I am glad that full stop (US=period) was not a comma............. still confused at the typo 1) did you mean to put in the full stop 2) did you mean "some people are children" 3) OR did you actually mean what the comma would have achieved?

I would be interested in this analysis, what % of people jumping at BD are first timers, what % are just BD jumpers, what % are regular BASErs Does anyone keep and use this sort of data from the registration criteria of BD?

once bitten, forever smitten..............

not so much regrets, but I would never encourage someone else to get involved with this sport..... it really is hard and nasty at times............ I was once told by someone when I was about to do my FJC - "prepare for your world to be turned upside down" - never a truer word spoken..........

Nice one mate............. Glad you had fun with it.......... looking at coming to nearish your area soon for a bit of a 370fter power tower in that dirty horrible funny speaking provincial you have to pay to get into..... (those local pubs there are a high risk in itself!) Will let you know............

We were jumping a 240ft B a couple of years ago and TC decided to go for the shallow break setting on his unvented canopy. On opening he had a 120ish off heading (not great as we were jumping in the middle of the face) and the canopy just dove then rocked back and continued to rock back and forward and just dumped him in hard at the base of the B onto concrete, there was hardly any forward movement at all. He did not release his toggles during this. This is only from my view on top. With the 42 v 46, like Sean and Tom, I agree that a 42 will give more consistant inflation. I have taken a 42 from 225, 220 and 210 with a 266 and found no problem. I witnessed a PC tow on a go n throw with a 46, but luckily he was jumping from about 340ft. We all regularly jump 42's below 300ft (or at least I used to before I returned back from injury) and even with my 280 (265 MDV) I see no problem, although lower than 250 I would now probably opt for a 46 now I jump a bigger canopy just to keep my mind happy, but ensure I fold it in a way to start inflating the PC whilst in my hand.......

I would be interested in any facts and figures on the height lost through forward surge from popping toggles and letting up......... (and obviously any range in between) any of you low SL / freefallers like to add to when and what height you are comfortable in "popping toggles" or not and what height you loose in that forward surge? - Im only asking as I was comfortable in low freefall until I fucked myself up a little............

the thing that makes me laugh is that when even some BASE jumpers (and also ALOT of skydivers) question that you should have a Dual when testing your BASE equipment out of a plane............. (not from laws but a thought that Plane = dual) In my eyes, a dual system is more complex than a single system, and if I am willing to take a single system down low on a BASE jump then why should I be anymore bothered about taking that same system down low from a plane? If I had a dual system on my back - of course I would open higher and allow time for a reserve, as I think that the dual skydiving system adds so many more problems more to your "life saver" that I dont want to be going below 2000 with it! In the end, skydivers and BASE jumpers have only one chance......... with skydivers they jump a main then a reserve, and with BASE jumpers we miss the main option and only have a reserve.......... We all trust our lives with one canopy in the end............

I drive a newer version 3 series (1.8 TI, 52 plate), and I have to say that servicing costs have reduced greatly over past years. It actually costs more for my mothers Peugeot and my GF's mothers fiesta to get serviced than the BMW they also serve you espressos and buscuits and read the daily papers whilst you wait! Not sure about the older versions but find the fuel consumption reasonable, about 400 miles on £45 (and I do drive fast) Insurance for me (with a DR10 10 years ago and 6 points) is also not bad at all.............. I like BMW and even the 3 series is comfortable and reasonably quick.

and you think that is the reason why i said google is powerful????
-
some other more (simple) effective ways to search google: Google images (or main): inurl:BaseJump intitle:BASEjump intext:BASEjump intext:"BASE jump" intitle:"BASE jump" Google Main: you can mix up detailed searches and come up with things like: .wmv OR .mpg OR .avi intext:BASEJump or make it even more specific and use things like: filetype:xls BASEjump Google is VERY powerful........................
