Thou shall expect to get thou's body busted up at some time.

althought both the rock climbers BASE, I heard that the jump was actually done by someone with a little more experience. Nice one SE!

that is kinda worrying dont you think? I thought it was just .edu that was wildly insecure... but .mil and .gov? makes this specific googling even more worrying then really.... a few inurl: intitle: with generic terms does find some areas that should not be accessable - hell a monkey can do that!

http://www.google.com/unclesam This searches only .mil and .gov sites, I have tried a few advanced search terms and found some areas within these sites that perhaps should not be that easily found. I know that these can be found using google anyway, but not this easy. What do you USers think?

am I the only one that thinks this statement is somewhat wrong?

If you are not happy with the winds, its simple you dont jump. If I am on top and not happy but the "BASE tool" tells me its only 2mph, then I aint going to jump anyway - I am not happy and that is all that I need to be told. I think this is a wrong approach on "to jump / not to jump" If you were on top and were not happy but someone else was and he jumps - would this mean you would then jump? Dont trust anything / anyone to help make your own decision, your on your own when you step off...

Congrats on your first jump... Not trying to be a killjoy, but thinking that is a bad habit to get into... Who was it that said "...expect a 180 with twists..." ? I read that before my first jump, and to this day I still go off on each jump expecting that is about to happen...

I really don’t give a toss about the media - but the hypcrocity is laughable. If you are really worried that the media read this site about certain incidents then don’t fucking allow posts like this. You can’t have it both ways. I agree, fuck the media, but don’t on one hand act in one way to not to give them ammunition then allow a really twatish post that will give them ammunition in the long term…

they way I see it, If I wear womens clothing, womens underware, or I am naked, or I am wearing a golf ball in my mouth, gimp mask, leather sheep or cow outfit, or a little britain "bubbles" suit - I dont want to be doing something I may end up going in on.... "hello Mother of Mac, I am sorry to say we found your son dead under an antenna... naked - with a parachute clothed in a womans outfit - with a parachute gimped up with a golf ball in his mouth - with a parachute wearing a leather bovine outfit with an extra big udder - with a parachute looking like "bubbles" from little Britain with a parachute " at least with skydiving, there are witnesses to why you have done any of the above should you go in!

BASE will be the best thing you have done, and it will also be the worst thing that you have done... All motivation is truely personal. Only you will be able to truely say "I do it for the right reasons" If getting busted up, loosing friends, limping and suffering each morning for the rest of your days is something you want to actually deal with for a little bit of fun then you maybe willing to accept BASE. Going back to the original question "what is my motivation?" my motivation is to feel happy, and limping every day is a price I pay to feel happy....

one statistic I would like to know is how many people who do their First Jumps at BD actually continue?

I am with RhondaLea on this one, I would never encourage or advise anyone to "try" or get into the sport.... its not as nice as you may think from doing what you have just done... its the best thing I have done, but its also the worse thing I have done, how can anyone want to get into this sport? BTW: Congrats on your first jumps

my gargoyle has a small pocket on the inside of the harness behind the 3 rings.... I keep a pull up in one side there at all times and never use it to pack (unless I am at home alone), so I always have a pull up on my rig at all times. Also on the otherside I have a small red LED so if caught in pitch black I have a small red light that I can turn on in my mouth as I close my container with my "always there handy pullup"...
