  3. That is the simple end of it. The hard part, and probaly most important part, is finding the right gear for your experience level. And then finding what you will be comfortable with, whats safe, and what fits you right, etc. Its a process that in the end will leave you very happy. I am going through buying my first rig right now, and have spent quite a bit of time reading, talking to instructors, people on here, etc. Hope to find what I'm looking for soon. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me.   4. Welcome to the forums, and a rigger should be able to take care of getting your gear together. And, as for what specific gear to buy, let me extend what most people will. Its extreemly hard to recomend gear to somone over the internet. There is no reasonable way to know experience levels, and the such. People will be able to suggest brands as general that they like, what features and charictaristics a particular item has. So model/brand is easier, size is rough. Best people to talk to are your aff instructors. As for the buying part, often you can buy some or all parts as a set, or you can get stuff seperatly.   6. The number refers to the square footage of the canopy. These days with tapered/semi-tapered canopys it is rough to relate them exactly to a length * width type of thing. You use the square footage of the canopy to determine wingloading (LBS / Sq Ft) of the canopy. There are also other things that you can infer from the canopy size. Generally speaking for a particular model of canopy, the smaller the faster, and more responsive. I just want to say, that there are many reasons to cutaway, and there are some situations where you may have gotten away with not cuting, but your alive to come ask the people on the forums, and well... thats a good thing.   9. Can't always understand something when you want to. I have found that in life, there are many things that a person will do, have happen, experience, etc,... that they do not get to understand till some time into the future of thier life. If everyone always understood why things happend, and what the greater meaning/purpose was then life would be pretty borring and we would all have all the answers. (Being pretty general) I'm sure that at some point you will look back and say 'I get it' and at that you will feel better. When I was doing aff I spent quite a bit of time thinking about mals, and well.. i just turned it into constructive thinking about what I would do in the given situation. Eventually I began to feel confident that I know what to do in the even if a midair emergency. I used to have pretty bad door fear, but that has subsided quite a bit, and I have a lot more fun on jumps now

  13. Got my A last weekend, its thursday (end of week for me) should be able to jump all weekend, and then to top it off there is going to be a casa around next weekend.
  14. Not sure about whats in the area. I thought I heard that there was one in ohio or something like that, but don't quote me, I looked around on the net and couldn't find refrence to it.   20. As many other people have probally said in the past, Scott is a really great coach. He just spent the weekend at my home DZ running a couple advanced classes, and a novice class. (Being that he is not in the US, I don't think the sim would help) One thing that I know, regardless of the rules for staying current in whatever book you look at, staying current is good because it keeps your skills up, and you don't forget as many of the little things that need to happen to have a safe trip to the ground.   23. Yeah, people were not happy about the choice of closer. Considering the amount of build-up people were expecting more.
