  1. Grant, Don't forget the difference between "shown at PIA" and "available to the general public"
  2. I just got the Moutain Hardware one and it kicks ass. I saw the columbia knock off and if I hadn't gotten the MH one for free, would have bought the columbia. The zippers aren't as nice, but overall good design.
  3. I have VE-25 Kelty (med) Dana Designs (Large) 2 Cat's Meow's (not down - sorry) Moutain Light jacket and pants Lots o gloves Lots of fleece and down
  4. ---- I own a ton of Gore Windstopper stuff. The problem is that it's all too thick to go under a jumpsuit. The cold gear from Under Armor seems popular. The Wild Things EP windshirt kicks ass and works well with a light poly-P layer underneath. http://www.promountainsports.com/clothing.shtml Just my thoughts
  5. I agree to a point...I ride a Ducati and give all bikers a wave, however, very few of those with the "really load pipes" wave back. Of course I am wearing a full face helmet and more often than not, leathers. I like to think they missed seeing my wave but think it may be something "deeper"...oh well...I'm still riding a Duc, and they aren't...
  6. I thought it might have been...the gin and tonic's gave it away...he's a great guy that (unfortunately) many will not know how much he has given to the sport that we love so much... Hope you're having fun... TT sends
  7. I know Chuck is getting pretty old but I didn't think he needed a wheelchair already. Probably Bill Ottley
  8. This afaik, is not the case. The advanced packer and rigger at my DZ would be happy to seal it, but they dont do it unless asked. MY rigger said she doesnt see the point in sealing, because in the event of getting your reserve out, and theres a problem, its most likely you'll lose the seal and then be unable to prove it was sealed in the first place. I haven't been to the UK in a couple of years but remember that (by law/direction) the seal is NOT connected to the ripcord (to add additional pull force) therefore, the seal would not be lost during the cutaway. As I recall, this was a rule made after a rig was improperly "sealed" w/E thread rather than "Sealing Thread." Correct me if I am wrong.... Tim T.
  9. Did she move you up to first class?
  10. Ok, but I don't think your DPRE will let that slide. Anyway good luck and count your tools....*** And use the instructions (and any service bulletins, MFR's recoommendations, etc.) page by page while you do a task.
  11. Thank you. Very clean. However the #3 flap gets a lot of tension put on it IMO due to "loading" the bottom of the free bag. I hope this is best and assume it is as Mirage is a good company with sound practices. Tim T.
  12. I'll read the SB tonight and look at the pics and determine if I need t do it now or not.
  13. It would be nice if there were drawings or pictures to go along with the SB Tim T.
  14. When I retire on 1 Apr 05 I will receive 50% of my base salary for life, minus health and life insurance. Additionally I have a Roth IRA and no CC debt. I use a CC but only with the money in the bank to back the purchase. I'm living very simply now so I save approx 50% of my salary.
  15. When I lived in England from 1995-1999, there was an advanced packer certificate. Advanced Packers were not riggers, and only riggers had seal presses. You might want to know if the person who packed your rig was an advanced packer or a rigger.
  16. I'm sending a package to a buddy in Iraq. Anyone know roughly how much it would cost or if there is any way I can get out of paying postage? Yeah, I'm trying to do something good but I'm a cheap little shit! Thanks. *edit: the package weighs about 10 pounds and I'm shipping it from Pennsylvania --- Assuming you are shippping it to an APO address, you will only pay postage to NY.
  17. Michael, I read the official report and understand what happened, however...the clamp that contributed to her death had no flag!!...my molar strap (not used on every pack job) is 6 FEET long and has a specific place in my tool box!. I cannot place my tools in order (or complete my check sheet) without it being where it belongs.... My point is this...I have, own, and use a molar strap with great results when I do use it. It's a tool....and a tool should be appied appropriately.... Tim T. Team Paraclete
  18. There is also an O yoke for the really small people.
  19. I also have a digital fisherman's scale (rated to 50 lbs) that I use to check every rig when it is temp pinned on the last flap. No, I don't check at the handle but it give me a "warm fuzzy" when I see a good looking rig come in at about 15 lbs at the pin. It's made by Rapala Tim T.
  20. Sorry for the thread drift. I do not use clamps. A Navy rigger died when she left one in. I really only use the molar strap on tandems (size) and pack jobs where I want a near "zero thickness) in the middle (racers and smetimes wings) if you use a ckeck sheet or pegboard with the tool outlined, you can avoid many pitfalls IMO. 21. If it wasn't true it might be construed as a personal attack! However, it is true...therefore it isn't a personal attack....lLet me know if you need some moleskin, I have lots of it
  22. I still use a molar strap however it's 2 inches wide and 60 inches long.....NO chace of being left inside a pack job. I made it in 1987 and seems to be working fine....
  23. Ifan, Yes, the letter relates to yoke width which corresponds with shoulder width. If you call or email you general size info, they will help you make a choice...assuming you're looking at a used rig and trying to determine if it will fit you. Tim T. Team Paraclete BPA AFF Inst.
  24. Dave, Sign up, attend seminars, log them, submit the paperwork, certificate is sent to you. Tim T. Team Paraclete
  25. Send a PM to John Hawke (slotpefect). He has a rather large head as well and SkySystems made him a great Oxygn.
