampa Friday, Scott characterized his former company's actions as a mistake. "Sometimes, people make mistakes. And when you're CEO, you take responsibility - which I do - but you talk about the things you do well, which I do, and the things you've got to work on," Scott said. "We drove down the cost of health care, we improved outcomes, we improved patient satisfaction. Could we have hired more internal auditors? You'd better believe it. "But that's the difference. In business, if something goes wrong, you're held accountable. In government - think about all the things that've gone wrong. Have you seen politicians take responsibility? They don't. So what you want in a leader is you want someone who learns, and take those learnings, and applies it to any issue and takes responsibility," Scott said.

NM Court: Christian Business Owners Have No Rights

Welcome to the new order. Right Wing Conservatives must be creaming their jeans. This is the very predictable outcome of what passes for conservative philosophy these days. Small government only applies to corporations and extremely wealthy people. The rest of us serfs will submit to the rules without questioning anything. If us serfs haven't done anything wrong, we have nothing to fear. We just have to put up with a bit of inconvenience so that banks, corporations, and wealthy people get full protection of the law. Screw civil liberties. Those rights have been given up freely and without concern by those that are Reich Wing Conservatives. -
Caucasian Americans For Obama - Can't find the website

Where is the sarcasm icon? Or are you as racist as the rest of the Republican Party and Teabaggers are? You clearly don't have much knowlege of the history of the USA when it comes to race relations (seperate but equal, Executive Order 9066, for example), or you simply just don't care. The lack of caring produced ignorant racist bullshit. -
You mean to say that people who follow the law, as it was written and interpreted by the US and Wisconsin legal system are doing something wrong? What a load of bullshit!!!! Right Wing Shitbags are all about following the law, etc, etc, right up until the law permits things that Right Wing Shitbags have been told by their masters is bad. Then they get all huffy and post links to immensely stupid articles from their leaders. Either you have respect for the law, or you don't. You don't get to have it both ways. Unless, of course, you are a follower of the corporate right wing movement, with no capacity for independent, critical thinking. Then you can be as much of a hypocrite as your leaders, while being blind to the hipocrisy. This is exactly the same kind of thinking that has the teascumbags talking about how much they love the constitution, while advocating getting rid of the 14th amendment and other parts of the constitution their leaders tell them is bad. Disgusting stooges led by Dick Armey and the Koch brothers.

I agree that it gives perspective. It tends to show a bias, but is fundamentally useful. Describing the threat as 'miniscule' indicates an understanding of how bad the problem is...which we don't. Theoretically, ten percent of the country could be voting and another ten percent could be voting for themselves and another forty percent. The forty percent we think don't vote could just represent the number the frauds haven't gotten around to voting for yet. :) We just don't know because we don't require ID. However, the point is well taken. We have plenty of big problems in this country. Voter fraud is only one and certainly not the most important. Personally, I would think a balanced budget would be much nicer. Hell, I'd be impressed if the feds could just pass a budget before the beginning of the fiscal year it's implemented in. They haven't done that in 14 years. It's the one thing they know they have to do every year, yet they can't get it done. Makes you wonder about their competence to handle more complex issues like marriage, where life begins, religion and such. In the big scheme of things, voter fraud probably doesn't make the top ten. But it is important. ShrubCo wasted 70 million dollars and 7 years having the issue of voter fraud investigated. Didn't come up with much of anything. Right Wing Conservatives are leading this country down the toilet. Their inability to sort out truth from fiction (birtherism, tea party bullshit that is funded by billionaires, etc) and their selfish short sightedness is totally against everything that made this country great. They are so scared of everything, and so easily led, that they support policies and politicians that really hurt the average citizen. They support policies that concentrate power and wealth in the hands of the 1%. The amount of outside money that has been shoveled out in Wisconsin to prop up Walker is Citizens United in all its glory. Massive FALSE advertising campaigns, enriching the corporate media spreading complete and utter lies, is happening right now. With the full support of conservatives. Absolutely disgusting. The RWCs are quite proud of the perversion of the elections that are and will occur.
-
This was very well put - So let me get this straight: billions of dollars given to politicians from individuals and corporations are not a threat to democracy, the threat comes from a minuscule percent of people who might vote illegally -in a country where 40% of the people don't even vote?!? Talk about Kafkaesque... Puts quite a lot into the correct perspective, if one has the capability for rational thought.

I love it when libs tout Medicare as a system that works well. On average, Medicare covers about half (48 percent) of health care costs for enrollees...Medicare spending is projected to increase from $560 billion in 2010 to just over $1 trillion by 2022. It's in high gear and headed for the cliff along with it's sister Social Security. Maybe you might look into WHY there are excessive costs accumulating. Look into the crap that was passed by ShrubCo in 2005 and you might start to get a clue. Think "no negotiating bulk purchase prices for drugs". I love it when conservatards don't have a clue about the intentional, deliberate sabotage of successful social services by the rescumlicans, then pretend that the issue can't be fixed and we're screwed.

Wall Street Journal (!!): "Obama spending spree" is a falsehood

Get yourself to the RWC Koolaid RIGHT AWAY!!! You might end up having actual factual knowlege about the LIES spread by the "liberal" media that is wholly owned by large corporations. Facts don't matter to the dumbfuck assholes that watch Faux news, believe the shit at Newsmax, and think that the drug addled gasbag has been a positive influence on society. The cancer on the USA that is RWC philosophy has come to the point where it is terminal. We're fucked. -
Contrary to the RWC mantra that "unions are bad, always and all ways", more often than not they actually do what they are supposed to, which is to level the field between management and employees. In this case, a craven management with a "zero tolerance" plocy was forced to back down by a union, with the full support of a properly outraged public. According to RWCs, management should be able to whatever they want, and the employees should shut up and take whatever is dished out, or leave. Of course, when it happens to them or theirs, their tune changes quickly. No problem if it happens to "others" that aren't like them. Money rules all, by their measure. Just look at their current POTUS candidate. RWCs are a cancer on society. Begin quoted text >>> A Safeway clerk in Northern California who was suspended from his job but applauded as a local hero after he struck a man who had been kicking his pregnant girlfriend was reinstated with back pay by the supermarket chain Wednesday. United Food and Commercial Workers Local 5 President Ron Lind said Safeway managers agreed to let meat clerk Ryan Young go back to work at the company's store in Del Rey Oaks, Calif., following a monthlong suspension. The union had filed a grievance on behalf of Young, who also was commended by the Del Ray Oaks' police chief and cheered by Safeway customers from California and beyond for stepping in to defend the pregnant customer on April 21. Some Monterey County residents boycotted and picketed the store where Young was employed. Until Tuesday, Safeway had defended its decision, saying that Young was suspended for unspecified actions caught on a store surveillance video during the confrontation. Lind said the move was an automatic response based on the company's zero-tolerance policy on workplace violence. "While Safeway has legitimate policies and concerns around workplace violence and the appropriate employee response, once the company heard our presentation of the case including Ryan's explanation of the incident, management realized that the suspension was not appropriate and immediately worked with us to resolve the grievance and put Ryan back to work," he said. Young released a statement Wednesday through the online social advocacy organization Change.org, which sponsored a petition signed by 180,000 people expressing outrage at Safeway's actions. "Knowing that I had all these people standing behind me and that I wasn't alone really helped me through this difficult time," he said. "I'll be returning to work soon and I'm ready to move forward." Safeway did not immediately respond to a request for comment. According to the statement he gave police, Young was working behind the meat counter when he saw the pregnant woman and her boyfriend arguing. He leaped to her defense when the man got physical with her. The man, Quyen Van Tran, was sentenced to three years' probation and ordered to attend a 52-week domestic violence class after he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery on Friday, according to the Monterey Herald. The places where the issues with electronic voting machines were documeted were all under Republican controlled election boards. The Ohio debacle that ended up giving Shrub a second term has been fully researched and well documented. The results of that are the second term SCOTUS nominations that have well and truly fucked over the USA by putting right wing idealogues on the bench, and made the worst one Chief Justice. Odds are none of what your "news" sources have ever covered this issue in depth, thus your lack of knowlege of the facts of the matter. Faux Spews is documented to produce less informed and factually challenged viewers.

Feel free to use as your negative example the successful single payer system called "Medicare" that has minimal administrative overhead costs and successful service delivery as the hallmarks of how it works. You know, the system that tea partiers carry signs saying "Keep your government hands off my health care", in reference to the Medicare system. I look forward to your extremely detailed cost/benefit analysis that justifies RWC hatred of something that works well in most other first world economies. While you are at it, maybe you can explain how one of the biggest cheaters of the medicare system ended up as a conservative rescumlican governor of Florida.

This is the finest summary of the RWC/Republican way of thinking I have come across- I am Birther, Bircher, a modern flat-earther. I revile the Kenyan Obama and his Kansas-born mama. He produced a certificate finally, but never will he be American like me! Since I bleed Tea, I oppose any whose face, place or prayer, is foreign to me. Truth, logic, & science are an unholy alliance. Justice, fairness, & reason are liberal acts of treason. I'd rather claw out my eyes than compromise. I hate unions with Koch brothers passion. Low paid cops, teachers, & firemen must be the fashion. My Rove rage will end the minimum wage! By decree, a woman's choice and body, will be policed & submit to me. Climate change is a joke & gays will never get equal consideration. My place is in big oil's yoke. How I miss segregation. I love free market anarchy. Tax cuts for the rich, kill Social Security! Socialism is my nightmare. Gut the VA & Medicare! Since "Corporations are people" is the thing, my love life is much more interesting. On a cross, the "Obammy" presidency should burn! While my vote propelled Bush-for-brains to heights undeserved, I dare not mention the name, I ain't got the nerve. God bless America! But I am not keeper of my brother. All my failures, the fault of an illegal or some "other". Thanks to Rush, Fox, & the internets I think independently. I am no pawn, no rube, not ClownedByTheGOP. Birther, Bircher, modern flat-earther, that's me.

The population of clueless morons has expanded at an exponential rate since consolidated ownership of media became legal and Faux Spews started broadcasting. It used to be considered immoral and unethical to knowingly broadcast that with is demostrably untrue. Faux Spews went to court to be able to force their employees to broadcast things that were known to be untrue.

Fascism, the Republican party objective
funjumper101 replied to funjumper101's topic in Speakers Corner
The current iteration of the Republican party, brought to us by the Koch brothers and Dick Armey via the Tea party, is succeeding in driving the USA into fascism. These are not patriots, or anything even close. They are what is truly and totally wrong with the USA these days. Corporations are not people. A person can be put in jail. A person can be executed via the electric chair or lethal injection. Corporations can't vote in elections. For the uneducated, here is a cogent explanation of what fascism is and how it is manifested. Many of these characteristics have come out in recent years. Which ones do you recognize as being at the forefront these days? Fourteen Defining Characteristics Of Fascism By Dr. Lawrence Britt Source Free Inquiry.co 5-28-3 Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes. Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each: 1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays. 2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc. 3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc. 4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized. 5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution. 6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common. 7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses. 8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions. 9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite. 10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed. 11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked. 12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations. 13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders. 14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.
