Danny's ashes will be released at 7:50 pm on 28 Apr. Before the ash release, there will be a great day of skydiving, dinner (BBQ) and Miller Lite to follow. Tim Tennant -
I'm at the DPRE seminar as I type this and brought it up to one of the Course Directors (also a rigger). His opinion is that if a Master rigger signs it off. It's good as gold. Who know what a court of law would say? Therein lies the dilema. Tim Tennant

When I lose two of my best friends on the planet on the same jump, I have to force myself not to cry, but I still do. To Danny and Bob, We've trained together, fought together, jumped together, drank together, laughed together. I love both of you. Rest in peace my brothers. I am saddened beyond words. Tim Tennant -
Burr on main closing pin cuts through bridle.
usskydiver replied to Deuce's topic in Gear and Rigging
Wayne, On the surface it appears there is a sharp edge that caused the bridle failure. OK, here's the tough part...do you pack or hire a packer? I love the people who pack for me but don't hire "just anyone" as I jump a POP which some consider outdated but I love...minus 1 reserve deployment (my fault)... The question goes back to "responsibility" in a court of law...yours, the packer, the rigger.... As the equipment owner, I feel the responsibilty is mine...but I am a Master Rigger...the ethical question becomes...who do you trust?...yourself?, your packer?, your rigger? My thoughts...You own and trust your life to your rig, your packer (assuming you use one) packs it, your rigger, inspects and repacks what you provide (and pay) for what he/she does for you.... IMO it's about trust in a couple of things...how much YOU know your gear and how much you trust someone to tell you what is wrong with the gear that is saving you life on every jump. I welcome the feedback.... -

It's your opinion. Read this: http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/hrdopn.pdf

I have one of those bags on one of my Javelins (about 100 or so jumps) and you would be suprised at the amount of tension on the lines. Both rigs are the same size and have the same mains (V 103's) and I can't tell the difference in openings. Tim
-
How tight (and how small or large) are your line stows? I used to use mini rubber bands on the locking stows and double wrap microline tube stows on the side stows. Line stows make more of a difference than most people think. Tim Tennant

Michelle, I'm pretty much the same way after 25 years of early morning workouts courtesy of the USAF. However, I have changed a lot of that. There are many great (and not so great) ideas out there. What I do now is use a Myoplex Lite shake (made w/ skim milk) for my early 9-10 AM meal. It's available quite reasonable from www.allstarhealth.com. My mid day meal is normally soup and my "standard salad" (cucumber, tomatoe, salsa jack cheese) with a dressing of virgin olive oil, basalmic vinegar, and garlic pepper. My afternoon snack if a Clif bar product (Clif, Luna, or Builders bar). My pre ride snack is a Clif shot or Carb boom gel. Then I go for my bike ride (25-50 miles). My dinner is one of those really convenient Campbell soups as it's getting kind of late by then. This "diet" seems to be working as I'm lighter, stronger, and faster than I have been (except for the recently fractured collar bone) Just my thoughts.... Tim

Nice! Here's my Ducati 748L however, my broken collarbone prevents me from riding or jumping Tim

Depends on the laws of the state. Do not even get caught with that in Massachusetts. You will be blues'n....

Now that's not really fair... I would not be so foolish to take my firearms to the dz... whoever did that was just reckless and stupid. Furhter, alcohol and firearms do NOT mix. Mine go to the range or stay in their little places where I occasionally go and pet them... (pet, pet, pet) If I live on the DZ can I have a loaded Glock 19 in one night stand and a loaded Kimber TC II in the other? Tim T.

"Know when to act" and "Always evaluate" are worlds apart. Dicking around for 15 min evaluating whether to bash a proffesor in the teeth is a lifetime. That kind of dithering is unacceptable. t Good point but consider this...he was not under fire when "2. Know when to act without hesitation" is an absolute requirement. If true, he had time to evaluate the situation and possible outcomes. You always have time to evaluate. You no not always have the same amount of time to evaluate.
-
So.... what took him so long? t One must always evaluate the situation and possible outsomes.....
