Hm. I have about the same. You should at least respect it.

IMHO its not about the jump type, its about the jump plane. What to do in case of C206? If I sit in for the last and jump out for the first? I check my pin before get my rig on. I check my pin-flap and handles in the plane.

Does any cool gadget changing best practices? One of my friend went low with an AFF jump, because he was relying his audible that he managed to leave on ground...

You might face that there is no solution for every problem. People use to die in this sport. Accident or bad judgement ... does it matter? I`d rather follow best practices. I wont cut-away under hard deck. I reserve needs 100m or 3 second to open and remember your altimeter is not a really accurate instrument.

Oh good! How could I survive 5 year not to have and not to see any canopy collision or mid-air canopy damage? IMHO cutting away low is making bad to worst.

My Canopy Is Hard For Me To Flare....
phoenixlpr replied to windcatcher's topic in Safety and Training
Harder steering pressure is one characteristic of the 7 cell canopies. My instructor had the same problem with young female students. They could not have more than 2 jump per day. After 2 jumps they had no power to turn or flare. I think the gym is the optimal solution for you. -
A similar thing has happened with one of my friend. After nice day of skydiving by taking his jumpsuit off next to his car he has lost his balance and his arm stucked between his car and the seat of his car. The result was a broken bone and plaster....

Wow!! From what? Are you flying through a fireball or someone is shooting at you from the ground? I think you should be open over 600m. I don`t think controllability check would take long. Is it so hard not to spun up and stall you canopy under 600m? Or what else can happen?

I was told that VectorII is not FreeFly friendly.

What kind of hook knife was that?

Why do people sell their gear for more than a dealer
phoenixlpr replied to johnnyboydan's topic in Gear and Rigging
So? IMHO Anyone can try to sell anything for any price. You dont have to buy anything :) -
Nice comment, Troll.

Why not? I hate to bag it, but I love to jump with it.

Sounds good. But some things are missing for me: 1. Have a plan ....... place and pattern 2. Have a backup plan.... 3. Do as you planned if you can do so I have found myself in trouble when I poorly executed my first plan.

Ye ye, and you can swim on dry too. Have you done it in real? You would notice the difference. Anyway student are told how to land.
-
Ok. Tell me why cut-away is not in the student program. I do mean do it real. I`ve heard it was part of the program in the army (non-US)

Would you take legal liabilities as an instructor?

I`ve collapsed mine several times. Ok, it was a 260-300sqft accuracy with spring loaded PC. I was told that I can try whatever I want over 800-1000m. One of my friend has grabbed a A+B line and pulled in until the leading edge for fun. These things can be done, but think on what altitude and with what canopy.

I have learnt something with skydiving: panic = death I had some mals. It was quite empty and peaceful, just me and EP. There was not panic or time out there. It has slightly changed my life. I had the shocking effect just on the ground after landing with a reserve.

I have a VectorII v1-2. from the size chart of the manual: v5: type: S Main: min/max 425/550 cci Reserve: min/max 330/430 cci Raider220 (1986-): 484cci Raider220 (pre 1986): 535 cci So it seems good to go.
-
Simple: Try them! You can decide too. It`s quite a personal preference.

Some years ago I heard about an IAD fatality. I was not on site when it happend. He was a first timer. So IAD is not 100% pool proof either. It was due to his poor exit position.
-
? what? I`ve started with pull-outs. I would jump them any time. I just hate to pack pull-out with spring loaded PCs...........
-
Jump numer is nothing. Where was it used? I`ve read canopies may hold less than 1000 jumps in a desert or even more than 2000 jumps where is no fine sand...

Pilot: opens great, flies great, I dont want to sell it
