I am sure you know this but It is much different being drug into a program than it is advocating for a program But, in the end, all that is being done here is clouding the real issue with stupid semantics Ron has the option to opt out of a socialist system. He rails against "socialism" while fully participating in the most socialist program in the US Government. If Ron was consistent in his actions, he would not accept benefits from those programs that are against what are socialist programs. In other words, he is a hypocrite of the highest order. No amount of right wing conservative bullshit can alter that fact.

You all seem to overlook the fact that Social Security and Medicare require a work history for a minimum number of quarters. Welfare, food stamps and Obamaphone only requires an application. Work history is a key concept. Your ignorance of the history of Social Security and Medicare is showing. The conservatives of the time, as well as the current crop of conservatives, despise the programs as fundamentally socialist. They are fundamentally socialist. They are a redistribution of wealth. You are personally benefitting from that which you claim to be against. Choosing to look the other way when socialist programs works to your personal benefit is hypocrisy of the highest order. Either you are adamantly opposed to such programs, or you aren't. As you have chosen to partake, you are a practicing Socialist, with a capital S. Deal with it. You aren't going to get away with that level of hypocrisy in this forum. I will call you on it each and every time. You have no clue as to what it takes to get Welfare and/or food stamps. NONE. A single application does not get rubber stamped and approved. The wait times are long. The documentation required is difficult. It is a right wing canard that welfare and food stamps are easy to get. Lies, when told over and over to people who are likely to believe them, are still lies.

What a SHOCK!!! Republicans pretending to actually care about the poor and less fortunate, just long enough for the photo op. Reminds me of their intense committment to "unborn children". Those, they care about, kinda. If they really cared they wouldn't be trying to slash funding for planned parenthood and prenatal care. Since they don't give a shit about the child after delivery, why would they waste any money on prenatal care for the mother? As long as she delivers something that is alive, they have fulfilled their mission. It matters not at all to them if, after delivery, the mother and child are healthy and have a place to live, as well as food to eat. None of that social safety net bullshit. They can starve and be homeless. That IS the Republican way.

Fox News audio manipulation of the VP debate

Really? so you know it was a Tram vs a C3, 892, or mx150? Biden played with his tie a lot, and a uni vs omni (it was a live environment), easily has level fluctuations without anything being touched. A broadcast compressor will only make this more evident (and doesn't require help from anyone's hands). Toss in AC3 compression, and any number of things, it could easily explain this away. Fox annoys me, but I sincerely doubt anyone torpedoed Biden's mic. If both broadcasts I recorded use the input from the same mike, yet have noticeable differences in audio quality, there is something other than deliberate manipulation responsible? Faux has lesser quality sound processing hardware than MSNBC? Really? The audio on Faux has Biden sounding scratchy, old, and has odd pitch changes. The audio on MSNBC does not. The comparison is between two different recordings of the exact same part of the debate. Audio of both speakers, from other events, does not show the same effect. I would not put anything past Rescumlican TV. -
Are you still a practicing Socialist? In other words, are you collecting still Social Security and using Medicare Benefits? You talk a lot of smack about "socialism", while being the absolute perfect example of a being a practicing socialist. You are collecting government benefits far in excess of your contributions to the same system. My tax dollars are being "redistributed" into your bank account. Keep up the hypocritical BS. When the time comes to meet your maker, you will have a lot of explaining to do. Here is a bit of homework. Before the Social Security system was implemented, the leading cause of death in the elderly was malnutrition/starvation. True or false?

My landlord came over and watched the versions in sequence. After I asked him to listen carefully, he noticed the same differences I have written about. Coincidence? I don't think so. Neither did he, with no prompting on my part. -

You're right. Generally people who don't like arrogant condescending assholes don't like Biden. When one is dealing with an Ann Randian nitwit like Ryan, it is a completely normal to less than respectful and deferential to them. Ignorant pinhead liars do not deserve respect and deference. They deserve to be laughed at and told that what they are saying is malarkey. If you view that as arrogant and condescending, you must be a Right Wing Conservative. Y'all are totally arrogant and condescending, while wallowing in abject ignorance about history and politics. Are you aware that it was a conservative tenet that miscegenation laws were God's will and should not be changed? Are you aware that it was a conservative tenet that Child Labor Laws were a violation of parental rights, as well as unconstitutional? Conservative dominated SCOTUS found child labor laws to be unconstitutional several times before society evolved enough to put that nasty bit of history behind us. I have yet to hear of any positive social changes that happened due to the practical application of conservative policies. The attempts to limit one half of the US populations personal freedoms with regard to medical issues is a prime example of the NEGATIVE results of the practical application of conservative policies. -

I thought that lawyer were specialists in language and writing. Laughable fiction such as this is quite lame. My gal doesn't really care one way or the other about the candidates and US politics. She is very sharp when it comes to people speaking, lying, and being evasive. She has a job where she deals with the general public all the time. Customers are always trying to get over on people in her job. She is quite good at ferreting out lies from the truth. She hangs with me and reads or does on line chat with her family when I am watching this kind of stuff. She noticed the odd changes in pitch and timbre of the audio, and brought it to my attention. I posted here to see if anyone else in this arena noticed anything similar. So far, all that I have heard is a load of crap about things that do not address the issue. My question is very simple. Did anyone else notice anything amiss with the audio on Faux, compared to other broadcasts? My equipment shows a significant difference on two different recordings made on the same equipment. One sounded quite normal. The other sounded like it was intentionally manipulated. Other reference recordings of the same two people, from different events, and different channels, showed that the sound on last nights debate, as presented by Faux, sounded manipulated, as heard by two different people. My landlord is coming over this evening to have a listen. He used to be all about being a Republican, with a capital R. As he has been exposed to the truth of what has been done to the middle class, by the Republicans, he has started to question his beliefs. The part where they want to reduce or eliminate Medicaid, and SSI, hit home deeply for him. His mom is in a nursing home, and his son is permanently disabled. If the Rescums manage to implement cuts to these services so that the really wealthy, and most major corporations, can keep paying miniscule levels of taxes, he'll have to come up with the difference out of his own pocket. There is nothing like having politicians take from the needy to give to those that need nothing, to make a change in one's personal politics. I'll post again after we review the recordings this evening. -

He said scratchy....and let's face it, Biden's not the most likeable guy to start with and it was painful listening to him interrupting repeatedly. Making his voice closer to chalkboard only amplifies that and at a subtle subconscious level. So yes, there are benefits, if it did indeed occur. Biden is unlikeable only to a certain kind of person. The kind that doesn't like folksy, true blue Americans. The kind that likes creepy eyed, lying weasels like Ryan. Biden's normal voice is deep and projects well. He is the epitome of a politician, a throwback to the good old days. He does not have a scratchy, crackling voice as was broadcast of Faux. When a weasel like Ryan is not stopping on time, telling lies and uttering half truths, he deserves to be interrupted to be corrected by his elders and betters. Ryan refused to take credit for his own policies and sponsored legislation. Co-sponsoring personhood bills with Todd Akin is a fact. Why didn't Ryan admit it? -

Except that it could have been a difference in broadcast quality or equipment on the production end, with out any malice intended. Much more likely in this day and age of digital audio processing, is that the Republican News Channel can and will do sleazy, unethical things to advance their agenda. Look up Roger Ailes' history, especially the early seventies. Ther is no sleazier shitweasel than Roger. -

This is well-known as "expectancy bias." You know how religious guys have set-ups that allow them to hear backward messages? They go looking for satanic messages and they find them, and attribute a motive of turning children into devil's disciples. Tipper Gore looked for S&M in Twisted Sister's "Under the Blade" and she found it. Sure, it's about going into surgery, but, damn, Tipper Gore found was she was looking for. You are looking for a problem and you are finding it. You are trying to find something against "faux news" and inherent bias allows you to find something. Assuming it did happen, then you are stating that Making Paul Ryan sound more like OJ Simpson and making Joe Biden sound more like Ed Asner is a bad thing. You are looking for stuff and making sure you find it. Not even close. Projection onto others that which you personally experience is a good defense mechanism. My russian girlfriend, who was sitting watching with me, was the first to mention it. Once I started paying closer attention as I was switching between the broadcasts, it was really obvious. I spent more time comparing audio from the conventions and other random bits I have on DVR. The Faux broadcast last night was really obvious when compared to other recordings made, and played back on, the same exact equipment. Sublimal influences have been extensively researched and are known to affect ones thinking. Faux Spews is well aware of this research. -
Fox News audio manipulation of the VP debate
funjumper101 replied to funjumper101's topic in Speakers Corner
I recorded both the Faux News and the MSNBC broadcasts of the VP debate. I watched the debate live mostly on Fox for the split screen view of the participants. Faux Spews manipulated the audio for both participants in the debate last night. Ryan’s audio was clear as a bell, with a bit of added bass to make him sound better. Biden’s audio was manipulated to make him sound old and scratchy, along with audio level variances as he moved slightly in relation to the desk mounted mike. The chest mounted mikes don't have audio level variance issues unless the audio is being deliberately manipulated. Neither of these audio issues show up on the MSNBC recording. Both participants voices were the same as other recordings I have on my DVR. I spent a good hour comparing the audio from several different recordings I have accumulated, including the conventions. It was quite obvious that Biden’s audio was deliberately munged by Faux. Did anyone else notice this? Do you have other audio outside of the debate to compare? For the record, I have DirecTV HD DVR service, and a high quality 5.1 surround sound system with an Onkyo receiver. The audio output from the DVR is digital. In other words, the differences in audio were not equipment related. -
since when do you get to define what is or is not earned income. I say they eaned it all. Your contributions in this thread and another show that the information sources that right wing conservatives rely on can cause people to believe things that are patently ridiculous. Deadbeats trying to own homes? Inherited wealth is "earned"? It is stunning that abject ignorance is so common among right wing conservatives these days. I'll bet you think that the Obama administration had two years of united Congress that would have done whatever he had asked, and the Republicans did nothing to obstruct any legislation that passed the HOR. Your information sources may spread this lie, and you might believe it, but it is a LIE, as in factually incorrect. Just like Rmoney and Ayn Rand's boy, a stream of lies and misinformation are presented, and lapped up by right wing conservatives, like a cat does cream. Ignorance can be corrected, stupidity cannot.

The problem with this election is that the entire republican platform, and their candidates, are planning to return to voodoo economics. They will return to the failed policies that ran this country into the ground, as happened the last time their party had power. They will also do everything they can to remove the hard fought rights that women have had for forty years. Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. Their polices have been proven, absolutely, to not work. The economic disaster that happened was the fully predicted outcome of their polices. The other key detail to remember is that the republicans successfully conspired, starting the night of the inauguration, to obstruct in every way, shape and form, anything that the Obama administration tried to accomplish. They were very successful in substantialy derailing the hope and change the we, the people voted for. They did this via gross abuse of the Senate rules, failing to negotiate in good faith on any issue, and saying NO to any policies that would benefit the country. In other words, they sacrificed the good of the country and its people, for political ends. History will not look kindly on those people. The election of 2010 was a perfect example that the power of the media belongs to those that own the most of it. The average citizen was led to believe that the Democratic party had not done much of anything to solve the problems, and that a change was needed. The fact that the lack of progress was 100% due to Republican obstructionism was conveniently NOT mentioned by the mass media, in any meaningful way. If you are fed lies, misinformation, and complete bullshit by the only information sources available, you will come to believe things that aren't based in reality. If the average citizen was fully informed as to the facts of what has occurred since 1980, Democrats would be in power for the next 50 years. Saint Ronnie wasn't a saint. Not by a long shot. It was that administration that started the modern era of never being held to account for the illegal activities of the administrations and their staffs. Iran Contra should have ended in impeachment and lots of people going to jail for a long time. In context of modern times, that is chickenshit compared to the activities that ShrubCo has not been held accountable for. We executed Japanese citizens for waterboarding and other forms of torture. The morals of this country have become so corrupted that we now let our government get away with that which used to be a capital crime. Torture is against the Geneva Convention, to which the USA is a signatory. It truly is amazing how far we have fallen as a nation. We have a choice between two Harvard educated lawyers. One was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He has led an extremely privleged existence his entire life. To this day he is a 1%er who absolutely no clue at all about what the average citizen goes through. The other made it up from a very middle class existence, with international living experience as a child, followed by being an "other", aka, mixed race person, in the heartland. From there he worked his way up to Harvard Law school. President of the Harvard Law review is not a position that one gets due heredity and social standing. It is earned. The racist bullshit he is puts up with, to this day, helps make him much more in tune with the average citizen than the other option is. The choice is quite clear as to which person will help the USA get back to what made us a great country. The alternative is going back to the failed policies that have seriously jacked up the country. If you have a mother, sisters, daughters, nieces, grand nieces, and actually belive that they are equal citizens to men, then the choice is completely clear. If you believe in science over superstition, the choice is completely clear. If you belive in freedom and equlity for everyone, the choice is completely clear.

BHO's failures just keep coming to light.
funjumper101 replied to RonD1120's topic in Speakers Corner
There's a certain irony in your attempt to use "premeditated" with a negative connotation here. The Downing Street memo and the PNAC plan that is still avalable on the Internet would be a great place for you to start to educate yourself as to the facts. The facts are that the Iraq invasion and occupation was a long term plan that came to fruition after the 9/11 attacks happened. Don't forget the PDB delivered to Shrub in August 2011, that was completely ignored. No action was taken after the warning was delivered. Richard Clarke's book "Against all Enemies" spells it out in great detail. The PNAC plan was executed. It did not have the results the planners anticipated. -

Do you consider the premeditaed invasion and occupation of Iraq a success or a failure? Being that you are a right wing conservative, which, these days means that you are unlikely to have any factual knowlege of much of anything, keep in mind that the following things are factually correct - 1. Iraq was governed by a secular government that was a very close ally of the USA for many years. 2. The result of the invasion and occupation is a corrupt theocracy. 3. The invasion and occupation killed thousands of US servicepeople and wounded tens of thousands more. Tens to hundreds of thousands of Iraq civilians were killed or wounded. Millions of Iraqi citizens fled the country and have not returned. 4. The costs for this action were NOT "paid as you go", they were hidden by keeping them off budget. The end cost for this action will be in the trillions, when care of the servicepeople for the next 40 years is accounted for. Odds are you will say it was a success. If that is the case, why are you getting all wound up over a piddling 150 million, when pissing away trillions is perfectly fine, when it is done by Rescumlicans? As far as the furloughs being a failure by the current adminstration, that is quite a stretch. The plant is not closed. Workers can be recalled if and when production is resumed. I am sure that the plant can make other batteries, should there be a demand for them. If the government subsidized residential solar to the same extent that the oil industry is subsidized, the US dependence on foreign oil would dwindle rapidly. Of course, this goes against the RWC philosophy that government subsidies to individual citizens is heinous "socialism", while government subsidies to corporations is "the free market at work". -
The revenue issue is really easy. All that has to happen is for the special tax deals provided to the extremely wealthy to end, NOW! Unearned income, aka, interest and sleazy accounting tricks used to make salary look like interest, should be taxed at the same rates as earned income. The concept that unearned income should be taxed at lower rate than money made by actual labor is disgusting. Money made by investing money to make money is NOT superior to money made by working for it. Quite the opposite. The preferential treatment for rich folks and their money has got to stop. They pay less taxes than at any time in US history, yet STILL bitch about how high their taxes are. The sheeple fall right in line with policies that cost regular folks money and services, so as to subsidize the tax cuts for the rich folks. In many ways, the rescumlicans seem to want to go back to the fifities for social policies. The USA should go back to the tax rates of the fifties. That would solve the "revenue crisis" PDQ.
-
Are you saying that its not possible to be both a Christian and a Socialist? Not at all. There is a poster in this forum who pretends to have christian values and beliefs, while his words, and attitudes towards the poor and non-white people are a mockery of "christian" values. This same individual has written repeatedly that Obama is a Socialist, which in and of itself it patently ridiculous. This same individual rails against socialism as thought the concept is totally evil and alien, while personally collecting Social Security and Medicare benefits. SS and Medicare are the two most "socialist" programs provided by the US Government. When called out for the hipocrisy, the individual shows a complete lack of moral and ethical foundations. A staunch right wing conservative, with little to no knowlege of US history, the bullshit that is written is quite impressive in its stupidity. Pretty much like all RWCs, they really don't have any understanding at all of US History, how we got where we are, and how we can recover from the recent practical application of conservative policies. Reaganomics and the ShrubCo administration was and continues to be a disaster for the USA. Returning to those failed policies will ensure that the USA will become a second rate former world power, much like the UK is now. A working person voting Rescumlican is like a chicken voting for Col. Sanders.

By what measure? In your lifetime, it used to be considered immoral for a black woman to marry a white man, or vice versa. There were laws against this in many states. In your lifetime, it used to be considered immoral for unmarried partners of the opposite sex to live together without benefit of marriage. In your lifetime, homosexuality has has been found to be based in genetics, much like eye color and skin color are. That blows the whole "immoral" crap totally out of the water. Gay folks are God's children, made in His image. What is normal to them may not be normal to you. That is why the USA needs to stay a secular nation, and not become a theocracy. "Immoral" is a buzzword bigots use to justify their disdain for behaviour that the bigot doesn't like. You have plenty of company in that club. The false christian, AKA, the practicing Socialist, will be posting real soon, now. You two will get along GREAT.
-
The practicing socialist, aka, the false christian, is a perfect example of this two faced, selfish abuse of "christian" principles and values. The "tribe" rules for sheeple. The ability to think for yourself goes against everything that the sheeple believe in. These folks are so utterly stupid that they describe a former president of the Harvard Law review, who also was a professor of constitutional law, as a "socialist". The abject idiocy of such statements is far beyond the grasp of the meager intellect available to them. They can't even admit to themselves that they are what they profess to abhor, a Socialist, with a capital S. When these folks go to meet their maker, they will have a lot of explaining to do. With luck, their sins equate to an eternity in hell. They certainly deserve it.
-
It is a great plan, take away deductions that help the average citizen, and use the money saved to provide huge tax cuts to the folks that are already paying the lowest tax rates EVER. This is Reich Wing Conservatism at it best and finest hour!!! Jump on the bandwagon for tax cuts for the "job creators" who will save the economy (every where else but the USA)!!!! Three cheers for the gullible among us who vote Rescumlican!!! Thanks a lot, assholes...
-
198 illegal voters Mission Accomplished Here is some information that you should be able to understand - Here is an explanation of "statistically insignificant" that should be understandable by the average Right Wing Conservative. The US Food and Drug administration is, among other thing, responsible for food safety and standards. The food standards allow for a tiny percentage of rodent shit and urine in processed food. The percentage of non-citizen voters found in Florida is far less that the percentage of shit and piss allowed in the food you and yours buy at the grocery store. Voter fraud bullshit by Rescumlicans and their sheeple followers is a solution searching for a non-existant problem. Why don't you dirtbags man up and admit that you are trying to supress the vote of people who are likely to vote Democratic?
-
That was hilarious. Thanks for posting the link.
