Space 170 - closed end cells and slider stuck halfway up. HC3 frame grab

Gonna be snowboarding in Squaw 24th-29th of Dec. Staying in Reno. Can anybody hook me up ? tnx

FWIW I usually just chop the bartacking with diagonal cutters or nail clippers (while pulling it away from the risers so I dont chance chopping them too). Otherwise, leaving the line groups in sets would be nice - if you for some reason dont have slinks/links you can always use something like fishing line or zipties. And create your own "ghetto rigging (tm)" cardboard card. Of course you can just send the canopy with lines all mangled up and see how pissed of the person on the other end will get :)

The canopy is a russian "Radar"

Perhaps the difference between lopo and F111 fabric can have effect here. Also one may have ZP top skin or foreskin which can weigh in as well. But wwarped said it best - nothing to debate here, if you are unsure - just repack. doesn't take long anyways.

Gonna be in Chciago Thursday Dec 7th night, then moving onto Detroit Fri 8th-10th. Anybody from the windy city care to hook up for a jump ? I heard there's a sweeeet crane downtown :) thank you !
-
I think some people are confusing foreskin (only 30% of topskin is ZP - from the nose up to B lines) that CR offeres with full ZP TOPSKIN that Apex/CR both offer ... I would GUESS (As I have no jumps on anything but full F111) that ZP foreskin is alot less prone to offheadings then full ZP topskin. anybody ?

all i can tell you is that HC3 has no mic input - you will have to use whatever works with its yet-again-redesigned proprietory hotshoe how ghetto...

a 13 minute teaser ? God damn.. Good stuff too. I even made the "girls are cool" section.... twice.... and I am not even a girl ....

A1 - Yes. used it on pin rigs. Put french links through the legstrap articulation, and hooked a bellywart with a round in it. A2 - I felt comfortable exiting flat and stableas long as I was very carefuly protecting the handle on the reserve. I also felt comfortable taking it to about 1000ft. The bellywart had the RPC removed, so it was "pull-punch-throw" that I have never executed live - so a little extra altitude was more comforting. A3 - no solid idea, but they pop up now and again. I have seen them in the classifieds for 50 bucks empty. and I have seend 24' rounds for 50 bucks as well... wearing that thing is very uncomfortable and in a small plane (which I imagine is what you want, due to lower stall speed) you really gotta watch it to make sure you dont snag the handle.

I dunno.... perhaps not a triplet. P.S. Purple colors rock Attachment removed by slotperfect. The picture of a pack data card contained social security numbers of three Riggers (used as certificate numbers). Posting that kind of informatlon in a public forum is an invitation to identity theft. Thanks.

base-canopy to fit into skydiving container (to skydive it)
vid666 replied to mostwanted's topic in Archive
I second what base_rigger said. It can, and has been done. a five-fold freepack works quite well. And nothing can inflate if packed properly. Not that there's all that much exposed. Plus if you are exiting a 182 on a low speed pass, you'd have to a complete imbecile to fuck it up. -

if you are doing hop'n'pops from a small airplane- just lengthen the closing loop, it will be ugly with the canopy popping out, but it will get hte job done. This way you can put a 260 in J2 if you wanted to. Or even bigger. -
but unless you are pulling high, you would be hanging on the lower set of guy wires - which are definately not angled as steeply as the higher ones.

Just so proper credit is given, the photo was taken by Eliott "blitzkrieg". I have cropped it and photoshoped the colors to my liking

same exact scenario. THe pics attached was in crosswinds ~~ 10 or so from left to right. I believe everybody on the load had 90 lefts (into the wind). I think it's alot more of a PC pullng the packjob to the side then the packjob being shifted by the wind. I do think the wind shifting the packjob may contribute to a 180 though. (kinda like 90 induced by a PC, and another 90 induced by the packjob shift). but what do i know ...
-
In certain crosswinds or certain fucked up body positions, or certain fucked up packjobs it's supposed to open 180 :) I bet you mean the direction YOU WANT IT TO :)

it looks like there is right rear RISER input vs. toggles. But like Gregor said I too have had the cats eye hangup on the white loop on a lazy toggle release. At that point canopy got almost no forward flight, just rotation around the axis and nice sink. And that was on almost new Mopheus risers.

I *have* been drinking ! But isn't one of things that BASE teaches you is to desensitize(sp) ? Isn't going in a consequence we have all thought of on a jump ? Why get so terrified when it does happen ? Perhaps if you are not ready to accept the reality you are not ready to jump ? P.S. But perhaps I am just wrong ... P.P.S. I don't mean any disrespect to the deseased jumpers. I am just saying that I felt that at BD some people walked down because the event shook them up, while others walked down because of respect... Those 2 are very different. P.P.P.S. Nor am I calling anybody a pussy.

I meant TOWING IN - as in not inflating, period. Bad advice/mentorship has killed more than one person. Lack of either has killed a few too :)
-
I suggest learning from somebody who knows their shit and IN PERSON. Pictures are nice, but when you are towing your pilot chute at whatever *low* altitude, you may re-think your decision about taking advice on the internet.

AT&T Long Lines tower. Long extint product of cold war. Most (not all) are de-actived. almost all were sold to ATC in early 2000s, and many are now privately owned. Hornes are there for you have extra altitue when you jump from them. They are microwave, but like I said, most are de-activated. Some have even been de-horned. Great towers, many have a few feet PAST the railing letting you take a running start. Tony I suggest you invite somebody you know from CLE to check it out. I am definately up for this weekend. :)

you don't think that they are shown in different stages of inflation ? The Toxic has just pulled the canopy to linestrech (the slider is still up) while some others don't even have the bridle fully tensioned (see the warp between pc-bridle-shrevel flap that is not peeling yet). - I bet fully inflated there would be much less distortion visible in the pics in Toxic vs. any Vented PC
