So anyone ever shoot a RPG *** Nope, just shot AT with an RPG.

I heard on the news that Delta was cutting their prices. I don't know if it applies to intl travel though. You may want to wait a week or 2 and see if it does. Tim

I know a 3 time world and 7 time national champion that still uses one.

***So I always assume they're loaded and drop magazine (if needed) and lock the slide open. Then again, usually my weapons ARE loaded so its a good rule for me. -------- I know what you mean Dave. The Glock 19 in the left nightstand is loaded w/17 and the Kimber TCII in the right nightstand is loaded w/7. Now I have to consider how to keep the long gun....

Former GK Pedro Munoz Killed In Afghanistan

Great sadness. John, I know you will post memorial service details ASAP. When you do, I'll blast them out to the people on my "network" -
Old Man (not your real name), I was basing the ONLY response to your post on my memory. No, I do not know if they still have it but it's worth a phone call IMO. The second part was aimed at the Big-Headed Greenie aka John Hawke who is a close friend....and would most likely help me "move a body"...please advised if you need more info into that sarcasm... Call Sunshine Factory for the Kevlar and if they don't have it come to Raeford and I'l buy you a beer (or 7).

Quote --------------- I'm amazed I still remember this stuff....I must be getting old... -------------------------------------------------- I can't believe you just lobbed that one over the net at me! Here comes the spike! Backatcha! John -- No, back at you...the fuse is burning...PS: I'm sorry I can't figure out the quote, cut, and paste thing but...here it comes.... You might (and probably do) use Grecian...oh yeah, I can't do "clicky either".... but I don't know how.... PS: still ran a 21:00 3 mile this morning....did you? PPS: Can I get a... quote, cut, copy, paste, "clicky" class sometime soon....old man? Miss you and the wife and kids out here lately...let me know if you need a recurrency class

Check with the Sunshine Factory in Z-Hills. They built some of the earliest collapsable PC's in the industry and the entire length of the bridle was lined with the stuff. I'm pretty sure they will be your "small quantity" source. I'm amazed I still remember this stuff....I must be getting old... Tim T. Team Paraclete

OK, to sum up this thread, every component can (and may) fail. It is up to the jumper to be knowledgeable of theor own gear.... Just my thoughts follow...I am a rigger, not a packer (and yes, I use a packer...often)..but the responsibility for my equipment rests with me and my knowledge).. Learn you equipment!...read the mfr's websites...do what they recommend, they TESTED and built it, they should know! While I am not IMO a professional rigger (in that I do not make my living from rigging), I, as a rigger, live by the Army rigger motto of "I will be sure...Always!" Just my thoughts.... Tim T. Quick question for you military freefallers - they show the rucksack at one point as a belly mount - why do they eventually place it behind the legs with no belly mount? Would you be wearing that rucksuck on the back without any additional gear up front? I can imagine that an additional 40-60lbs on the back of legs has to be hell on any jumper. --- Depends on team SOP and personal preference. I prefer it up front. I can fix something weird up front, harder to judge if it's behind me. I was in the tunnel the other day with a really weirdly shaped ruck and it definitely required some work to figure out. Tim T. Jumpers not learing about gear?
usskydiver replied to cvfd1399's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
AMax brings up a good point. As a (your) rigger, I see your gear every 120 days (unless you have a problem). However, the inventor (or at least brought to skydiving) of the 3-ring calls for the monthly maintenance of the 3-ring assembly.. Therefore, as an instructor (and a plea to other instructors), let take a few minutes and explain maintainance. Weather days can be educational....create the curiosity, then satisfy it.... Tim T. Dress for success. As the sport gets more specialized, so does the equipment. I don't mean to be a a$$ but no one ever won the Tour De France on a mountain bike. Tim T. Team Paraclete

There is no reason (IMO) to charge extra to a pack the reserve of someone who elects to jump a pop top vs. someone who elects not to. I justify it as a "balance" ...as in it alll evens out... Tim T. Team Paraclete Master Rigger

I should...but he knows he owes me (like in prison)

I have never paid more than $35 for a reserve repack in the state of North Carolina. They might charge more up in north Raleigh, but there are about fifty riggers here in Fayetteville that will pack anything you like for $35. Over half of them are master riggers. I was fascinated that they were getting like $75 at Perris for a standard repack. Likewise, I am sure my dad still charges $35 down at his place in Opelika. Chuck --- And sometimes it's pizza and beer....by the way, where's my pizza and beer Biotch??

I have a suunto vector and the instructions specifically DO NOT recommend it for skydiving. I know some base jumpers who use it for that.

wow!! My Rigger told me I have rubber bands on my reserve bag

Feb...excpect the slower 4 and 8 way blocks to go away....heavy "foreign" influence to make that happen...sucks to be a judge (I'm glad I'm not one). Tim T. Team Paraclete

I'm an amateur also (with only 1,000 reserve pack jobs). Rigging is my hobby and not my primary source of income. I do it for friends and by request. PS: I wonder if I am undercharging by charging 75$ to disassemble and rig, wash it, and put it all back together? Tim T. Team Paraclete
