AAD's & Personal Acceptable Risk Thresholds
phoenixlpr replied to Hooknswoop's topic in Safety and Training
Heh??? I simply stated that AAD does not mean Cypress. Cypress is not the only AAD. Nothing more. -
Weak argument. :) AAD != Cypress

AAD's & Personal Acceptable Risk Thresholds

Is a student device dependent too??? If its a have to have you can not depend on that.... just in that sense that you are not allowed to go without it. -
Khm. I`d rather call it last chance...... I had 50+ jumps without AAD: hop`n`pop and RW too. I`ve proved myself in EP before. Jumping shouldn`t be about AAD. Once I had a jump with a gear having PPKU,old mechanical AAD. I`ve forgot to arm it onboard. I`ve noticed it just after landing. I`ve realized that I`m not depending on AAD anymore...

Yet another AAD discussion/pool?

My 1st canopy was loaded at 1.33 and it hurt
phoenixlpr replied to xavenger's topic in Safety and Training
I`ve bought mine. I was not sure if I could handle it. I trusted my mentors and I`m still flying as conservative as I can. I still fear and respect my canopy, but I`ve gained some confidence with flying it. -
Yeah. That`s all about using high-tech and mysterious material for building skydiving equipment. They not going to be damaged by getting wet, but you should not wash them by yourself. You know a dirty and never cleaned container last longer and even burns better after use of 20 years than one washed and cleaned ever 2nd or 4th year.....

Thanks. I think I`m going to be in Hungary in July. I think I`m going to get those skills I need in the next 2 months. My beast is flying great, but I have to learn a lot for survive it.

For your information, you don`t have to stall your canopy to get out 100% flare.

Aircraft Pilots & Canopy Pilots Safely Sharing The Sky
phoenixlpr replied to pyke's topic in Safety and Training
I think we don`t need any new process. I`d like to know who has failed to follow the existing ones. I had jumps at several airport where under 300m the runway was a no fly zone for us. We shared airspace with gliders, hang gliders, para-gliders too without any conflict.I was almost hit by a glider rolling after landing on a taxiway, but it could have been my own stupid fault. -
I`m sorry. I was not a real question. We don`t fly the same kindda canopy and not having similar wing load either. I think a Pilot150 might fly a bit different than a Spectre210. Trust me, I might know what is stall. For your information a can not stall my canopy with toggles. Thanks for your efforts. PS.: Sometimes it is a good idea to check other`s profile ;)

I`m sorry. I can`t understand that. Think again ;).
-
Thanks for your answer!
-
Example: I did a left 90 degree turn. I`ve stopped the turn with the right break. My canopy was over my head. I had a small left swing when I`ve let both toggles up.
-
Hi, I`ve started practicing flat turns. I have a problem: I still have a minor side swing when I`m releasing toggles. Is it normal or am I doing something wrong?
-
If you want to have your analogy: AAD ~ Airbag.

Skydiving is not like driving and a gear is not like a car..... Cypres or Vigil might the last chance before bounce.

I have 9 jumps on RS-4A round military parachute. I don`t want to to have more. It`s something like connected to a balloon and landings are unpredictable: from tip-toe to bang...

This is an old bone. Search the forums and you can find at least one thread about this.

flightsuit ???? Jumpsuit! Don`t consufe use with wingsuit!
-
He might have been talking about naked jump ;).
-
Yes, I have. I was jumping without it. I own one and I would jump without it again. I can find other reasons why not to jump.

Wow! French canopy nazis! In Finland
