Funny, I guess i'd just assumed that the bulk of the increase at the pumps was due to a large increase in crude oil prices overseas... angela

David Lief Canopy Sale Problems
SkydiveNFlorida replied to Jumpmunki's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Man, that really sux! I guess things are a bit different being in another country, but I have had no problem with having canopies shipped to me pending funds. Generally, this goes through a dz, although in both cases they came to my home for inspection (my bf is a rigger). Rec'd, inspected, then paid for. I'm not trusting enough to paypal someone $$ b4 I have a product in my hands. Scary. Good luck on recovery of your funds. Angela. -
This has been my experience with my jedei. I have landed it straight in. It is not nearly as pleasant as landing a stiletto straight in, ime. I was posting my experience. My particular jedei lands great when swooped, but it doesn't do nearly as well when landed straight in. Angela.

I like to browse the classifieds to see how things are valued. It has become more tedius since the new block on the left has been added. This has made the subject catagory compressed and now read more vertically, than horizontally. It was more reader-friendly before. I think it might be helpful if you could collapse the new block on the left in order to expand the actual ads horizontally so that they may be viewed easier. ... Alternativly, tabs could be added to the top and the bar on the left done away with. (was that how it was before). maybe jmo? Great site, thanks! -
My experience .. Jedei : Longer recovery arc, helps with swooping even at light w/l. Doesn't land that great straight in Stiletto : Better openings Better with straight-in landings Short recovery arc ! Lighter riser pressure than the Jedei Still, If you're going to swoop, I personally like the Jedei for the longer recovery arc. If you plan to fly straight in more often than not, you might want to get the stiletto. jmo. Angela.

Just curious, what does your dz see wrong with putting a 100# girl under a sabre 230 even on jump #1? That is still a really light w/l. fwiw, I weigh more and made my first jumps on a sabre 190 and was fine. Angela. -
But, Edwards says that WE WILL WIN THE WAR IN IRAQ! So, it would seem that the ticket is still pro-war (hence my now very wishy-washy stance on candidates... imo, why bother voting if you dislike them both). angela.

I agree, I would refrain from going thru this online if possible (unless it is something others should definitely know about!). I, for some reason, thought it had been 6 weeks. 3 weeks, while still a lot, is not *as* bad. Still, seems to me like e-mail problems on the buyers part, and no need for bashing from them or on them... somtimes shit happens. I do agree that the phone should have been used before posting on here, I have no idea how much phone calls from Australia cost, tho. Certainly the post could've been more tactful. Sorry for the confusion, anyhow. Angela.

Where did you get that? err, bad eyes, I guess. Sorry, you're right, 3 weeks. (which isn't nearly as terrible!). angela.
-
Man, it's harsh on here. This person already waited 6 weeks. However, there do seem to be some communication issues, i'm sure they did attempt to e-mail about the item that was out of stock. Seems like a case of e-mail getting screwed up (on buyers side), not lack of patience. Angela.

FYI, I got PORNOGRAPHY when I clicked on the first link marked "here". Angela.

I think the price is closer to 300$ for a new protrack. I got mine used for ~180$. Works just fine:) Angela.

I'd call L&B, I hear their customer service is top notch! Angela.

Would you put a student out on a Javelin under SB03?
SkydiveNFlorida replied to PhreeZone's topic in Instructors
Are you implying that hook turn fatalities are in the same catagory as gear failure? I know of a fatality that was under a Stiletto that had nothing to do with hook turns, in fact, the canopy opened so hard it was what probably killed her. I've read all your posts in this thread and you did sound like you were jumping on Diablo. Looking at your profile, it appears you don't have the experience that he does and you might want to stop and listen to what he is saying instead of getting all uppity about it and egotistic about it. You cannot afford to stop learning/taking advice in this sport. If you do you WILL die. Judy I was NOT jumping on Diablopilot, he was simply the first reply, and the reply was that he would not inform his students. I was responding to that. Nothing about him personally. I think we all know that i'm new to the sport, Judy. There is no need for you to call me "uppity" just because I have an opinion and do not fear responding when someone opposes it just because I don't have 20 years in the sport. Also, please refrain from assuming that i'm not listening to all that is said here, That is simply not the case. I read and post on here because I WANT to learn. If I have a question or if I question someones motives, I will post. This is the ONLY comparison made so far that applies, imo. Angela. -

I think that's a good attitude:) Thanks, Bonnie, it is nice to know that my opinion is welcomed here even though i'm not an instructor and am pretty new in the sport. Angela. -

Are you implying that hook turn fatalities are in the same catagory as gear failure? I could understand if you compared this to the reserve that blew a bunch of cells and was unlandable. [?I believe that mfg had bartacks reinforced after that???] Or, I could understand if you compared it to a faulty designed main that folded under when you touched the risers (weren't there canopies that did this?). But, to compare faulty webbing to fatalities caused by hook turning hp canopies into the ground just doesn't sit right with me. Students jump these rigs. They can't be expected to be perfectly square in the harness at pull time. Experienced jumpers, otoh, can be expected not to hook turn into the ground, and if/when they do it is their own fault. I have read your comments. And, i'm honestly not sure what you mean by saying my comments are based on "ego". I am commenting based upon what i've read. I don't see how any of this builds my ego. Try not to dismiss people just because you don't get along with them, my opinion has nothing to do with you personally, JP. Angela. -

SkydiveNFlorida replied to PhreeZone's topic in Instructors
I don't relate these things to a safety issue like this one where two people have died. There are packers, and AFF instructors. I guess it comes down to having that much faith that this is really an inspection issue. I don't have that. After two deaths, one of which was at a dz that is commended for their rigging talent, I think that this is a fundamental flaw with the gear and that anyone who is jumping one of these harnesses is doing so at their own risk regardless of who inspected it. And, as my belief is such, it goes without saying that I feel students should be informed. Angela. -

SkydiveNFlorida replied to PhreeZone's topic in Instructors
I don't think I was terribly snippy. I was simply commenting on how easily my opinion was dismissed as babble being i'm a 'non-instructor'. Well, I wasn't replying to the question, I was replying to your reply. So, my understanding of the question is not a factor here. I DO think that the manufacturers of my container, main and reserve would issue service bulletins should something they have put out be unsafe. I rely on this site and my Parachutist for that type of info. ... An average student, on the other hand, isn't informed enough in the beginning of their jump career to find the information they NEED to know about these harnesses! just my non-instructor opinion. Angela. -

Oh, right. I'm not an instructor, so my non-instructor ethics don't mean shit in here. I forgot. Sorry. Later. Angela. -
You just never know when you're gonna get knocked out in freefall. This has been argued time and again, so do a search. I went without a cypres for over 100 jumps before I bought one, mostly because my boyfriend wanted me to have one, but i'm glad I got it! I don't think the Dolphin is freefly friendly(?), so if you plan on freeflying, you might want to re-think that choice. A container can last you a very long time, so get one that fits well and will be versitile enough to serve you whatever discipline you choose. I plan to have my container for another 400 jumps at least. Angela.

I bet the guy who just died would've liked to know about the guy who died from that same malfunction in Miami. I guess to some extent I can understand not wanting to tell them. No one in their right mind would feel safe after hearing that TWO jumpers died due to structural integrity of these rigs... and that the last one had been inspected before use. Angela. -
awww. now i'm starving!! So, got me thinking, wouldn't it be fun to MAKE sushi? ... http://www.miamibeach411.com/Events/04_07_20_sushi_classes.htm I'm considering it, just to have some fun! 75$ includes learning to make sushi, a dinner, saki tasting, and a "take home" kit. Anyone make sushi? Angela.
