Warning to Customers of Guerilla Filmmakers
vid666 replied to base428's topic in Photography and Video
Have you tried eBays VeRO ? I know I had listings suspended that I wasn't even at fault. We worked it out at the end, but I do know for a fact that eBay takes it seriously. -
I got a K1200LTC, my buddy has the RS - awesome bikes. I have to say though, 2 up 500 mi - LT will kick the RS ass. On a windy road on a fun day - I woudl take the RS anytime. I am sure S is even ballsier and more fun..

dude, get a life and start accepting responsibility. One time when i tried to enter Canada with a radar, the border patrol told me they are illegal, and had me put it in the trunk. Plus, if I remember correctly the first few km by the US border has a lot of signs saying "radar detectors prohibited". Ignorance does not excuse you from responsibillity. Plus interaction with one cop, and one bad hotel clerk cannot possible make you hate the whole country unless you are close minded. cheers, 10 inches here , and more coming ...

you can also name it "possible wheelchair BASE" :) yes, give us more. (please)
-
I believe Boise is about as close. It's also 75mph all the way down - so ~~ 90 min for the 120 mile drive.
-
While it's nice to know about these things, I believe for the greater good knowledge is better kept hidden. Educating the "enemy" is not a necessary task. So yeah, i voted for deletion.

I'd say depending who i am travelling with and what am I dressed like. Never got screened with my wife. When I travelled with friends and had jeans with holes and old shirts on - got selected a few times. Last time I flew was 3 days before Christmas on a flight to NYC that I booked the night before ( ~~ 14 hrs in advance ) - both of us got screened. I think lack of any checked in or carry-on luggage was not to our benefit either :) ( we were picking up a car outside NYC and driving it back the same day)

view out of MY window right now... it's a bit different than yours

being a pretty big ebay seller, I get these daily. I just tell them to go ahead and send the money. After I get it ( usually takes about a month and happens in 50% of the cases) I call my local detective acquaintance at the local PD and hand all the comms and the check over to him. Yes, the scammer is overseas but alot of times their accomplice is in the US. Whether stealing from the bank or just forwarding a phony UPS letter.

not to give you another off-topic - but : if you watch your buddy go in from up top : do you dial 911, jump, stay ? do you jump, dial 911, stay ? dial 911, climb down, stay ? climb down, dial 911, stay ? in either case wouldn't stashing the gear while waiting for the 911 to come and claiming to be " just GC" be an advisable idea if you know that you might be taking it up the rear as it is ? tnx

Grrrr..... I'm going to ignore that, put on my ProTec, and go to work........ I have a nice one of you and TomA next to a tree. Want me to post it ?
-
I was going to write a flippant one-liner but then I realized how ignorant I would come across. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

that's exactly what I meant - with cameras being smaller, you can easily squeeze 2-3 in a fanny pack - I am sure we can use a higher amperage power supply to fuel all 3 bulletcams, and the wiring shouldn't be a big deal...
-
a kindof side question - for all the non-standard ( non-helmet) mount camera angles, why not go with a bulletcam ? I have been researching it, and it seems like the quality is up there, hiding the cables should be pretty simple. And best of yet, with all the new cams being smaller and smaller, you can easily fit 2-3 in a fanny pack so you can have instant 3 angles. let's hear it...
-
how about paintball and something a bit more exciting than bowling ?
-
just one question : was he wearing a rig ?
-
speaking of which, can you update us on what we can do to help the NRGB legalization that you talk about on the site ? I am sure quite a few people would be willing to donate or do some work in order to help. Please PM or post the details... - it's 5hrs drive to NR for me or a nice 2 layover flight to TF - guess which one I'd rather jump at :)
-
it's cuz we got lake effects.. it snows and rains unpredictibly - but I personally like it. ( been here 12 years ). The flats are cool if you want to party, otherwise I haven't found much other things that facinate me here - so had to take up skydiving :) Also if you like boating, then you might like the 3 months of the season here :)
-
Tom, so basically, bridle coming out of the middle (between pins), and the first pin from the attachemnt point going to the bottom of the container, second to top, and just close the flap. I assume still keep the flap closed, and act as if nothing different about the jump ? Anything that can be overlooked in that situation ?

if you search the threads it's .75 WL or your naked body +100 lbs. I am nobody to give advice, but personally I am 177 out of the shower, and a 245 unvented FOX 245 which I currently use is soon to be up for sale so I can get a "something" 285ish. Still deciding on a Flik 293 or Troll 265...

I don't know much but if I was even a little worried about my SL anchor breaking off I would find something else to use. I agree with Tom, tubular webbing at a climbing store is cheap. You can pick some up (here where I live) for $0.25/ft. You guys misunderstood me. I am not worried about the anchor point giving on this jump, I am worried about the fact that it can loosen up after a few jerks. I am 100% sure this one time it will hold with no visible damage or ill effects. The other point I was trying to get some help on was that the breakcord is 80lbs - i don't think it takes anywhere close to that force to get linestretch - so why not minimize the impact on the anchor if the anchor is the weakest link in this system ??? Again, these are my thoughts, and if they are wrong, I would like for somebody to point that out, and especially let me know WHY they think/determine so. tnx !

now that the whole NC story settles, perhaps we can go back to discussing BASE jumping .... a certain building. ~~ 252 ft to the landing area as you look at it, 186 feet to the bottom of the buildign - obviously we would like to open fast and fly long. an anchor point, about 2 feet from the edge. Seems solid, but feels a bit weary. Basically, it will definately hold throught getting a line stretch, but we have doubts it can hold on through too many 80lb pulls needed to break the cord. The cord is 7 strands - realistically we percieve if we cut a few ( to be determined ) strands, the breakforce needed is lowered, thus lessening the pull on the anchor point ( a 1 ft pole sticking out of the roof ). The question : is it advisible ? If so, how many strands can be cut to still ensure a safe linestretch ? ( i.e. - how much pull does it take to open a 2 pin rig and get the canopy to line stretch). Please post your thoughts/suggestions. Keep the flames in the other thread :) thank you. P.S. jumper1 Vented Flik 293/Vertex - going PCAd jumper2 Fox 245/Gargoyle - going SL

My ex-roommate used to own a late 90s ZX9R that was very dark purple. With the sun on it it looked purpulish, othertimes, just weird black... He then got a completely green ZX12R, that co-signed for and got screwed for... but that's another story.
