  1. Oh, the good old, automotive example again. Sorry, it has nothing to do with aviation. It was a nice try anyway.
  2. I don't think that he/she should have any business in bigway with landing accuracy problem of that scale....
  3. I have seen someone having a PC in the tow after a bit lazy throw. It was her 2nd WS jump. Agree. I had difficulties to collapse my air-locked leg wing for deployment. Everyone starts flying Blade over here even as a first suit. I'm on the heavy side, so I can not keep up level with them with a Phantom.
  4. He recovered so it was not unrecoverable.
  5. You should be able to land in any direction in moderate winds. With high winds even the complete idiots are landing into the the winds. Yes, your indicator is on. Once my S&TA told me that if I want to land in the swoop area there is only 2 directions are allowed there parallely in line with the swoop pond: either east-west or west-east. The hundred ways landing is usually happening if the is almost no winds, but its changing and some smart people start chasing the wind sock or they just start winning because the winds sock does not hang in the "right" way where they were landing. Or you should learn how to read other people's pattern. Real swoopers fly disciplined pattern to landing. That is the only way to get consistent and accurate landing.
  6. So far, I got some spin from the door, pulled out from flight by docking, pushed out and had 4 rodeos with some spining, rolling after exit. I don't consider myself an exceptional pilot, so I suspect that suit design has something to do with the tendency of going to flat spin. I got 200+ flights on a Phantom and 20+ on Stealth.
  7. I did barel rolls with leg wing open. It gave me a diving roll only. How can I stay head high if I have a full leg wing flying? I have found this. It looks like an Mach1 or SM1 on the video flown on the back with narrow leg wings, than spin start with asymmetric leg position.
  8. Guys! Gimme a break! Why do you think that a disciplinary problem can be solved with new rules? You can define chaos as actions without consequences. Wining about landing direction is a good indicator for lack of canopy control skills.
  9. How would that be a flat spin? It sounds like a head down spiral.
  10. How can you get into flat spin?
  11. LOL. If you let it develop so far. I'd go for a delta with loose arm wings and big arch instead..... Than move back to relaxed flight. Nice, and in case of pink suit you'd call me g1.....
  12. Can you tell me how can I get a flat spin? I don't have a narrow stand Bird-man suit, so I could not experience that pleasure so far. I think flat spin belongs to the legacy designs.
  13. Golf or bowling. Its up to you.
  14. How do you know if you would be ready for that?
  15. Nice article! But the title is a bit misleading. Its more about gear check and other issues.
  16. I used to jump a Pilot150 with WL 1.3+. So I might have a concept how is that could be. Ready or not ? I can not tell that. Your fears do not make him right or wrong. You can hurt yourself with any canopy. I did with a Navigator 220, I hope I'd learnt that lesson.
  17. Jumping on almost sea level would not make it too agressive. Some people dedicate his jump for canopy control. I know others still do not know enough even after 500 jumps. I'm still surprised about the "constructive" attitude here. None has recommended any reading or canopy control course for him. Pilot is a quite nice wing for him with short recovery. I used to jump a 150.
  18. Good plan! Its nice to have an analog altimeter when your digital one shows the finger.
  19. For you may be. Its quite interesting to have a strict oppinion about something even you don't know all important details like elevation or density altitude.... There is so many things you can learn about swooping even with 38 jumps.
  20. After having a discussion with a rigger I have ordered vectran 750 for my Cobalt. I want to have a line-set which last long.
  21. WS track vv = 120 km/h vh = 80 km/h |v| = 144.22 km/h My terminal speed in box is about 190-210 km/h. Higher deployment speed can cause harder opening, but this is not the case here.
  22. Both opening was soft. WS opening had even less vertical component.
  23. Get an analog altimeter. Simple, reliable.
  24. FYI your canopy knows nothing about vertical or horizontal speeds. The relative wind matters...
