  1. apart from what the A is producing (which is certainly another issue -----> http://www.basejumper.org/forums/album_cat.php?cat_id=6 if you were initially worried about jumping such an object due to its shape, then maybe this post will help you: http://www.blincmagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18156
  2. Reduce it to a whuffo discussion? Surely you cant reduce a whuffo question anymore than it is? If loads of non-skydivers started posting to your forum questions of why? why? why? why? why? how many sensible responses do you think you will get? I think its one of the big reasons BASE jumpers do not want to be known they BASE at DZ's, they are sick of the: tell me, why, teach me, what is, I have always wanted to, I will do, blah blah fucking blah that goes on.. oh, I forgot to mention rl.... bugger I cant see another way to mention you!
  3. a 20.59% object to jump coversion with those statisics proves that the 1 in 3 I stated as experienced really does prove that "iam a cunt" I always think a 1 in 3 is a good ratio "generally", but obviously results are skewed with greater jump numbers and differing reasons for jumping... and some of you seem to misinterperate the way I post.... (even rl understood my wierd ways and obtuse posting methods! - thats not you Ray) sorry to rub some of you up the wrong way... seems more of you got more offended by my post about jump v objects then the killing a kitten...
  4. fucking cool mate......... love ya work....... wish i read this before i posted in the 100 object thread.............
  5. My idea is that a 1 in 3 object to jump ratio is good. With the access in the USA of a legal span more and more people are getting high jump numbers without a decent jump to object ratio, but feel that jump numbers are a guage of experience. In other places in the world where a legal object is not accessable, there are many people with low jump numbers who are much more experienced that alot of people who click up numbers through a "legal bridge jump". Note: Yes RL, I am knocking them! Places where there is fuck all really to jump that is easy, people are still knocking up decent object to jump number ratios (much respest to the London boys on this one), and although they could be deemed "lucky" in some aspects, the experience they gain is much more than just decent "currency". Call me a cunt, but this is what i believe.... .
  6. Do one thing each day that scares you
  7. [sad joke] An American dude is walking through London and approaches an English gent: seppo: "Hey man, where is Buck Palace at?" UK Gent: "excuse me? where is Buck Palace at?" seppo: "yeah dude, where the hell is Buck Palace at?" UK Gent: "Young man, dont you realise you should not end a sentence with a preposition?" seppo:"Ah ok! hey man, where is Buck Palace at wanker?" [/sad joke]
  8. this is a link to someone trying to make money out of BASE jumpers
  9. Now that is the funniest thing I have heard in a long time...
  10. Both are ugly. "He's become much better at swooping." "His swooping's improved" agreed, was just proving the point that the US mess of the the English language was worse than our own mess of our own language........
  11. Andrea, do you have further calcs taking into account suits? PS: love the work you do with your maths!
  12. most accurate for altitude is the silva alti (+/- 3ft) so i beleive) - i bought one for the accuracy as did several other BASE friends and recently some swoopers who are now using them (not sure if thats a good thing or not) if you want more bells and whistles with still good accuracy (+/- 10ft) then the suunto range seems to be a favorite (as I have lots of friends that prefer these watches)..... I guess its like a canopy, some love it, some need it, some have a different reason for using it..... HTH
  13. haha shieeet, the USer is correct....
  14. LOL edit: oh by the way, when I sleep with someone with suspenders its not a man trying to keep his "pants" up....
  15. haha a post from Americans about the correct use of English... (yep RL that is a slight US bash!! ) How about (UK v US use): I've just had a cigar NOT I just had a cigar I've already seen him NOT I already saw him He's got much better at swooping NOT He's gotten much better at swooping at the weekend NOT on the weekend learnt NOT learned maths NOT math Im off to run away from the flames now......

  21. Note to Rhonda: I am not US Bashing In the US you have a magnificent and beautiful object, which is legal and allows anyone to learn and progress in BASE in a perfect environment. Although in your country this maybe deemed as a perfect situation to introduce BASE to people that want to enter this sport, my opinion (and I am sure others) is that this can be and is detrimental to the sport. My first introduction to BASE was from the TF bridge, after my one jump on my FJC I went ahead and did another 6 jumps alone, and during this time met Jeb, Douggs, and 1 group of people from a DZ turn up with “these 2 BASE rigs from a friend” and huck themselves off with the training of : One group member: “the guy who gave me the rigs taught me what I need to do” I had a mixed feeling about what I saw at the bridge during my time there, but I was inexperienced and who was I to judge what happens at this “legal span”. I am now more experienced (although I don’t see myself as experienced – experienced to me is a 1 in 3 object to jump ratio with over 100 jumps ( for your information I have 22 objects with around 90 jumps (and 12 months injury time)), and I review what I saw at the bridge almost 4 years ago and see that this maybe something that is becoming more and more normal. Do you feel that having this span available to all and sundry, although is very beneficial to people who want to BASE seriously, is also opening up a world to people who want to BASE because its BASE? At least in the countries (for example the UK) where objects are not exactly great, and if you want to BASE you really do have to run yourself through the mill, it sort of contains the people that are only in it for “I BASE”. It seems from these recent posts that the accessibility of BASE is a detriment to the sport. I found it so hard to enter the BASE world when I first said “I want to BASE jump”, I took onboard everything I was advised….. It took me 3 years to get into it…. 1 year skydiving and a FJC off a legal span seems to allow people to think they can jump anything….. When did people getting scared jumping off a cliff suddenly become obsolete?
