Aircraft emergencies - freefall and canopy collisions
phoenixlpr replied to lintern's topic in Safety and Training
It was some thread about this too. If you have to leave the plane for this reason you have to leave it as soon as you can and open about 2 sec delay, so the vertical speed of the plane is going to make the separation. -
It depends. You may read a lot about the technical side. Search the forums! Financial side: both costs about the same, but AFF is more intensive, so you should have the money together... It depends on the weather too. If the clouds are closing by 1500m ... you have no chance for AFF. So if you have the money, possible good weather, free time AFF can be a better choice.

GPS and so? If you have ground vision you should be able to check is that the right spot or not.

Sending your cypres through the x-ray at the airport
phoenixlpr replied to LearningTOfly's topic in Gear and Rigging
Heh? Do you have a Cypress card? Its for that reason that you can show what they suppose to find inside. So it was check for that by Airtech. Anyway Cypress has lot common with a bomb, at least under X-ray. -
Why me? I have the same concerns like you too.

I`m not sure if its safe or/and even legal.

Is your Wingloading within the WNE Chart?
phoenixlpr replied to FrancoR's topic in Safety and Training
OK. I`m jumping in Finland. Under jump nr 250: WL shoud be less than 1.35 and no elliptical is allowed. Student can not use own gear. I have a mentors, so I can not do anything I like, just because I`m licensed skydiver... That`s the culture difference I`ve talking about. -

You must have missed something. I`m not jumping in US. I`m not an USPA member..... There are a bit different habits and regulations here. -

phoenixlpr replied to FrancoR's topic in Safety and Training
Don`t worry. I have my mentors. WNE is a nice idea, but its not for my jumping culture. -

I do agree. I`ve broken my ankle with a PD Nav220 WL -

phoenixlpr replied to FrancoR's topic in Safety and Training
I don`t feel so safe yet. I have a lot to learn with that. I had only 9 jumps with it. My mentors think that I can handle it. WNE is not enforced here, we have different limits. -

Ok. Check my profile. I fly a Pilot150 @WL~1.3 -
I think I`ve found some thing for you. 120 vs 230. What is the drag caused by the jumper, lineset, canopy? The lines of the 120 are shorter than the lines of the 230, arm of the jumper is about the same length. Same amount in brake input on shorter brake lines? As you see the jumper does not scale, so any more question?
-
I`m not in a hurry. I`ve just bought my Pilot :). I think I need some jump before starting with A-Max
-
What has happened with A-MAX ??? I can`t find it on Aerodyn Research website anymore. Has it been pulled out?
-
I would not call myself conservative if I would load my main over the recommended max. weight. Like 210 lbs with a PD210(PD9cell)...................
-
I`m not sure if its about the size of the place. I was told what patter to fly and what are my turning points. Ask your instructor about those points. don`t worry so much. I`ve f***ed up my landing pattern and I`ve almost landed on trees on jump nr 50+. Get or make a good plan(about your landing) and stick to it. Edit: spelling

Based on what?

I think you are going offtopic.

To AAD or Not To AAD, That is the Question...
phoenixlpr replied to Bandanarama's topic in Gear and Rigging
Having an AAD might save your life. Having skydiving as a hobby or as a sport does not mean that you can`t die in other way....... Take it easy. Don`t think too much. -
