Congrats ! But you know, California rules and all : If there's no video - it didn't happen. Care to show some proof ?

oh the narrow-mindedness.. be smart paypal + confirmed address=good asking to get paid by paypal and ship to a address other than what's in there = not good asking to ship to a different country other than whats listed in paypal=VERY BAD, borderline careless take wiretransfers outside of the standard coutnries. If they cannot wire, then perhaps there's a reason for that. But to say that eBay is not to be done business on - that's plain STUPID. I have bought over 10K of gear on eBay - and used both paypal and money orders. Of course, I have had my share of people selling what they didn't have - but that was pretty easy to tell when they couldn't produce extra pictures I asked them for. Going back- since the person is going to skydive (supposedly) - insist on shipping to their DZO, who you can spend a few $$$ to talk on the phone and verify the DZ is in fact the operation. stay safe and open minded ...

because that's not the easiest knot to tie when it's dark ? Because what most people already do, works well, and complicating the system = asking for trouble. Keep It Simple Stupid

no offheadings. the PC is SLed to a LONG sling (using biners and parachute cord) Thus once the bridle goes to stretch (ot was rubberbanded for minimal snag factor, so the PC stays right on the edge) the anchor point+whatever the PC is attached to is inline with the jumper no PCA since the ground on exit point is very soft, and If I was PCAing him, and lost my balance first thing I would let go would be his PC. Also, WHO THE HELL WOULD BE TAKING PICTURES ??? see attachments Oh, and I suppose I shouldn't of done a McConkey off that cliff either ? Cuz that's what I did 3 mins after this....
-
what if that PC was SL'ed to a sling that was attachd to a solid point in the ground ? pic1 - see the SLING on the ground.... but thanks for healthy criticism. That's why we all love DZ.COM - criticize first, look/ask questions later...

Aaron (despinato) aka AAA has completed his BASE on Sunday morning by finally jumping an E. He even managed to NOT BIFF the landing. Congrats ! Also, an even bigger milestone has been achieved : He completed his RUSSIAN BASE ( jumped all 4 objects with nobody but a Russian or Russians on the load). (taking applications now :) CONGRATS !
-
I asked him : how many jumps ya got ? his reply : base 461 skydives 6700 and change 11 yrs of skydiving and 9 yrs of base g with that many jumps I am sure either the WA locals or the MA locals should know him. At least from around the dropzone. He is only 29 - that would be ALOT of jumping.
-
that's probably the best idea... while at it, may I suggest BIG GRAB style toggles ? In my opinion they are pretty much a must any low jump.
-
can you post more details ( brand - mods made ) and some more pics ? tnx

While packing the rig yesterday, and subsequently stowing the PC - I am still amazed at WHY would anybody feel a restrictive aid is a necessity. I don't have that many jumps, but most of them have been with a 46 or 42 stowed (at least till exit point), a few with a 38 - and I have never felt the need to restrict the PC prior to putting it in the BOC - in fact, seeing a few people do it (clamps only) - it felt like an unnecessary overkill. Though using large clamps while stuffing the PC in would make it absolutely Darwinian fate if one goes in with it. ( in other words forgetting a LARGE clamp is not something anybody with an ounce of common sense should do) not judging, just venting, it's a shame to loose another person ...

how about a diffuser ? Sto-Fen comes to mind. I would imagine with abit of tinkering (like covering cetain part even more to prevent light going where you don't want it to) and using off-shoe cord ( like you say you already are) you can get it to give much softer light - thus no reflections. And yeah - shadows are artistic :)

for what its worth, i have done a few without hands on the risers - and openings were on heading. I suppose you can correct heading faster, plus less possibility of assymetrical exit which can lead to off heading.

am I correct assuming that there are a few current BASE jumpers who are younger than that video ?

I have a few where the winds up top were way over 20 - and honestly I felt much safer than jumping in nil or near nil winds- as long as you have time to turn 180 for landing - should be a piece of cake. On a guy wire antenna I really see no reason to jump in no wind conditions, as with the winds you are much safer... not much experience here though - but that's what works for me. P.S. If it's a tall tower - and you are taking a healthy delay - it's equally important to see what the winds UP TOP are doing as well as ON THE BOTTOM. Cuz if at the exit a 40mph is bisecting your exit, and at opening alti you got 15mph from the same direction, and landing into 5mph - I would consider that a safe jump :)

Didn't see anything positive about the portrayal, nor do I see anything positive about bringing so much heat VOLUNTEERLY to your local objects. And aside from showing the already highly pillaged spans, they show at least 2 of the the easily identifialbe objects local to them, and name the counties - WHY ???? Sound like Ben and Jimmy plan to be moving (along with ALL THE OTHER Cinci BASE crew ) out of the area - otherwise I see no reasoning for the clip to be made ...

same thing as all the other low-profile non-zoom through lenses - i had one, it worked just like royal. Except these guys are cheaper.

A picture is worth a thousand words. I am sure that phrase was coined for a reason.

I am wholeheartedly for it. In the last few months there has been mostly bickering and BS with very little actual BASE discussion here. And a few no jump wonders giving advice... Like others have said, reading about some drama is nice, but that's what Bonfire is for. Technical forum would really keep all the BS away from good discussion. Besides, it would be nice to know the experience level of some of the posters who give answers/suggestions - a gut feeling tells me that physics works, but when the advice given is based purely on that, I would still prefer a solid hands-on - "I did it, and it works, but it scared the beejezuz out of me". for what it's worth ....

70-200 f/2.8 IS is a great lens. It's not only about resolution, but the color and clarity of the image. You get the images that are distinctly clear, colorful, defined. Shooting at f/2.8 or f/4 allows you to blur background nicely. No IS is a no-go for long focal lengths, when you shoot handheld and in low light. IS allows to use shutter speeds 4-8 times slower than without it. Besides, girls DIG big white lenses. Yuri Yo, Hate to do this - I am quite aware of what the tecnical differences are. I am more interested in the actual in-the-field/hands-on critique of the abovementioned and similar lenses. Obvously if money was not a problem a 2.8 IS would be a no-brainer. and just for shits and gigles - what about the 28-300 IS - I bet everybody is intimidated by the pricetag and weight... I know I am Lonnie, you know my email address, foo !

sorry to stirr up an older post - but having recently given myself a 20D for new years, I have narrowed my search down to : 70-200mm L lens. Now there are 3 choices - the f4, f2.8 and the f2.8 with IS. I have a 17-85IS lens and I do see the difference in having the IS turned on. But looking at the L glass- the price difference is quite high . So what do people think - I mean a f4 is ~~ 500 vs the 2.8 IS is ~~ 1400 where am I going to see advantages ? ( fairly similar situation, not much skydivng shots, but other sports, mostly football and BASE ) tnx ! P.S. I have considered the newer 75-300 IS, but it just felt a bit cheap (played with my friends for a few hours), and the f value was 5.6 on the high end - I thought that I wanted a little shorter DOF on the shots I plan to take. tnx.

If you track while on Viagra, wouldn't that inhibit your aerodynamics ? Everybody says that bellycams hurt your glideratio. How would tracking on Viagra be any different ?
