Quote : "it has been necessary to detail more than 2 park rangers at Fayette Station to monitor activities during Bridge Day, as direct result of BASE jumping acitivities" Can somebody translate that ? If they want to see all the landings during BD, I am sure a videotape can be made available to them. Otherwise it seems they are just being what they are - BUREAUCRATS ( you thought I was gonna put A$$H*LES, didn't ya ? )

while you can jump a bruiselite, your profile suggests 234 lbs exit weight - I bet your ankles will only hurt IF YOU GET LUCKY, and an alternative can be even nastier... Of course you can commit to taking it in the water and having 1-2 jumps max - but drying alot faster than you are healing ... just a drunken opinion of a fellow Ohion, who rented BASE specific gear for his first BD cuz he didn't want to be a shmuck :)

yo, gonna be in London Aug 24th-Aug 29th. staying in Westminster: 1) if anybody needs something brought from US, I would be more than happy to help (customs are a bitch, I know ). I will not transport your drugs though, please don't ask. 2) if anybody wants to drink some intoxicating spirits one of the days, I am sure I can arrange something, especially if my wife likes the place and/or you :) 3) and lastly, it's a slim possibility, but a jump would be nice too

i know you wanted to split FIREWIRE, but if it's for judging - perhaps splitting analog signal would be a less pain in the ass solution ? - that would difinately work. udachi !

www.priceline.com www.hotwire.com also, when I was under 25 ( a whole wooping 9 months ago), I found it alot cheaper to rent from the local, off-airport locations. Just figure out which airport you are flying in, search for off-airport car rental - the shittier the place sounds, the cheaper it will be. then just call 'em and reserve. Some of those places only surcharge for under 21, not under 25 www.rentalcars.com is a good site too... good luck

There was a video of what I think is the building you are referring to a little while ago. Don't forget which country it's in - read older posts - it's a bit military there from what has been said.

Hi. I'm an idiot. That'll teach me to be happy.

Are you sure you mean Protrack and not Cypres ??? -
you must of done 'em all .. here's a joke I heard from 2 of my friends who are both instructors - guess with who ? A diveboat has a few different groups of students/instructors on it. All of a sudden it starts to sink : NAUI instructor says - "put on your gear, inflate your BC, stay above water and just wait for my instructions" YMCA insturctor says - "put on your gear, inflate your BC, stay above water and slowly start swimming towards the shore" PADI instructors says - "20 more dollars ladies and gents - now's it's a WRECK DIVE" I thought that was funny... I got YMCA cert a in 2000. Didn't dive as much as I wanted to, the OH quarries are just small and far from me.. Did Myrtle Beach Turtle Valley ( Hawaii ) Key West ( regular and wrech dives ) Mexico ( Playa del Carmen ) Red sea ( Eilat, Israel ) bunch of COLD Ohio quarries Lake Erie ( back home )

since you all showes me (us) your pussy here's mine. she liked to walk all over the lines when I pack in the living room. She also LOVES to play with the bridle. Could never get her to be a packing weight though - she is only 7lbs :)

you do realize that the skills required for skydiving (precision, control, awareness, mental strength, general fitness rather than targetted building) are more akin to golf than they are to cycling. In that case, is your analogy stating the you think cycling is equivalent to Chess? Hypothetically speaking, IN MY OPINION : It's alot more likely for an active cyclist to become a skydiver than for an active golfer to become a skydiver. OTHER WAY AROUND : It's alot more likely for an active chess player to try golf, rather than skydiving. Now, please remember, opinions are not to be argued over ... Also, just to clarify : I do understand that golf is not just "hitting the ball around". I understand people are REALLY, REALLY stressed to get that little metal thing in a little hole far away. I also understand it takes a very trained and exercised individual to hit a long shot that is also on-heading. But I am convinced that though there are plenty of people who can do both, the best cyclist WILL NEVER BE the best golfer, and the other way around. Point being - I believe, and Oxford agrees, that for an ACTIVITY to be considered a SPORT - a certain amount of physical exertion needs to be had. Yes, mental too, though considering that body building is a sport, that could be questionable - but that would be leaning away from the conversation . Anyways, if you think that one spends the same amount of mental and physical strength as well as stamina to win Tour de France as one spends to win a golf tournament - well, I simply don't agree with that.

There are some people that say skydivers are not "athletes". Everyone has their own opinion. I do feel that golf is a sport and the professionals are athletes. I also feel that skydivers are athletes. I would say that both are competitors - only one is an athelete. like Tonto said - a physical exertion is needed to be an "athlete" - in such, I guess one can say that getting a plane ride to 13K and then fallin flat and stable, opening, landing and paying a packer is not necessarily athletic either ( just think of some tandem students ). .. Now turning x amount of points, coming down for a swoop and packing on your own - that's probably a bit more of an athleticism, eh ? hmm - pushing a ball around, dressed in khakis and a polo shirt, then driving your cart.. Not to mention having somebody else carry your bag - show me where is this guy supposed to break his sweat ? BTW, I am an arguing athlete - my wife forces me to practice quite often ....
-
Comparing Tour De France cyclicsts to Golf "Athletes" is the same as comparing the SPORTS of Chess and Skydiving.

with that said, and since a) Western NY is 2.5 hours drive for me b) I need an E to get my damn BASE number ( don't ask :( ) c) I can think of a certain rock that i believe is 5 hrs drive from us. can one PM me to educate how to get and who to contact in order to jump a few of these E's ??? this way i can fullfill the prophecy "jump more, bitch less" - or at least spend a day away from home so I dont have to hear my old lady bitching every time i mention BASE :) thank you.
-
Looks like i jumped from the same tower about 5 years ago :) it was a hoot, but i didn't have time to jump more. My wife freaked out when she was on top ...

Now that you mention it, I am vaguely remembering ... in downtown Chicago bikers were being LOUD ( you know, loud pipes save lives crowd ) - so the city stepped in and prohibited motorcycles on that street ( lakefront, perhaps Lake Shore DR ??? ). I believe a higher goverment body stepped in shortly after AMA ( motorcyclist equiv. of BASE's ABP ) contacted them and the vibe was "if you are using public funds you cannot prohibit ANY public transportation on this road" .... not sure if this helps our cause at all, but interesting ...

she keeps you on that tight of a leash, eh ?

in short I landed in the rocks and had a few small scratches on my right forearm. in long - right toggle hung up, so by the time i figured it out, i didn't have much altitude left ( turning the canopy with left toggle, while right one is in DBS ) - and once i released it, the canopy dove leaving me with even less options. - I really was ok, just hurt my ego...
