B Liscense aerial performance requirements
Fast replied to PlayDough's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What is it, something like 3000 feet? Like 6 sec to 1000feet, so if you can do that between 12k and 9k your gtg. If I remember fall rate right. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. I think you may be thinking of a reserve ripcord pull chant. On a normal student rig, you can't normally see the PRCP handle, unless you are a contortionist. But the reserve handle chant does go: arch look reach pull. At my DZ they still train the Arch, look, reach, pull for the main on the ripcorded student rigs. The gear they have has a hip located rip cord. I did aff and I always forgot to look, found it easier to just get thier with my hand and pull. I didn't need to look because I trained it into my mind where it was. Now with BOC, you can't see it anyways so it doesn't matter. ---- On the other note, everyone is right about practicing on the ground. Before I even went to do aff I spent probally 2 weeks practicing my arch every day. Wanted to make sure I had it nailed (I did, well enough that I was falling pretty fast) One thing to keep in mind is that, even if you completely screw up the whole jump and you make it to the ground, and back to the gear room with your student gear... It should of been fun. What!?!?! Fun!?!?! The dive went to hell.... yeah, so what your still jumping out of a "perfectly good airplane", and even if its a crappy dive its still fun. There are hundreds of jumps ahead of you to have more fun too, you just have to get over the hump of learning. When you are looking at the ripcord are you really just looking at the ground? You can look at the ripcord just fine (if its in line of sight) but you see the ground too which might freak you out a bit. If you just concentrate on keeping your head up looking at the plane you will be more relaxed. I know that the first time I saw the plane fly away I was elated... was pretty cool. I'm just a newer jumper though, so what I said can only be taken from that perspective. After long enough, you would be left wanting. Mid winter would hit, the cold gray bleak winter, and you would be regretting not having made more jumps in hopes of getting your Lic, or finding a dz that takes students through the winter. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Yeah but there are DZs in michigan that do. If it was me I would try hard to get aff done, and get your Lic. if you have 10SL and 4 AFFs already you can probally get there before winter is too bad. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. How did you get started w/ skydiving?
Fast replied to skydivingdutch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Always had some facination with flying. When having to choose flying or invisibility or x-ray vision as a superpower I always choose flying. Had falling dreams as a kid, always been obsesed with something that flys (fav show when I was young was Airwolf, go figure) Anyways fast-forward to now, In may I went to skyventure because it 'looked and sounded cool.' Did the 2min $30 tourist thing there, talked to I belive Arlo who told us a lil bit about skydiving. Had a blast, came home from vacation, looked up the local DZ and did a tandem. Which hooked me, and here I sit! -
Its this picture, and you can get it to work if you mess around a bit... not very straight forward though. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Swooping is taking one last poke at the bear before escaping it's cave - davelepka

I ahve been told by some pretty experienced people that, as long as there are no walkthroughs, major line twists, brakes stowed, and risers secure, it will open... It wants to open, and really... its trying to open even when your closing it. But I'll keep on propacking it. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. I think it just comes down to taking a slow look at the canopy and learning the differnt linesets and how they fall into place. You just have to become good at determining the a,b,c,d and stearing lines, and all the lines that are attached to stabalizers. Find some of the pictures that are out on the net, and just go over it a few more times. Learning to pack can take some patients (I should know, I just learned ) ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Sounds like a pretty fun job

The DZ that I jump at uses saber2s for the transition gear between the student ripcord rigs, and the BOC sport rigs. So I don't think they are that out of line for newer jumpers. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. There are people by me that have started AFF late in the season, and despite that fact that my DZ jumps all year, have gone down to Florida in the winter to finish off thier A lic. It gets pretty cold in wisconsin, and I think doing aff in the cold would suck. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. A few months ago you could find me asking very similar questions. I never rode the plane down, but I did get nervous everytime I went up. I still do some, but not like before, its just a thought in my head to make sure that I am checking all the things that I need to be loooking at before I step out the door. As for the perfect exit, freefall, canopy rid, anything... Good luck at finding that, because I'm sure there are people that have been in this sport for a hell of a lot longer then people like us, and a lot of them are still looking too i would bet.
