  1. eew! Any particular area? This sux. Doesn't look like it's gonna hit Broward from the projected path they give, but everyone i've talked to says if power goes out, it'll be out for a while. And, last time our power went out before the hurricane even hit and was out for 3 days even though our area didn't even get the worst of it. This sux! What are YOU buying to stay comfy in the storm? Give me some ideas so that I can go out tomorrow and buy some stuff. I've got plenty of 'd' batteries. So, add some stuff to my list: -Puzzle(s) -more wine (Maybe i'll make some Meatballs, too. Chef Boyardee sux! ) -A.
  2. U have GOT to be kidding, right? ? You're kidding, I just know it! Marine biology rocks! In fact, i'm actually *considering* switching my major over to Marine Bio, even though i've got all of the lower level engineering courses done (except Diff eq, i'm taking that now). Fuck $$, happiness is more important!
  3. Maybe girls just make you laugh. I think Happythoughts is pretty funny, too. Hookit and GFD also make me laugh. Angela.
  4. Yes, you're right... we're all starving because we spend too much $$ jumping! j/k. Not many large people get into the sport.. maybe because they won't take tandems of a certain size? Or, people who are 300lbs are just (generally) not all that motivated. Of course, there are exceptions... huge muscular people maybe. I dunno. Personally, i've gained weight since I started in this sport. I gave up keeping coral reef tanks (very expensive) instead of giving up eating (also very expensive the way I do it). -A
  5. yes, thank you! We're all quite sick of this now. It was fun the first couple of times I got out of work with pay, but now it's just annoying. Angela.
  6. Jail is not the same as prison. They don't sleep on benches for ## years. Jail is temporary, prison is semi-permanent to permanent. They are not THAT bad... but that doesn't mean that they are THAT good, either. I think that being in prison without being able to read, exercise, move about, would drive someone to insanity. The hope in many cases is that after a prisoner has served his/her time, they will be able to be rehabilitated and return as a functional member of society. That probably wouldn't happen with someone who has had little to no interation with the outside world, has been isolated, treated cruely, etc. Angela.
  7. After that rant, i'd like to see how you actually adjust there. My point was not that it SHOULD be a dayspa, but rather arguing that it is not (someone else was pretty much stating it was). They are being punished, that's why they don't get to walk the streets, doing as they please, spending time playing sports with their kids, etc. Get over it. If you haven't been there, stop complaining that it is too nice. I've spent my entire life visiting prisons and associating with people in them, so I think I know a tad more than you do about the conditions there... and, like I said, they are not day spas. Later. Angela.
  8. From the pd article: So, I guess my question is, are you more likely to be in a 2-out situation, than be knocked out in freefall? And, if so, why do people push for larger reserve canopies if they don't fly well together? Just throwing some stuff out there. I'm scared to death to ever be in this situation myself. angela.
  9. I like my tuna with finely chopped onions and olives mixed in. Then, top with potato chips and serve on white:) Angela.
  10. You mean stop making prison a fucking day camp? Not let prisoners lift weights? Hold people accountable for how they act? Actually make prison un-fun? Why did I know you would have a problem with that? Look on the bright side...They will get free health care. I know people in prison. I don't know if you've been there (you might have?), but state prison is not a day spa. And, the medical isn't all that great, either. Teeth problems... that doesn't call for a root canal or whatever, it calls for a tooth removal. Liver problems, good luck. Now, I know people who have gone to federal prison who say it IS a day spa with compare to state. -A
  11. I use 18's and I am 5'6"...But I am a guy. I can use 21's, but it's not as easy to pull the slider down....So I have to look at it...I'd rather not look and be able to keep my eyes on the people around me. Well, I currently have 21" risers. I had 22", but it was near impossible to get the slider without turning my canopy. I've ordered my voodoo and it comes with 19.5" risers. If those don't work out, i'll get another set, but Sandy sounded confident that they'd work well. I also opted for the pimpdaddy stainless steel hardware. Thanks all! Angela.
  12. That's pretty cool... I didn't know Dr's did that. Sounds like there wouldn't be such issues if more doctors cared about patients, like yourself, rather than just about $$. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect a Doctor to sleep in a crackhouse and help the poor, but a nice gesture now and again is cool, and there are so many doctors that just one nice deed a month would add up. But, this is idealization. Realistically, this won't happen. Angela.
  13. I have no intention of buying a gun at this point and probably not ever. I don't believe in hunting animals, unless you are truly going to eat the whole thing, just like I don't like sport fishing. You shoot a harmless creature, you should eat it! I have better shit to spend my time on than shooting stuff. I guess maybe if I could not outsmart a cat w/o a gun, I might consider it. I see no real reason to own a gun, really... hell, if everyone thought the same thing, there would be a lot less needless deaths in this world. Regardless of what the stats are, the chance of shooting someone I know is not worth owning a gun to me, even if that chance is only 1%... Still, I bet the chances are better than actually harming or warding off an intruder. In fact, i'll bet a large dog would do a better job of that. And, no, I do not wish to shoot a certain someone who might have 'forgotten' to do the dishes, either Angela.
  14. *looks at the dirty dishes in the sink* god, I hope not. -R HAHAHAHAHAHAH!! Angela.
  15. I just can't help but laugh at this statement!! (no, not the grammar) Wow, you have such confidence in Bush. It does seem impossible that such an idiot could win against a stronger (than Kerry) dem candidate (and by Stronger, I don't mean signifigantly stronger. The race is pretty close now). Personally, I don't like either candidate. I just don't hate Kerry as much as I hate Bush. Angela.
  16. Insurance coverage can be very expensive if you are joining as an individual (not part of a 'group'). Now, take a husband with a blue-collar job w/no insurance, a wife who stays home w/ their three young children, and you can easily see how he can't easily afford health insurance for his family. So, let his children die of sickness? Nope. There are programs like Healthy Kids that insure the children of these types of households. And, there is Medicaid for poor adults. Not everyone has the skills to get a good job, and if everyone did, we would have a whole lot of lesser-paying jobs unfilled. I don't know how to fix it, but I think it is important that everyone be able to seek medical attention. And if that means that I pay a little more so that some kids can go see a doctor, well I can't see the harm in that. Didn't some President refuse to let us outsource for pharmaceuticals? I understand they are much cheaper from Canada. Maybe i'm mislead. -A.
  17. I'm laughing at this one too. Can't imagine just having 'A' gun in the house. That's like having a screwdriver and no other tools and expecting to build a house. Oh, yes, silly me. I better go stock up now... can't risk having a room w/o a gun it it... that would bring the chances of death to someone I know down signifigantly. Angela.
  18. Okay, now that is funny. . I am against death penalty (just in case there is no reincarnation) that is not to say that some people do not deserve to be killed. Some of them deserve to be killed several times, however, with death penalty you are giving the goernment too much power. Besides, i do not believe in the justice system. It is proven that not everybody has the same chances when facing a trial. It depends your race, how much money you have to get good lawyer, politics. But, poor non-white criminals deserve worse than weathy white criminals... it's just a known fact! Seriously, I agree, the system is indeed flawed. I don't have enough faith in it to think that no innocents will wrongly convicted, and if anyone does have that kind of faith in it, they probably need to take a second look. again, jmo. Angela.
  19. Right, kill 'em all because no one is ever wrongly imprisoned. On another note, you own a gun, right? What happens if you accidentally shoot someone, maybe a friend who you thought was a robber? Shit happens. People are wrongly accused. People make mistakes. We are an imperfect race and to cut lives short for first offenses quite possibly may not be the best system. I've always been for the death penalty, but when you stop and think about it, there are a lot of reasons to be against it. I'm sure i've not named half of them. Angela.
  20. Yeah, after trying on my boyfriend's rig last night, i've decided on the narrow. Thanks! Angela.
  21. Hi, Lany. I really like the Nuvaring the best of all i've tried. It is low hormone because it releases right where it is needed rather than going thru your bloodstream, therefore no mood swings or sexual side effects i've seen. Also, I don't feel it, or see it, and I don't have to remember it every day, either. Only twice a month: Insert, wait 3 weeks, remove, wait one week repeat. My boyfriend doesn't mind it, either, so this is what i'm sticking with! I hated bc pills because I got mood swings and also had sexual side effect (ie, not in the mood, difficult to orgasm, etc). Angela.
  22. I asked if he heard many girls complain of walking with the wide leg straps. He said, some, but if it is a concern, i'd probably be perfectly happy with the narrow (which are normal rather than double-wide). I am still on the fence about it, actually, I was just thinking about it. I'm sure after 8 jumps, those wide straps would be a blessing. I don't have extremely skinny legs or anything (23.5" with pants on), but I'd hate to feel extremely uncomfortable walking in my rig,.. although, I spend the same or more time under canopy than walking in the rig I think. hmmm. Angela.
