What's the coolest looking canopy colour pattern?
phoenixlpr replied to darrenspooner's topic in Gear and Rigging
Im not usre if the coolest patters is the most important. For me high visibility was the most important factor. Ive ordered Red-NeonYellow-White-Red-Red-Red-Red-Red-Red ribs, bottoms match the upper skin. -
IMHO its not a big deal. I always drop my PC before packing it. You can see is it working or not .

Broken steering line and bruised tailbone
phoenixlpr replied to cvfd1399's topic in Safety and Training
Its a bit hard to beleive that the normal procedure for a student in case of broken break line is riser flare. Are you trained for that? Have you practiced it before? Id rather go to plan B in that case. Its good to hear that you are OK. Ive landed on tail bone twice. I know how it feels and how long it heels. -
I doono. Do you mean do it physically or survive it? :)

What canopy was that?

Ive started with F111/low cfm accuracy canopies. Ive though fast/ZP is not for me. Ive tried a ZP/hibrid, I dont wanna go back :). Speed is flare :).
-
The theory is that you should stop flare when you almost on the ground and let it fly on level and add as much flare to keep you on level. So exchange lift for speed. And when your speed is over just step down and smile :) I had my mistake once: I have not finished flare just step down.......the result was a kindda hit the ground with the nose :). It was not painful ,bucause I had just a small amount of speed, but it was embarassing. The only was is practice. I would try in light wind.

Thats the thing you wont have with a PD7cell/PD9cell. With F111/low cfm canopy, your point is minimize vartical speed on flare. With ZP, when you minimize vertical speed, you have a reasonable amount of horizontal speed: so stage 1: minimize vertical speed( make it 0 - level out), stage 2: fly on level an bleed out horizontal speed/slow down. :)

AFAK. This is not a malfunction, at least not with canopies using students. It might look strange, but nothing to do with it.

In IAD the PC is in a small elastic bag, holded by the instructor in the door and that bag is connected to the plane.
-
I used my ProTrack on my goggles. Ive tried in the packet of my JS, but I couldnt hear it :(. I have it in my Z1 helmet now.
-
There can be more than one SL attached to the plane.

Just one question? What is happening with S/L and IAD student on forced exit????
-
:) Check the Lotus/Airlocked thread. You can read how to land in high winds. Chopping means, that you can not handle the situation with toggles and risers on the grround.......

Little Late now for those questions, don't ya think??? I have no question about Pilot, because my answer is coming... :) He asked for comments: "...good or bad." I donno is it good or bad comments for him.... :)

As you said, he survived. My guess was that time/date he was in front of a decision of buying a gear. It seems he hasmade up his mind already.
-
:) Sometimes it would be nice to check the time of the post. It seems he has survived 50 jumps under a 190sqrft canopy :)

You should pay for the brand!

In Hungary sealing the reserve is mandatory, in Finland too(I think , but Im not sure)
-
Stop yelling! Discover lowercase characters too.
-
Ive ordered it. Its coming. Is it good or bad? :)
-
In Finland it costs 69E for batteries, 195/235E(normal/express) for maintenance.

I dont wanna be rude, but the number of your jumps Im not sure if you should have any business with an elliptical. Cool down! Broken wings heal long.
