I have seen some video of test jumping where there are 2 people on a tandem, and some video of tandem drops with a payload that is not a person I doubt I would say they are darwin award candidates, unless the gear wasn't properly designed there can be a safe way to do it. Well, if your reserve is entangled with your main, you best be trying to untangle that shit now shouldn't you In all reality yes, skydiving is not the most forgiving sport, one mistake, or many small ones in a row, or even just one small one can cost you your life. Thats why the instruction and saftey procedures that are taken are given a lot of thought. We train into our heads all the things that we can do to help reduce the risk. I found that when I started jumping, I did a tandem, and wasn't really that nervous till I saw people droping out the door. Then a friend droped out, then I went, and all was good. Signed up for AFF, did my first 2 jumps then got nervous. I think for people that are under 10 jumps or so, you still are in the phase where you think your tempting luck/fate that the 'thing' will open and that you can get to the ground safely. Now, I have 40 jumps, and freely (and repeadetly) jump. As much as I can, its the greatest thing, but I didn't realize this till I got over my door fear... took like 8-10 jumps for it to go away. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. For me AFF was fun. Shit every jump is fun. Went out on a 5-way a few jumps ago, 3 experienced people and me and another that both are low jump numbers. Only built once and it was a pretty funny sight to see, but I had a blast doing it, anyways back on topic... AFF is cool, introduces you to freefall fast, and gets you learning to fly your body. This actually happens? Its not hard to just let go At my DZ all the AFF rigs are BOC Rip Cord so conversion is normally simple. Learning to let go isnt hard. Also, I only really relied on muscle memory when pulling during my first few jums. Now it is a concious effort. Yes it actually happens. When you use a ripcord they drive it in your head to not let the thing drop or you have to pay for it, or buy a case of beer. So naturally when you first jump a throw out, you hold onto that thing with a deathgrip, till you realize uhh yeah nothings comming out... duh... still holding the PC. Well, they are actually closer to the same container. If my reading is right, the Micron came out as an improvement on the Vector3 and it was designed to hold smaller canopys. The Vector 3 M cam out shortly after utilizing the improvements of the Micron. Or so I thought. I have jumped a vector, and I have tried a odyssey on. If I just had to compare wearing the two on the ground I would say the vector is more comfortable, and I liked where the container sat on my back more. This may have been an issue of the vector being better sized for my body (Neither rig was mine) or an overall differnce. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me.
