The Wings website seems to be having problems (or it could be my computer here at work). Will someone who has already downloaded the manual (.pdf) please e-mail it to me. Chris, The hyperlink above is an outstanding reference / guide. I weigh 180 and here's what I did. Nimbus 225 for 50 jumps Bogy 200 for 50 jumps - broke femur Raider 220 for 150 jumps Excalibur 170 for 200 jumps Sabre 135 for 400 jumps Stiletto 120 for 1200 jumps Velocity 103 for the last 200 jumps The numbers are approx and don't count my military jumps

nose rolling on a tandem reserve? (sigma's)

J.J. It has been in the manual since I bought my first tandem rig back in 94 and is still in there and applicable to the Sigma. However, rolling the nose make it kind of difficult to get the proper taper on the container while closing. You really need to fill the bottom corners. In my conversations w/ Niklas who used to work there, he said to just pro-pack it. I plan on contacting RWS and trying to get that in writing because it's obviously a huge variation on their manual. Is this a new thing? It's been a little over two years since I packed a Dual Hawk, but as I recall the manual simply mandated a flat pack. -Blind Nope, not new, it's still a side/flop/roll but due to the fact that the loops are on the side flaps and it's an F-111 freebag, it's still pretty simple. Keith, I have to weigh in with LouDiamond on this one. Rucks are nothing to tioy with. I have 2,500 jumps (600 MFF, 200 + w/ Mr. Rucksack) and have had my ass handed to me by Mr. Rucksack. I urge you not to turn fun into work. During work ups, ruck sacks are planned into wind tunnel sessions to get re-familiar with them. As a side note. Is your rig legal? If it's a military rig it was manufactured under a drawing number and not a TSO? A debatable subject I agree, but I'm happy to debate it. Tim Tennant Sky Swoop Team

More of Sabre opening problems. It's no secret

I wish I knew how to address you all but I don't so here are my thought(s). I have about 500 jumps on a Sabre (after my Excalibur). The Sabre came out in 90/91 or so. It was the first successful (and long lived) ZP canopy (Nova, Monarch, etc). Yes, the Blue Track was earlier but if you really want an opening experience, jump one. The paradigm shift (IMO) is the attention that needed to be made to packing a higher wing loaded ZP canopy than the attention needed to pack a larger (often 200 sq. ft. or so) F-111 canopy. We learned alot about line stows, snatch force, pilot chute size/construction, and slider rebound with early ZP canopies than we had learned since squares were invented. Give the Sabre a break they were (and are) given the right application a great canopy! Don't compare a P-51 to an F-16! Perspective people, Perspective! I'll shut up now. Tim FAA Master Rigger and a couple of ratings (in 2 countries) -

USAF MSgt Combat Controller 24 yrs next month (someone please shoot me) 1. Learning to jump at Raeford and doing 4 way with the Falling Maggots (SkymonkeyONE) in 89 and doing 8 way with my last team "Raeford Dragons" and current team "Team Paraclete" 2. My butthole slamming shut as I jumped into Operation Just Cause at 500' 3. My butthole slamming shut at the US Embassy in Monrovia, Liberia when some MoFo was using an RPG like a mortar (pretty damn good at it too) while I had an MH-53 1/2 mile out 4. Marrying my wife on the beach in the Turks and Caicos in my Mess Dress at sunset and barefoot on the beach (no one there had UCMJ authority over me)

IMHO Airborne school does not really qualify for "getting paid to skydive" but I hope to meet you at Raeford. SkymonkeyONE feel free to weigh in on this one Tim

I also found it helpful to have my logbook, and USPA card with me to show number of jumps, membership etc. That got me past some rather surly fellows in Chicago one time. Of course the military ID and passport didn't hurt either. Tim
