  1. The jumper should have checked that himself on the ground. Yes, the packer should be paid. Although i'm sure there may be a few, I cannot see any reason NOT to pay your packer. If you choose to use a packer, you should pay them regardless of things like this, imo. These are the chances you take, and you should check your gear on the ground, anyhow. jmo. Angela.
  2. Outback has a yummy Rack of Lamb. If/when I go to outback, I order the Rack of Lamb or Victoria's Filet. Both are very good. Angela.
  3. Well, I assume supporting our troops means supporting the war... and, considering that our tax dollars are spent on this war, Americans do indeed support the war (whether or not they agree with it!). ... And, thereby support the troops. [No, I do not have a support sticker. I do not support this war (any more than my taxes force me to).] So, what is it that you feel these people need to do in order to "earn" their title as troop supporters? I would think that paying taxes and verbally expressing ones care and appreciation for the troops should earn them that title. (then again, in my opinion, the troops would be much better 'supported' by being brought home... the depth of my support is my hope for their safe return, rather than being left out there to die for Bush. Angela.
  4. Certainly the latter is more important. This is not in any way saying that I think that Bush has our country's best interests in mind. ... But, we've been through these arguments already. Just curious as to if anyone had heard this show, and the general opinion of what the President's english proficiency level should be. Personally, I think that the man who speaks on behalf of our country should do a better job with the language than a middle-schooler does. Angela.
  5. I hear ya there! But, they are also not in such high positions. I understand a mistake here and there, ... but, really, you should have heard this show! It was extremely funny to hear such a large amount of mistakes from GWB that I don't feel a sixth grader or above should make. Angela.
  6. For what? Neptune is awesome as a visual alti. Protrack's stats are way easier to get to for me, and seem to be more consistant. I'm glad I have both, though, because I really like the Neptune as a visual. I am not going to vote because I like them both for diff reasons. jmo angela.
  7. This morning on 'Big 105.9FM' Miami, the morning show was doing a game show where people would call in and get three catagories (something like): What was he talking about? What word was that? What did he mean to say? These catagories were accompanied by GWB speech clips, words, etc. This was very funny stuff! I know... you had to be there, right? Did anyone else hear this? I couldn't stop laughing!! And, while we're on the subject... Do you feel that a President's ability to communicate with clarity and eloquence is important? How important? Surely these "GWBushisms" were an example of our President's lack of communication skills. Angela.
  8. So, the consensus is that it should, indeed, be in the contract, then. So, if they won't modify it, i'll assume it is because they intended on screwing me over if something went wrong and i'll just figure something else out. Thanks everyone! Angela.
  9. Better yet, move in with the BF, make him pay all the rent and spend the money you save on jumps. lol! That's a great idea!! lol! Angela.
  10. I think a lot of people are different in person than online. Expressions don't show up in posts, so sometimes things are taken differently than they are meant as well. I don't think i'm terribly different. I sometimes wonder if Ron would be nicer in person... seriously. Angela.
  11. Right, but shouldn't that be in writing? Honestly, i'm mostly concerned about the window a/c. I've always had central air, and there was water damage to the place where the a/c was. I guess they replaced the a/c and fixed the damage (of course, I don't know if this just entailed painting over it in which case, could that be a safety problem? mold/mildew?). I am afraid that the unit will leak or break and I will have problems with it being fixed, or with damage it causes. Maybe I should just forget it and get a roommate in a nicer place instead. I hate this. I have 2.5 weeks to move. I have never been this last-minute before. *ugh*. Thx. Angela.
  12. hmm. Sounds like mixed opinions on this. I asked them to modify the agreement to include timely repair of appliances. Also, in their "security deposit" provisions, they included 'water damage' as responsibility of lessee, and I wanted that modify to disclude damaged caused by leaking a/c or by weather (this is Florida), which they did. Realistically, asking for them to modify the lease shouldn't be a problem if they intended on doing timely repairs, anyhow, right? You know, just to have all bases covered. But, I suppose that realistically speaking, Nightingale's post covers "electrical systems" which must include a/c, right? Am I just nit picking, or are these valid concerns? I suppose having worked with small amounts of legal paperwork, you tend not to accept someones word but rather require it in writing. ugh.. they are probably already thinking "tenant from hell" anyhow. lol! Angela.
  13. For a rental apartment, should mention be made in the lease agreement that maintenance/service for appliances should be made by lessor in a timely manner? Or, is this to be taken for granted? I have always lived in large communities/luxury apts, and i'm considering a small studio in a small building... but i'm kinda scared. no central a/c, wall unit. Small place, no huge apt complex w/onsite maintenance. Any info/help is appreciated. :) Thoughts? thx. Angela.
  14. Funny, when I read your comment above, "Juvenile" was the first thought in my mind as well. Grouping people together (giving all a bad name) for the actions of a few is certainly not what i'd call "mature". I might have be offended by your calling me a "cheap, punk-ass shitwad hypocrite" if I hadn't already lost so much respect for your opinion by reading other unnecessarily judgemental posts of yours. Later. Angela.
  15. Awesome pix!! Those guys rock!! Now I'm truly sure of what I want to be when I grow up It must be so awesome to be THAT comfortable with your canopy... truly an extention of you. Angela.
  16. Freeflying just seemed more fun to me. Plus, bellyflying made my back hurt, lol! I guess hooking up with a freeflyer at 30 jumps also helped because I had someone to fly with/learn from:D So, i'm another that didn't get any real belly skillz b4 ffing, but since I don't desire to be on group rw jumps, it really doesn't matter much. If you are stable on your belly and can turn and track with control, then I see no reason you can't freefly. jmho angela.
  17. Try not to do S turns much. If you know you're going to be high, try to make a tear drop rather than a perfect rectangle (on downwind teardrop out to get further from your target as to extend your base leg, or take it downwind further). S-turns distract other jumpers and cut people off, they are no fun for anyone Try to be predictable. It is better to land a small distance from your target than to make unpredictable s-turns (obviously, avoid obstacles, etc), you should be coming in straight on final approach so that jumpers behind you don't need to worry. Angela.
  18. As a student, I was comfortable with the 1000 feet pattern. I think I used it until I had upward of 80 jumps actually. For a conservative approach, as a newer jumper, I don't think that the 1000 foot entry is a bad thing. It is easy to see on your altimeter, easy to remember, gives students and conservative pilots a lot of time for adjustment and without worry of being rushed they can keep a good eye out for other canopies. Just my thoughts. Angela.
  19. Cute! Thanks for sharing, Jaye:) So, um, Wrongway... what's the reputation she is trying to get rid of, anyhow? Angela.
  20. Wow, I didn't know women had the power to create puppies. We truly are versitile, aren't we? Angela.
  21. On the actual altimeter, or in the log? I have had those problems with the log function, but the actual alti has always read spot on during the dive. I have found it to be an awesome altimeter, although I don't have the "latest" update and i'm too lazy since I got a protrack to worry about the inaccurate logging on mine. Note that Alti-2 has offered for me to send it in for them to update and all, but it isn't that I can't do it myself, i'm just too lazy to try yet again with the logging right now. Angela.
  22. Actually, Ron. You are misinformed. That does happen, you know? I was not "kicked off" of any dzs, but one dz told me that if I wanted to jump there I would not be jumping an elliptical. I opted to leave with my elliptical canopy at that time. Instead of spreading bullshit, you should check your sources/info. Anyone who tells you I was kicked off of any dz is completely incorrect. edit to add: furthermore, in response to : I am not ADVISING anyone in this thread. I gave my opinion of strict rules concerning types of canopies, and even excluded wings that I have had no experience under and have no opinion on (xbraced). So, once again, your need to bash someone has caused your fingers to type a reply faster than your mind can comprehend what you have read. Not the first time, and won't be the last I am sure. Angela.
  23. Quote>Of course, for some it takes longer than others, but it just sucks that >because a couple of guys want to load a canopy they are not ready > for extremely high, those that can competently set our their limits > (which may not fall within the restrictions, but they are not > completely radical) have to pay with tight restrictions. Not with our plan. You can "test out" of any restrictions by demonstrating proficiency in front of a canopy coach or instructor. And if it turns out that they are jumping a canopy that they can't land well? They may not have chosen their own limits so well after all. That makes sense, then. If they want more, then take the initiative to learn to handle it. Instruction is worth its weight in gold. Angela.
