  1. Roy, That's bullshit and I think you know it. are you grinding an old axe? I'm not try to stir up shit, so please don't think I am. You can check me out if you wish. I have owned 4 Javelins (by choice) and packed a couple of hundred more. They are as easy to deal with as any other mfr. out there. I've called for rigging advice from all mfr's and have always received the same prompt. courteous, results to my questions (even today on an unclear issue). Lisa will receive the same great customer service as she would receive from any other mfr. If she dosen't she can let me know and I'll fix her problem, guaranteed. This is not an attack so please take it as one. All mfr's are in business to sell equipment and keep ALL of us jumping. No one in this business makes mistakes or sends out faulty equipment intentionally! Tim T. Team Paraclete
  2. Deuce, It was great to meet you at Nationals even if only for a few minutes. I also discovered a pin that had frayed nearly halfway through the type 4 (it was a pull out). I had not worked on the rig in over a year and it had approx. 100-150 jumps since I did the original assembly. Here are my thoughts. It is very tough to detect as the type 4 is cut by the burr(s) from the inside. I changed out the pin and gave the original to the manufacturer who also took the time to write down the S/N of the rig...hence...further investigation The mfr explained that when the pins are stamped and if the stamping dye is worn a burr can be made but is very tough to tumble out because it is on the inside of the hole. This was a very small burr and those who have been around long enough to remember brass or zinc plated brass grommets can attest to them not only coming from the mfr but developing over time due to use, misuse etc. I'm certain that if the owner contacts the mfr it will be "made right." In summary..thorough inspections are the key to maintenance. Tim T. Team Paraclete

I spent many a weekend in Pope tower earning my rating and watching the Raeford Twinbo (back in the day, yes I am old) go to altitude on radar whicle keeping Pope's airspace safe for military pilots. I even saw returns from the tandem (or student) canopies. OK, let not argue canopy radar signature vs. density of the jumpers body. I've read most of it ad nauseum. Tim T. Team Paraclete
  10. If you're referring to Bill Matthews I want to add a comment (not to be confused with a personal attack which is against the rules, and understandably so). That guy did more to hinder the progress of military freefall than any human could have! I have friends who were hurt conducting combat MFF jumps into Afghanistan because "bigger is better" ruled and not "hey, let's looks at this new design in the sport market and adapt it to MFF." If I offended anyone, get over it. The facts remain the same. Rant over. Tim T.

  13. I was speaking with Scott Rhodes last night and here are the highlights. While the camera is a member of the team, he/she is there for the judges (think back to the ground to air days). This also was a reason that most teams did not wear neon colors or red during the 8mm days (bleed), to make it easier on the judges. Scott also brought up spirit of the rules. Now I have not read them but understand the concept is the camera establishes him/her self over the team and remains in that relative position only until they are required to move. I'm not a camera guy and I can appreciate the adage "if you're not cheating, your not trying" followed by "if you get caught, you weren't trying hard enough" the fact is a cross is a cross and the top teams got busted.   16. Airspeed is up by 4 after Rd. 8. Also, the meet director controls the pace. The meet director normally wants everything to finish on the last day so everyone is obliged to stay until the end. That was my experience at Gap last year where there were no aircraft shortages. Tim T. Team Paraclete

  21. Dubbayab (aka. WB), In response to my post, you sent me a PM that said "suck this troll." OK, I am fine with that, but consider I it a personal attack and assume you may conduct a personal attack in the form of a PM. I am fine with that also. However, here is my opinion of your original post. An intentional cutaway without the proper equipment (an intentional cutaway rig) is the absolute dumbest thing a person could do. I base this on 17 years of experience (2650 jumps), being an FAA rigger since 1988, and AFF I since 1991, a tandem instructor since 1992 (and currently hold both rating in the US and UK), and having watched more people, take more chances, and not walk away, than you have seen in your 600 jumps. Additionally, I apply my "life experiences" as they relate to a 24 yr. military career (mostly in Special Operations) and "risk management" which in my book equates to every decision I make from the moment I wake up until the time I go to bed and includes everything from my equipment selection (motorcycle helmet, speed at which I drive, to reserve parachute, and AAD). I appreciate the question, but it was worded in a way that made it seem like a troll. So, in summary, ask away, knowledge is power. If you feel a personal attack is necessary, please feel free to call me (PM for phone number) and at least do it on the phone where I can hopefully, determine your point of reference in person (rather than from a somewhat ambiguous profile).
