Well, I paid extra for a rush at the time. I can't recall how long, but it was pretty quick. That was a while back, things change, so i'd just contact Nancy and ask what her turnaround is right now. She is the most approachable non-pushy person, i'm sure she'd have no problems answering any questions you might have:) Angela.

I'm jumping friday come hell or high water....
SkydiveNFlorida replied to jumper03's topic in The Bonfire
Oh, shit, I thought you wrote "fiances", not "finances". I read it too fast. lol!! I thought you were one busy guy. :p Still, sux for me, but maybe still no jumping in Fla this weekend due to ANOTHER hurricane (Ivan). :( Angela. -
A crossfire2 at 80 jumps will put someone in a casket. Don't care what they load it at,. That's a pretty all-encompassing statement. I wouldn't bet on that. And, fyi, the poster was asking about a SAFIRE not a XFIRE. Angela.

I did that, too. Mine didn't get TOO swollen, but it was painful. I ended up leaving it and not going to the Dr. I think the joint will have arthritis one day, because it still hurts a bit compared to my others, and it was about 4 months back. In other words, i'd go get it checked out if I were you. Angela.

Thinking about making Nuclear Medicine my career.

What type of engineer? Why do you think that is? I'm hoping to become an engineer, so it worries me to hear this. thx. angela -
Jumping with contacts and sunglasses?
SkydiveNFlorida replied to windcatcher's topic in Safety and Training
I was wearing contacts for a while (gave it up). Anyhow, after 8 months of jumping, I finally lost one. It made landing a bit of a project because I had one eye with corrective lens, and one w/o. It really screws up depth perception. I wear sunglasses, so your choice. I didn't hesitate to continue wearing them after that... now I just gave up contacts and use my super-focusing ability Angela. -
Another happy Ouragon customer. Nancy is great, she will make you a great suit, and if for any reason it doesn't fit perfectly, will alter it beautifully in no time flat. I am really happy with my 2-pc suit. Of course, in Florida, I rarely wear the top Seen a lot of pix of females in Firefly suits, they are beautiful, too! Angela.

Maybe if you see something you like in the classifieds, you can ask an instructor or friend what they think of the deal. And, always have things sent to your rigger for inspection before sending funds. You only lose shipping if you don't want them. I got a used pd reserve for around 700$, but you can buy a new one for around 900-950$, I think. Just make sure with used reserves that you absolutely have it inspected before purchase. Sellers will usually have no problem sending an item to an intermediary (rigger at your dz) for inspection before you send them $. Definitely talk to your instructors before deciding on sizes for reserve/main if you are unsure. Certainly you'll get off cheaper buying used, but you will save time buying new. You just have to decide what you're more willing to part with (money/time) I bought everything used except for my Neptune alti and my sunglasses. I got my container, main, reserve, helmet, protrack & prodytter all used and in great condition. Take care. Angela

I would personally buy used mains until you are going to settle on something for several hundred jumps. Used harness/container system is not a bad idea, either, if you can find something in good shape that fits. But, ultimately, the choice is yours. Just realize that you are bound to downsize in the next hundred jumps since you are still a student now, so by the time your new gear is made (2+ months) you might be looking for something different (depending on how many jumps you make, etc). Definitely take Aggiedave's advice and talk this out with instructors and experienced jumpers at your dz unless you have lotsa $$ to burn. Good luck:) Angela.

Did you demo before you bought?
SkydiveNFlorida replied to jumper03's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've demo'd all of my mains before purchasing. I did not demo my reserve, container, helmet, or any of my altis, etc. Of course, my reserve is a PD which has a pretty damned good rep, so I didn't bother demoing because I'd already made up my mind that I wasn't buying any other reserve. Angela. -
In Broward power outages were pretty spotty. Our apartment lost power at 9:30am on Friday and we didn't get it back until a few hours ago. Half of my family's houses had power, half did not. A lot of trees are down in Century Village Deerfield Beach (old people community), and there is overall a lot uprooted foliage around the county. I'm at work in Sunrise and there was no power loss here at all. All in all, this could have been a LOT worse for us in Broward County, we definitely lucked out. A friend of mine near Tampa got flooded out, 2 feet of water in her home in Riverview. I hope Lake Wales fared ok, I am worried for them because they hadn't had a chance yet to recover from Charley. Happy cleaning everyone. As long as we have our lives and our gear, all else is replaceable Angela.

Wisdom teeth pain, when will it end??

Wisdom teeth pain, when will it end??
SkydiveNFlorida replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in The Bonfire
Well, it'll be a week tomorrow. I am going to try to find clove oil and hope for the best until the doctors are opened up next Tuesday. Hopefully I will feel better by then and won't need one. I doubt the doctors will see me tomorrow with the hurricane on the way. I know how you feel with the infections. My left side was getting infected on and off for over a year before I finally decided to do this. I've already been eating foods, ravioli, soft stuff. I'm making pudding tomorrow:) Thanks! Angela -

Wisdom teeth pain, when will it end??
SkydiveNFlorida replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in The Bonfire
Man, I was just reading about this dry socket thing, this is serious stuff! I'm scared now, what if the pain stays for a long time? :( I am going to call my real dentist tomorrow and ask if I can come for a 2nd opinion/possible treatment. I don't know if they'll be opened because of the hurricane, but it's worth a shot. I have a feeling that this is what I have as well after reading about it. Apparently, women are more susceptible than men, and it's more likely in women on birth control. Great. :( Angela. -
Are you ready for Talk Like a Pirate Day?

I almost spit out my soup when I read this title! Thanks for the giggle (just picturing you with a patch on your eye talking like a pirate, lol!) Angela. -

Thanks for replying. I went to an OS and didn't use any straws. If i'm still in pain on Monday after the storm is over, i'll go ahead and call my Gen Dentist. I am also on amoxicillin, but I started it a day late, I hope that didn't have anything to do with it. Thanks for the well wishes, if you can think of anything else I can do, don't hesitate to mention it. I'm all ears! [well, ears and painful jaw] Angela. -

Damnit! I was just at Whole Foods Market, too! I'll have to see if they have that at Walgreens tomorrow. Thanks! -A -
Tell me about it! I was at Publix earlier and there wasn't a D battery in sight! The place was a madhouse. There were only a few bottles of Fiji water left, no other water on the shelves. Luckily, I was in the aisle just as the guy was coming out with more water. You should've seen the people flocking to him, grabbing cases of water like it was... water! Yeah, that's it Angela.

Wisdom teeth pain, when will it end??
SkydiveNFlorida replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in The Bonfire
Wow! Unfortunatly, I can't take Aleve, it makes my stomach ulcers flare up... along with Ibuprophen. . I'm pretty much stuck with the pain since Tramadol has stopped working, and I doubt they will prescribe me morphine. Yeah, I suppose I could've stocked up on pain meds for friends... but i've seen too many people get sick with overdose, so I tend to not share such things anymore. I wish I could have taken a week off, work sux when you're in pain. I am feeling a little better right now, I took whatever was in the first aid kit and it calms the pain down a little. I just went to get some... guess what/?... soup My boss just told me the teabag thing, so i'm chilling some lipton bags as we speak. Thanks all! Wish my pain away when you wish the hurricane away, ok? That way I can go jump soon... because i've already found out jumping on pain meds is really not good. Angela. -
i'd have never thought to ask such a silly question. I can't believe that some people would shorten their lives just to be rich! My answer is not just no, but HELL NO! Angela.

I would think the guy would have told me if that were the case, so I don't think so. I don't smoke or anything. How would I know?? -A -

Oh, no you don't! You'll get them, everyone must go through this torture!! Man, doesn't anyone else have horror stories, and the subsequent relief stories, about their wisdom teeth? Angela. -
Wisdom teeth pain, when will it end??
SkydiveNFlorida replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in The Bonfire
I went back to the surgeon yesterday, they treated me like a big baby for coming back. He said, of course i'm in pain, and that it looks fine. :( All the good drugs have codine and make me sick:( Hurricane ESP, huh? I doubt that, but it certainly is another thing on the plate here. I live on US1, but on the west side and my windows face west... so, do I stay home and (hopefully) comfy, or do I evacuate and stay with family who will cause more than my tooth to ache? Damned if you do, damned if you don't. .. I think that's the saying. *sigh*. Angela. -
Wisdom teeth pain, when will it end??
SkydiveNFlorida replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in The Bonfire
:( I had my impacted wisdom teeth removed last Thursday from my lower jaw. I'm still in so much pain and the Dr. said that is normal. How long will it last? I've never been in so much pain in my life. Tramadol isn't working anymore and I can't take codine without vomitting. I'm also getting mighty sick of Cream of Wheat. Waahhhh. Angela.
