  1. WAY more than enough...... I couldn't find a Puking smiley face. Mark Klingelhoefer
  2. I dont disagree, the weird thing is that CRW is the most spectator friendly of the disciplines and still no-one apart from us really cares - go figure! tash I completely agree with you and I could hardly be called one of "us". Mark Klingelhoefer
  3. Good luck to all the Dawgs out there. I hope Chico doesn't hand out any more numbers this year. Mark Klingelhoefer

    Stolen Gear

I have spoken with Rodger at the Irish parachute club and he requested that I post the serial numbers and pictures of his student rigs that were just purchased from UPT. These are our assembly pictures, so it does not show the rigs clearly, but this is all I have as far as pictures of the containers. The serial numbers for the 3 containers are 45908, 45909, and 45934. Mark Klingelhoefer
  5. You got to understand he's an old dude... and if I remember right, they stowed it by folding it and keeping the folds secured somehow until they were ready to use it. I can see the folded strap flopping around above his head shortly after deployment on some of his videos. Sure, it's just one more potential snag on the camera gear if there is a mal, but that's what they have helmet releases for. I understand all that, but that image I got in my head of the flying noose scared me more that the thought of someone top docking my Stilletto (and if you talk to any of the members of Tres Hobres, They will vouch for the level of concern about this). The next year, I was taking and delivering docks with my Stilletto comfortably, but I still have never jumped that "insane foot loop thing". Mark Klingelhoefer
  6. Tom's got one, and he tried to talk me into hooking it up before Nationals in Chicago a few years back. You actually pack your rig with this HUGE cross connector. My question was what if I have a mal and have to cutaway? The thought of being "Hung" in the process of the cutaway by an 8 ft "noose" was a little unnerving to me. I just worked my upper body hard pulling the Fronts "Manually". Then they taught me the warp, which I also thought was crazy on a Stilletto, but it worked like a charm. Mark Klingelhoefer
  7. Sorry to jump to conclusions. When she was refered to as a student, I assumed AFF LV 1-7, not a coach jump, however, rental gear should be checked by a staff member to insure it is in date before giving it to the customer, Student or not. As long as the lesson was learned (both by her and the DZ Staff) no harm, no foul. BTW, I was never accusing anyone of pencil packing or anything like that, I was just pointing out the importance of a full rig inspection, including the packing data card. Mark Klingelhoefer
  8. I don't like the fact that a student who is being taught how they should behave before any skydive (with a complete rig inspection including the reserve card) missed a data card with a clearly expired reserve. You should never teach a student to "rush" anything. I'd be lying if I said I never "rushed" to get on a load, or did not do a complete gear inpection on my own rig, but when teaching a "student" how to behave, this should NEVER happen. What are you telling the student..."These things are only important when you're not in a hurry, and the plane can't wait for us to do this right."? Mark Klingelhoefer
  9. However, since then I have learned that the only changes to the Stiletto that have been made over the years never really affected the performance of the canopy. Mark Klingelhoefer
  10. When I bought my Stilletto 120 (serial number 13) several years ago, my rigger said I got one of the "good ones" before they had "detuned" it. I don't know if there is any truth behind that, but that's my story and Im sticking to it.
  11. I have pulled myself off of several loads before ever bording the plane in my 8 years in the sport. I don't think I've ever ridden the plane down (unless the whole load was coming with me) but I have made the decision before I ever got onto the plane. I have yet to be in a situation where the weather rolls in from nothing to nasty weather while I'm in the air. If it looks like this is going to happen, my name gets erased from the load sheet before I take off. Mark Klingelhofer
  12. How about if you just hack off the display unit and put it in the pouch?
  13. How about a 12+ year old cypress with the cutter removed?
  14. Well, you can, but it ends up all over your jumpsuit and rig. Not recommended. Agreed with that from the point of view of it being a cautionary tale (don't drink and jump), but using that line of reasoning, Budweiser couldn't advertise at NASCAR races. (I don't think anyone goes, "Oh, car #7 has a Bud Logo... I bet he's loaded right now!") "Just because I've got Bud on the car doesn't mean I've got bud IN the car."
  15. Did you land safely (in the airplane)? You made the right choice. It doesn't matter what others are comfortable with. Your saftey is in your own hands at these times. "It's much better to be on the ground (or in the plane) wishin you were in the air than to be in the air and wishing you were on the ground (or still in the plane)." Mark Klingelheofer Mark Klingelhoefer
  16. I got to do one (the last one) before the 911 restrictions that shut them down the entire day of a launch. Ive also got to jump with 10-20 rocket launches (not at the same time). I think the days of Shuttle Jumps at SSC are done for good though. I'd love to see them come back however. Mark Klingelhefer
  17. How about getting ready for the 121 way?
  18. So the point was if every DZ put the same policy in place for 90 days then people would either stop throwing tantrums, open their own DZ, quit or work with the BUISNESS owners in trying to find something that works for the BUISNESS owner. And I think their point was if the DZ banned Belly Flying for 90 days, and you "throw a fit about how someone chooses to run their buisness ", how would your reaction be considered. You are talking about encouraging DZO's to kill off an entire discipline in the sport. Why stop there, Style and accuracy guys in a heavy stall above the landing area can screw up peoples patterns, CReW guy ho do hop and pops can screw up peoples patterns. Students making S-turns so they don't overshoot their landing area definently can screw up the pattern. We should ban new students also. Where does it end? Just some food for thought. 19. I had a TSR 80 with a 300 baud modem and compuserve. I ran a WWIV BBS off of an 8088. First actual Internet expetience was telnet (before Mosiac came out) in college. I still remember buying my 64K memory upgrade to the TSR 80 and when I got s disk drive for it (8.5") and did not have to load from cassette tape any more. Mark Klingelhoefer Mark Klingelhoefer
  20. They are an option. $25 more than standard risers. Mark Klingelhoefer United Parachute Technologies
  21. I know that when Greg and Patty bought Skydive Space Center, I had about 40 jumps on a 100 jump block left on account there, and they honored these jumps
  22. The CPC meets next year in Deland should be interesting. Mark Klingelhoefer
