Deploying from a track...How does this change anything?
phoenixlpr replied to Chris-Ottawa's topic in Gear and Rigging
Never mind. They think that tracking involves higher deployment speed. I've attached two jump profiles: WS was a wing suit jump with a Triathlon160, other was a hop and pop with a Cobalt Competition 105. -
Really? I got about 200 WS dive and usually pulled from full flight, so having about 100 Km/h+ horizontal speed.

Any canopy can open hard. Why Spectre would be an exception?
-
Floating is just one feature. How about the others? Forward speed?
-
Get a Sabre2!
-
How about doing your homework before you start jumping something new? An F1-11 canopy does not flare as good as a ZP or hybrid canopy. It can be landed soft if you know and practiced how.
-
What do you expect? Its a new canopy.
-
Negative. That is just plain stupid. You have to know how and how much you can turn.

Has anyone got any experience of lightning strike mid-air under canopy?

Why is static line a dying discipline?
phoenixlpr replied to kmills0705's topic in Safety and Training
Sure. Static line program is not just having static line jumps only. -
Tell me why do you need more accuracy? Do you swoop or jump with accuracy canopy? +/- 50m won;t kill you. I don't think that you could miscalibrate your altimeter so easily.
-
Try to listen! Simple: get an analog altimeter first. Why? Because that is always working.

How will I know when I'm ready to move to a bigger suit?
phoenixlpr replied to skittles_of_SDC's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Get a GPS and fly with it. You'll see there is 1000 different way of flying a suit. Flock with others too. -
How many jumps should you have before jumping a crossbraced?
phoenixlpr replied to Andrewwhyte's topic in Safety and Training
Well, thats his/her call. What is the point jumping a crossbraced with load 1.9 anyway? -
I had several night jumps. I had a red bicycle light clipped on my container. I had a cheap forehead light on my leg in strobe mode. That forehead light was about 8 Euros (made in China), it uses some AAA battery and it has 3 bright leds. You can see here how does it look. I got it over my ankle.

How many jumps should you have before jumping a crossbraced?
phoenixlpr replied to Andrewwhyte's topic in Safety and Training
With the amount of jumps you have you should know if you are ready for that or not. -
Pardon me? I don't get it. Do what? My toggles were on stand by, before getting to start flare.

This is ridiculous...but here it goes.
phoenixlpr replied to Pulse's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Its a really bad idea. Its perfect for face plant or breaking your tail bone. There is a lot better method described in Brian Germain's book. Legs in front of each other, bended ready to take impact or run. Back leg is under you spine and provide some protection. The front leg is just like a nose gear, the rear leg is just like the main landing gear of an aircraft. -
+1 I tried to use GPS to help finding the right points for my swoop in a new place for me. The result was awful. You don't need any gadget to land a canopy. You have to learn how far you can be for your target on a no wind day than adjust you pattern to the actual winds.

Hmmm... Schrodingers famous canopy experiment where you pack a canopy in a container and you don't know whether it's a good canopy or a malfunction until you pull. Your packed rig is therefore set in a state of undefined quantum flux between malfunction and no malfunction and the skydiver is neither alive nor dead until the measurement is made at pull time. That anomaly of physics? You are right, but you might call it just life. You just don't know things before they happen.

I got my Optima goes siren on about ~20m. I did a 180 degrees front riser turn. Is there some way to disable that? from manual: ***3rd warning: Siren alarm as long as vertical airspeed exceeds 13 m/sec at or below the preset altitude. After deployment the trigger speed switches to 35 m/sec. Sound sequence: High pitch continuous siren.Quote Should I consider to remove or switch my Cypres off? Thanks!

After seeing 2 students flaring 3-5m high....Yes, it is.
-
you, you and your gear.

Its so funny. Goes around, comes around. BTW it was perfect, anyway I did it .
