anyone else get one in their DZ email account? I dont use my DZ account to sign up to sites (I normally use mytrashmail.com) or post on websites, so just curious
-
I meant it had the loops to be able to take the seperable D-Rings
-
Did you have to special order that? How much did they cost? My Gargoyle doesn't have them, and I don't see them on the options list on the Morpheus web site. They come as standard. They are not (at all) obvious, but they are there.
-
The Gargoyle also has loops built for a seperable D-Ring chest mount reserve.

you actually sound like a newbie skydiver saying stuff like that.......... what an arrogant thread title...

Just something I found........... Who came up with this method.... why so complex?! edit to add: In fact, it seems the USA also changed the imperial system for themselves, so you are not even using the British Version! hahahaha - just like our language I guess! example: 1 U.S. gallon (basic unit of liquid capacity in the United States)=231 cubic inches 1 imperial gallon (basic unit of liquid capacity in some Commonwealth nations)=277.4 cubic inches 1 U.S. bushel (basic unit of dry capacity in the United States)=2,150.4 cubic inches 1 imperial bushel (basic unit of dry capacity in some Commonwealth nations)=2,219.4 cubic inches

WHOA! You know, today I was sorting out my "mess draw" trying to find my tax return, and came across the card given out at his funeral that quoted that statement, It was weird when one moment rushing to find my tax return to send off to my accountant, and then suddenly coming across that - I took a step back when I found it........but then I also remembered the quote about death and taxes..... surreal

inspirational stuff..........Respect ALOT of respect
-
So I did. Once they realised what I was doing, they didn't think it was very funny. In hindsight, neither do I.

strange thing is, I find it easier to control my fear when I am solo. Is that strange?

I would stay away from these people. I certainly would never advise anyone to get into BASE, let alone pressure someone to get into it. I dont understand people that encourage people to BASE jump. Most of the time the people encouraging people to do the sport are not respected jumpers. The best BASErs to know are the ones that dont really want to talk about it at the DZ, not the ones that make the most noise...... BASE is not cool, its hard work and can effect your life in BIG ways (ask anyone that has had a serious injury or lost friends - limping at my age is not very cool) that are very negative to the outsider. Its a big payoff, and you have to decide if the negatives are out weighed by your "personal" positives. Fuck peer pressure - BASE is a pure personal adventure. The funniest thing I have seen, is that I would say in 7 years of skydiving and 3.25 years in BASE, all the "I wanna BASE / I am going to BASE" I would say that 99% never make any effort to actually make this happen. They still years and years later say "I wanna / I will" to all the new skydivers coming up whilst cracking a beer open after hours whilst the ones that have taken the effort are stood alone & scared in a dark unfriendly place................. but then we flick and watch the object rush by....and then world then does not seem so unfriendly.......

When I was in Twin on my FJC Jeb was there. I was being taken around the landing area and then stood below and witnessed the first 2 ever BASE jumps in my life. One was a guy who took a healthy delay and the other was Jeb doing his flippy doo shit on a round - not a long canopy ride at all. I stood there open mouthed wondering what the fuck I had just got myself into......... and you know what, 3.25 years later I still watch people go off from the top or bottom (before / after I jump) I still get the "wow" factor. BASE would cost a shit load if it were sold by the gram....
-
The UK board is down as its been hacked.
-
from what I saw (a friend of mine did the course whilst we were there) - its not as complete as other FJC courses which are geared toward the objects you will normally jump. Or has this changed in the past few years? Is the Norway FJC more complete nowadays?
-
I am actually going through a similar period. I got back from a year off from injury in May, I was keeping an average of 1 per week(I limp worse than normal the day after jumping) but recently with work and with some other projects I am getting started (and as my jumping friends will say a bit of "being just gay and lazy") I found that unless I am really ready for it, I am breezing through without making a jump even when the weather is fine and good. I started questioning myself over this alot!, so I decided to go and make a solo one early sunrise morning, and it reiterated to me that all was good and fuck me I do still need this and love this. - I just needed time alone to sort out the questions in my own head. What this has taught me is that everyone takes BASE at their own pace. If you do multiple jumps every night, or multiple jumps every week, or 1 jump a night or 1 jump a week, or even 1 per month or 1 per year - its your own time and your own way. BASE jump when you feel like it, not when you feel you should......... Its all personal and theres not a right or wrong amount to jump.

excellent choice of footware. I hope you get into the habit of always wearing that sort of shoe At least your knees wont get hurt. I am glad your teacher advised you to make sure your knees where ok and your ankles had plenty of support just in case.....
-
what I find is that most people advise the course they took as they dont have a frame of reference. Think about it this way, a guy does his AFF and gets it done in a week, he says its the best course ever, but what does he know about the other courses available, the way they are run, and the knowledge he may or may not have. Question the "this course rocks" as most of the time its from someone who has only done this FJC and has not researched the others. Hey my BASE course rocked at the time! - but with hindsight would have chosen another one.........
-
wtf has this forum become?
-
Does anyone know the story behind this footage? Was the PG pilot ok? I am not sure if I am seeing this correctly, but it looks like the canopy is flying at the end.......... I hope he was ok..... http://rapidshare.de/files/1911842/blard11.wmv.html
