  1. Are you trying to make the case that every single company that the US Government backs, or assist, in any way, MUST ABSOLUTELY be a runaway success? The Right Wing Conservatards that are so happy about business failures are really patriotic, aren't they? The ignorant pinheads have exactly ZERO comprehension of venture capital funding and the outcome of the funding. The very BEST VCs in Silicon Valley have a failure rate of around 75% or thereabouts. For the ignorant RWCs, that means that 75 of the 100 companies that very experienced capital investors put their money into, fail. Fail as in, don't succeed. Is that clear enough for you America hating pinheads? No sane, well informed person would expect a higher success rate than VCs from government investments in private enterprise. The moron bastard shitheads that watch Faux Spews, listen to Lush Rimjob, and the psychotic Glenn Beck, are more than happy to gloat about business failures, as long as the failures happen to companies that received some kind of government assistance. Since when did it become a positive thing to be really HAPPY about a leading edge business venture failing? It used to be that severe ignorance was something shameful. Nowadays it is a sign that you are a Right Wing Conservatard.
  2. In other words, you concede that the second amendment DOES have limits, and that regulation of arms available to the average citizen has and does occur. Good job. You are starting to get the point. The point being that regulation of weapons and ammunition is already part of the existing body of law. Those regulations can, and should be revisited from time to time as technology and society evolve. How's about a bit of that "original intent" bullshit added to the mix? A reasonable argument can be made that the "origianl intent" of the second amendment was to ensure that the average citizen, with his muzzle loading, single shot flintlock soothbore would be able to hang on to it as part of a well regulated militia. The "original intent" of 2nd Amendment certainly didn't cover rifled barrels, bullet cartridges, semiautomatic and automatic firing mechanisms, etc. Those would be illegal by "original intent" and would have to be covered under a seperate body of law. "Original Intent" sure is fun, isn't it?

    Comet

I tried for several days to see it. No joy. I live out in the country on a five acre ranch. There are no streetlights and it is over 100 miles to the nearest major metropolitan area. I have an unobstructed western view. It gets REALLY dark when the sun goes down. As far as good viewing conditions, I should have been at a 10 out of 10. I am begininng to think that this "comet" was an extremely well played practical joke.
  4. BRILLIANT!!! A pack of false assumptions wrapped up in an emotional diatribe. Nicely done. I actually am a pretty good shot. I have owned guns in the past. At the moment I am considering buying a .22 as I have problems with ground squirrels. I live out in the country, on a five acre ranch. I am having a fair amount of success with traps, so odds are I'll pass on the gun as I don't need it. I got rid of the guns I used to have as I don't hunt, and I don't have irrational fears about home invasions. At the time, I needed the money, and had pretty much figured out that guns were fun to play with, but not required in the life I lead. I have no odd fantasies that I, though my incredible masculinity and hypervigilance, along with massive skills in home defense and personal protection, could fight off armed intruders. You, however, do seem to have this odd fantasy. I highly recommend professional help for this form of mental illness. You wouldn't want to be found to be so mentally screwed up that it isn't safe for you to own guns, would you? If where you live is so unsafe that you MUST have firearms for personal protection, I advise you to relocate to a more civilzed part of the world. Why would any sane person subject their loved ones to such a place?
  5. Why is it that I can’t buy a 20mm cannon and explosive rounds for it, as a citizen of the USA? Why is it that I cannot buy an automatic weapon over the counter from any gun store in the USA? Why is it that I cannot buy an RPG launcher and the rounds for it? I am an American Citizen, living in the USA. According to the Reich Wing Conservatives, the Second Amendment to the Constitution prevents the government from infringing on my right to bear arms. Why is it that I can’t buy these things? Could it be that the Second Amendment is not absolute? Could it be that there is a clearly established body of law for regulating what kind of weapons and ammunition can be legally sold in the USA? These facts take the current political discourse from one of the RWC absolutes (no restrictions of any kind at all, EVER) into the real world. The one where regulation of weapons is already in place, and can be extended as needed. As weapons technology has expanded, the need for regulating the hardware available is part of the responsibility of our elected representatives. A reasonable level of regulation that preserves public safety is what government is supposed to do.
  6. 20 years!? Come on, that is just ridiculous. Is your position the usual Reich Wing Conservative one? That would be "Anyone convicted of a capital crime should be put to death ASAP!". The Reich Wingers have 100% faith in the US justice system when it comes to domestic crimes and murders. They have no faith at all in the system when it comes to criminal prosecution of terrorists. Then the system is found to have too many rights granted to the accused, and that simply is unacceptable.
  7. According to many on this board, the American justice system is good enough to sentence people to death for certain crimes. There is no question their minds that the sentences should be carried out. Especially in places like Texas... If you all have that much faith in the system, why do you believe it can't handle this criminal prosecution?
  8. 1/3 of the republicans, and all of the democrats. I'm now a firm believer that Barry's plan is to keep the economy weak, blaming it on the R's so he can get a majority in both houses in 2014 and go crazy the last 2 years of his presidency. Let's hope that Obama's plan as described works out. Better actual progress in the USA than the bitter hatred from the Right Wing Conservatards that has held the country hostage since 2009. We, the people, voted for hope and change in 2008. The rescumlicans grossly abuse the Senate rules to stop pretty much everything positive that has been attempted. Due to media ownership essentially being fully in the hands of the righ wing hatemongers, the results of their obstructionism was sold to the gullible nitwits as Obama's fault. The 2010 elections were the outcome of the sustained propogandizing by RWC hate mongers. Here is a hint for the conservatards - A bill is supposed to pass in the Senate with a vote of 51 or more. The main job of the VP is to break 50-50 ties. It is a disgusting abuse of the Senate rules to filibuster all and everything, meaning that ANYTHING takes 60 votes to move forward. Real patriots would have risen up against the rescumlicans that employed this tactic. RWCs have proven themselves to be anything but patriotic by failing to try to stop that shit.
  9. I should have highlighted the word SAVINGS in the description of the type of account. There is a big difference. A checking account can be overdrawn. A savings account cannot. Where I am, different rules apply to different kinds of accounts. You can't overdraw a savings account.
  10. The best way to deal with Paypal and bank accounts is to keep them out of your regular accounts. How? Set up a savings account at a bank that IS NOT your primary bank. In other words, if you use B of A, set up the savings account at Wells Fargo. Link that savings account to the Paypal account. Don't keep much of a balance in the account. Paypal can't take money if there is none. This has worked very well for me. As soon as the Paypal funds from online sales are released, they get transferred into the savings account, then withdrawn ASAP. No way will I allow Paypal anywhere near my main bank accounts.
  11. Google works really well for looking up factual information. Give it a go sometime. Hint - you can copy/paste text into a search field The quoted text comes from the the LA Times. There is plenty of info online as to the rescumlican's work towards fucking over the average citizen. You won't find the info in the corporate owned media outlets. Rolling Stone has Matt Taibbi and Tim Dickinson's contributions. There are lots of other sources of valid info that blow away the false info presented to the gullible morons.
  12. Here you are, morons who support the rescumlicans... Begin quoted text>>> In 2006, the GOP Congress passed a bill that required the Postal Service to fully fund future retiree health benefits for the next 75 years and to accomplish this within a 10-year period. Republicans are always insisting that the USPS be run like a good capitalist enterprise, but few, if any, private businesses could bear the burden of funding three-quarters of a century of retired employees’ medical costs over just one decade. In truth, the Republicans who crafted the bill were not interested in turning the Postal Service into a better business; they were seeking to run the post office out of business. With all those unionized employees working for a quasi-governmental operation that competes with private sector enterprises, the Postal Service is an affront to those who hate government, hate unions and hate to think that there is anything that government can do better than the private sector. The post office may be mandated by the United States Constitution, as clearly as freedom of religion or the right to bear arms, but it does not fit with modern Republican dogma and, therefore, has been targeted for extinction.
  13. Where were you when the rescumlicans passed into law the requiremnt that the USPS fund 75 years of pension requirements in a very short time frame? The requirements are to cover employees that aren't even born yet. The annual cost is around 6 billion or more. Odds are you were cheering on the premeditated invasion and occupation of Iraq. You know, one of the wars that were kept off the books so that the budget numbers didn't look so bad to the ignorant. When a truly fiscally responsible adminstration took over, the hidden costs were put back on the books. The morons among us freak out about the deficit that is mostly due to the previous administration's financial commitments. The morons support massive cuts to social programs, no cuts at all to the defense budget, and no regulation or oversight of the financial community. Thanks a lot, morons. Why do you hate the average citizen of the USA so much?
  14. It is helpul, when posting links to a site, to link to sites that post FACTUAL infomation. Faux Spews is not a site that any intelligent person refers to a a "news site" or as a source for verifiable, factual information. Much like Lush Rimjob, the information presented there is entertainment for the intellectually challenged. In no way, shape, or form is Faux Spews a valid source of factual information. Quite the opposite.
  15. If right wing hate radio didn't demonize those that aren't right wing followers, she wouldn't need a gun for personal protection. By reasonable standards, based upon the volume of credible threats received from the RWC followers, she is a perfect example of those who have a demonstrated NEED for a CCW.
  16. Are you griping about the shitty deal that the teascumlicans forced Congress into, or are you gloating about the shitty deal the teascumlicans forced Congress into? I expect that you are gloating, given your posting history. You are blaming Obama for the shitty deal forced upon the reasonable majority by the psycho teapublican faction of the Rescumlican party. Failure to understand how Congress and the Executive branch interact can cause one to believe things that are patently false. In case you failed the fact checking part of the matter, the Executive branch wanted the ShrubCo tax cuts to expire for incomes over 250,000. The teascumlicans managed to totally fuck up the whole process by failing to compromise. The other critical part of the fact checking is that the "budget deficit" is of ZERO concern to the GOP when that are in power. Witness the dual wars, hidden off the books, along with HUGE tax cuts at the same time. A better recipe for the events of 2007-2009 could not be written. You can't engage in two wars, hide the costs, and give huge tax cuts all at the same time, without seriously fucking things up. What part of recent history can you not comprehend? The current GOP is 100% under the control of the extremely wealthy. The Democratic party is in much the same place, in spite of pleasant sounding rhetoric. The Democratic party is, slightly, on the side of the average American, as long as it does not disrupt the flow of money. The real issue is the fact that each member of congress has to raise about $25,000 PER DAY to have a realistic shot at winning reelection. That kind of money does not come from average citizens. It comes from wealthy special interests that expect performance for the money, and get it. The system is totally broken. It all comes back to the cancwer of MONEY in politics.
  17. Estate taxes are nothing more than capital gains taxes that are applied to assets after they have moved on to new owners. Most estates that are subject to such taxes are comprised of assets that have been held for a fair period of time. The capital gains (estate tax) applies as those assets are sold or disbursed to new owners. Why would a tax NOT apply when assets are distributed to new owners?
  18. You might want to brush up on the facts about the current POTUS. Describing a Harvard trained lawyer, who was a professor of constitutional law, as being a person who "has to take off his shoes to count over ten" bespeaks a level of igorance unmatched for at least ten minutes in this forum. The part that the right wing conservatards don't get is that, thanks to years of education on matters governmental, Obama plays long ball for keeps. He does not dick around much with short term trends and popular "opinions" of the conservatard press. Quite the opposite. He has and maintains focus on long term goals, and works to achieve them. The fact that rescumlicans grossly abused the Senate Rules on the filibuster and still could not stop some progress shows just how fucked up the rescumlicans have become. If it wasn't for the corporate owned media being 100% on the rescumlican side, the average citizen would realize just how badly they have been fucked over by the extremely wealthy, aka, the rescumlicans. This long ball methodology is ever so challenging for the RWC pinheads as these concepts are far beyond what their pitiful little intellects can handle.
  19. Guess he's not a man of his word?
  20. You really should quit reading the weird, twisted information sources you rely on and try getting a more realistic perspective on the way of the world. Challenge yourself by reading BBC news, Al Jazeera english language version, perhaps the Straits Times out of Singapore, for a starting point. I do go and look at Newsmax, ond other similar sites, from time to time. Every once in a blue moon, a small portion of what they present makes some sense. The rest seems to be a whole lot of echo chamberish repetition of things that are patently ridiculous. The Harvard trained lawyer, that spent several years as a Professor of Constitutional Law, is not an extreme left winger, or a socialist boogeyman. He is a moderate centrist, by any reasonable standards. You really have nothing to fear from his Presidency. You really should be afraid of the people who keep pumping out implausible bullshit, repeating it over and over again, to the point where you have actually come to believe the lies you are being fed. Those are the folks to be afraid of. The demonization of the "others" is an old, reliable propoganda technique that has been honed to a fine art by the right wing media machine. If they can keep you afraid, very very afraid, of your fellow citizens, thay have you under their control. Progressives and liberals are not evil people, out to destroy the USA. The best and most positive changes in the US society have come out of liberal/prograssive ideals. None of the conservatives here have ever been able to list anything positive that has come out of Conservative philosophy. Conservatives opposed child labor laws in the early part of the last century. Conservatives opposed women's suffrage. Conservatives opposed the New Deal. Conservatives opposed Social Security and Medicare, two programs YOU personally rely on for your daily existence. They continue to oppose them and try to cut/eliminate the programs YOU personally rely on. Why would you support those that would screw up your life in a major way? It doesn't make rational sense. Liberal/Progressives have much more in common with you than than you think. The folks that run the media outlets that are filling your mind with lies are the ones that you should be against. Not your fellow average citizens that truly belive in the ideals of the USA.
  21. Yeah, there was no acrimony during the Bush years. Acrimony, yes but now there is extreme prejudicial dislike. I have friends who have told me they will no longer associate with anyone who supported BHO. That is on the mild side of expressive displeasure. And that's Obama's fault? IMO, you're part of this group you speak of. YOU guys are part of the problem. What's that saying all the youngin's throw around? I think it's, "haters gonna hate." And the group you speak of were staunch haters before they even knew anything about what he ran on or his policies. Some of them are ignorant of it still! I have a feeling you're blaming the wrong person(s) on this one if that's the direction you're going. We hate socialism. We are mostly veterans. When we joined the military socialism was the enemy. It takes one hell of a nerve for an actual practicing "socialist" to decry "socialism", that exists only in the rotten minds of the people at Faux News, Lush Rimjob, etc. It takes a compete and utter IDIOT to fall for lies that present a moderate Democrat who was a Professor of Constitutional Law as a radical left wing socialist. The morons who believe such tripe are the ones that are the divisive and abusive "other side" that have come to hate the very people that they have much in common with. Being too stupid to be able to discern fact from fantasy, they parrot lies that are patently absurd. When the absurdities are laughed at, they become offended. Being ignorant is a correctable condition. Being a mindless follower who believes every lie presented is not. As a self proclaimed "follower of the tribe", who does not question the "tribe's" beliefs, no matter how ridiculous, is something that one should be ashamed of, not proud of. A more perfect example of what is wrong with the USA these days could not be found. Believing lies, and repeating them as fact, is not an American value. Quite the opposite.
  22. The practicing Socialist has to refer to fables with origins that date back thousands of years to live a happy life. This only works if you pick and choose which parts of the book of fables you choose to believe in. For example, the parts about slaves, how to get them, and how to treat them, apparently don't apply anymore. Neither do the parts about not eating fish on Friday, the parts about polygamous marriage, and the parts about killing the non-believers ASAP. What an odd way to lead life. Taxing guns and ammo a lot would help the revenue issues that government has now would be a really good way to help resolve the issue. One could even call it patriotic to chip in to help fix the problem.
  23. Where are all the right wing conservatards contesting this? The facts are that the Congress has cut funding for State department security. The conservatards don't seem to grasp that fact. Likely because none of their fantasy "news" sources would mention such an important fact.
  24. That would be false. The extremely wealthy will NOT be hurt in any meaningful way by increasing theier tax rates. The bullshit that right wing conservatives parrot is ridiculous. The best economic times for ALL citizens have occurred under Democratic administrations. The higher taxes paid by the extremely wealthy did not hurt them at all. Thirty years of proof that trickle down economics don't work, and the dumbfucks that are RWCs still believe the lies. This past election showed the depth of the immense stupidity of those people. Bushco's policies CRASHED the economy. The budget issues that the RWC turds are so concerned about are due to a responsible adminstration putting the two unpaid for wars back on the books, instead of hiding them in plain sight. The RWC turds pretend that didn't hapen, and were totally unconcerned about it at the time. It is time to break up the media oligopolies that are unified in presenting a false and distorted picture of the world to the RWC dumbasses that believe the bullshit as truth. When all you hear is a pack of lies, one might come to believe the lies. Witness the fact that RMoney didn't even have a concession speech ready to go. He fell for the same bullshit the rest of the RWCs believe.
