Quote On my oldest CYPRES, it took 6 weeks total. My device had failed one of the tests and had to be sent back to Germany for further testing. It was worked out. I appreciate the attention to detail that was shown... Tim T. Team Paraclete

Richard, How much was your Bernina 217? Is it straight and zig-zag? My 20U was $800.00 brand new! I find that hard to beat. Tim T.

difficulty in finding military replacement equipment
usskydiver replied to bigfall's topic in Gear and Rigging
QuoteYes, the reserve uses 2 vertical pins. The MC-4 main used 1 pin but the MC-5 uses 2 horizontal pins which was also the configuation for the USAF's MT1X/S which used the 375 (Goliath) main and 275 (DC-5) reserve. -
difficulty in finding military replacement equipment
usskydiver replied to bigfall's topic in Gear and Rigging
If the rig he has is a MC5 it is fairly new and can easily be converted to BOC if a ripcord is not wanted. The MC5 can be re configured so that it is basically a MC4 by removing the static line deployment system. If you go to PIA this year you will see some of the new(er) systems that are being built for military sales. *** Absolutely true! I jumped the MS-300 at a 1:1 wingload (wearing an 80 lb. rucksack, I'm not that big or fat) in Aug 01 as part of a test and knew in my heart that I had just jumped the future of Military Freefall. At 300' and on final I put the toggles on my hips, my feet and knees together, and thought "let's see how much lift she has now?" The answer was "all of it!" I did a precautionary PLF (not needed) and KNEW this was a great MFF wing! So, all of that aside...what are you really looking for? -
I'm not an engineer or anything but I will state that I have gotten wrecked on everything from under 100 sq ft up to 500 sq ft.

You may have a rigging problem. Is the reserve the right size for the container? If so, there is probably too much canopy packed in the top of the reserve freebag. This can put outward pressure on the riser covers. I have had good success "loading" the bottom of the freebag. Tim T.

7/9 was the 191st day of the yr. add 120 to that and you get 311 which is 6 Nov. In my opinion I would let you jump on Sat but not on Sun. Depends on the DZO, S&TA, etc. Tim T.

Visiting the UK - reserve repack cycle question
usskydiver replied to rob_v's topic in Gear and Rigging
US rigging, US rules. however (not good news) UK rigger...when you come to the US), you get host country (US) rules...if you remain in the UK, UK rules apply. If you return to the US at 121 days, you are out of date....Sorry. Tim T. Team Paraclete FAA Master Rigger (who lived in the UK for 4 yrs. and had time to figure it our, kind of -
should i remove/replace my Cypres batteries myself?
usskydiver replied to Newbie's topic in Gear and Rigging
IMO you should only do it under the supervision of a rigger. One of the 2 screws can be a bit tricky and you rigger will most like know the trick so you don't break the top cover or strip it out. Tim T. Teaam Paraclete -

"Take one for the team" raffle

Yes, I believe a manfestor at Elsinore won it. -
Ron Reagan Jr. You stand corrected

You may have a problem at the base life support shop as there is not a single piece of military parachuting equipment that relates to your Mirage and the complexities of military vs. sport gear (unless you get really lucky). Additionally, You only pay postage from NYC to wherever in the US it goes. I'm in NC and I would only pay postage back to NYC where the APO system takes over. I'll do it for $35.00 plus postage and insurance back to you. If you have questions look me up on the "global" at Pope AFB NC. There are enough people around here who will vouch for my work (all of Team Paraclete, Ron, SkymonketONE, etc.) More references upon request. Tim Tennant Team Paraclete

And if they work at 40/45 mph, they reinflate at those same speeds therefore affecting the flight characteristics of a high performance canopy. I tell someone a couple of times a year that they need to adjust their know because their PC is reinflating. As a side note, I used one on my Raider would would not even think of using one on any of my Velocity 103's. Tim T.

Sadness. One fond memory is when Dan painted a compass rose on the concrete by the manifest building. It is still very helpful in teaching young students and others about run-in headings, wind drift, etc. Tim T. Team Paraclete

Burr on main closing pin cuts through bridle.
usskydiver replied to Deuce's topic in Gear and Rigging
Tim, I think you are wrong. When the rigger tightened the loop by tacking it, he/she increased the contact on the burr and aggrivated the condition. IMHO Tim T. Team Paraclete
