What is wrong with Navigator? It's an excellent canopy. Safe, reliable and easy to pack. It's fun to fly around WL 1.0.
-
IMHO hurting ourself under a good, flying canopy is our dumbass fault.

Have a full and fast recovery! I was quite close to your story yesterday. It was windy: 5/7/10 m/s min/avg/max(10min). I managed to screw-up my pattern with spiraling. I've found myself on 100m 180 degrees off heading where I should be. I had two choices: 180 degrees front riser turn to the left, but there was no place to escape if I get low or 90 degrees to the right and land side-wind. I've made a 90 degrees right turn with some flare turn into the wind. I had a tip-toe landing.

Please notice a "" at the end of both posts. It seems my weird ideas were not weird enough to get as a joke.

I think there aren't any rules like that. You should know the limits. How? Trying them. Open high and learn your wing. Control your canopy with smooth toggle movements. If you see the your canopy is turning faster than you release some breaks smoothly. IMHO it was not about your WL. I vote for line length. Longer lines - easier to spun up. You don't need a new line set, just feel your wing. Action - reaction. I'd start with slower turns first. Keep your canopy/lines under tension. Give some time to your canopy after a 180-360... turn before you start turning to the opposite side.

It's always safe to say no. Don't let yourself being pushed by others.

In what plane? In our club we don't use seatbelts for C172, C207, but we use for C208. -
No thanks. I've started with round canopies: RS4/A. 2.: "red/orange warning label" was not serious.Quote

Cleaning your container, worth it?
phoenixlpr replied to Mostly_Harmless's topic in Gear and Rigging
I think its just a myth that cleaning a container is bad. Go ahaed! -
Ok. So stay under WL 1.0 as long as you collect 100 jumps altogether. I broke my ankle with a PD Navigator220 ~ WL 1.0 jump nr 87. Trust me! I could get more serious injuries under a 170/190. Try to learn from other`s faults or feel free to make those faults by yourself!

Nice price, but not 4 you. Stay under WL 1.0 as long as you have a student license.

Util jump 30 I have not found the landing area by freefall. I was not even looking for that. How would you realize that? :) I had plenty of track dive. My alti is on my wrist, so I can not see during tracking. I use Pro-Track too. I set 1st warning to 1200m, 2nd to 950m. After some time I feel the time is close for opening and the ground is closer too.

As you see 9 cells are better.

I had the same feeling, they start climbing out when they would jump as solo after the previous group.

This is something you have to discuss with your instructor.

My comment was about ostracism, not about safety. -
:). Cool. If I have them even, I have a built in turn :).
-
Why? If they would not produce anything just T-10 and other conical mains we could not hook in.
-
Come on! What else can you do before FFC? Just read anything you can have.
-
Yeah. Specially from the manufacturer. They just put a big red/orange warning label and thats all.
-
Spins you have described? I have exceeded WL1.4 on a Pilot. I took some time to realize that the reason of my turns is me or my position in the harness.
-
Why do you wanna have an elliptical? If you go there, you have to pay its price. You may still go faster under a Sabre2/Saffire2/Pilot.

What kind of future can you expect if you have 60-80 jumps and none is willing to jump with you? -
It can be life and death or even nothing. Its up to the pilot under it. For US? Some guy are having nice chart and data not to exceed. For some other countries?
