Holy shit, Ken Gillispie!!!! Ken has been on every big way world record since the concept was hatched, well, maybe not lately but what do I know lately but Ken's been on more more than 99.9% of all skydivers. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

I've retired and am living on our farm in Western Kentucky now but plan on being back in Dallas for Christmas but we're going to Reno from there for New Years. Don't know when I'll get the chance to stop by Houston though. Really would like to see you guys though. Say hi to your mom, bro and sis for me. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

photo of near miss with Southwest 737?
usedtajump replied to panzwami's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There never was an intent to get the Southwest aircraft in the shot. All we were trying to do was to get a picture of a round with the ball of Reunion Tower centered in the middle, the aircraft was a lucky accident. Participants are, clockwise from top, Jim Houston, Calvin Reeves, myself, Tim Patterson, Randy Livingston and Bill Parsons was the photographer. We jumped out of a Cessna 206. Along with an original of the picture under discussion, I still have two others in the series, the one Upndownshop refered to and one after the aircraft departed the area. In the picture with the aircraft in it, you can see that it is just starting a right turn to the west and he continued turning west to get out of the area. At the time, I was a dispatcher for a jet charter airline and one of our clients was Herb Kellerher, CEO of Southwest. I gave him a copy of the photo shortly after it happened and he was truly amazed. A friend, who worked for Southwest as a captain at the time, told me Herb had a large mural of the photo made for his office wall. Oh yeah Upndownshop, Diane Senkow used to refer to Bob's loft, "The Upndown Shop" as the "Down and Out Shop". The older I get the less I care who I piss off. -

Valet car parker at DFW Airport. Paid $10.00/hr for just checking my brain in at the door every morning, then got to drive all the latest high end cars, got good tips, no work to take home and every weekend off. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

I rented a Budget Cargo Van on a weekly rate basis and outfitted it with chairs, mattress, coleman heater, etc and went on a 2 week driving vacation using the van as living quarters. Didn't cost much more than a weekly rate for a mid size rent car. You know the old saying, "Fudge It With Budget". The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

Squeak, ditto on "Have I told You Lately" by Van the Man. Everytime I watch our wedding DVD, I get cold chills (in a good way ). There's a song by an old group named Seatrain called "We Are Your Children Too" that's always good for a lump in the throat. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

I just finished hanging multicolored lights from the eves of the house. Guess multi colored are more traditional and I'll do whatever is customary. Luckily, before hanging them, I tested the set we used last year and of course, they didn't work so off to the Dollar Store for three more sets. My brother in law decorated a hugh Christmas tree last night with all the traditional tinsel, balls, lights, etc. and when finished, plugged in the lights and they didn't work. Terry, I had a similar experience to yours where I thought I was going to die until the round reserve finally opened at 500'. What really amazes me is I got the same sensation that you did that when I realized I was about to die, I just calmed down and it seemed I was suddenly at peace with dieing. Anyone else experienced this phenomenon? The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

Awright Russ! Video of this event would be superb. Jerry The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

Most expensive bit of gear you have lost?
usedtajump replied to Mike111's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Early 80s. Entire rig (Classyflyer, Lite Cloud main, Comet Reserve), two jumpsuits, Altimaster II & III, helmet, rigging kit and all my logbooks in gear bag fell off my motorcycle while I was riding to the DZ. Didn't notice it was missing until arriving at the DZ. Immediatly retraced the entire route but never found any trace of it. The upside was that my insurance payed for replacement of all the equipment but there was no way to replace the memories recorded in those logbooks. I still wonder what happened to all that stuff. Use earplugs at all times in the aircraft unless of course you want to develop ringing in your ears to the point of being permantely hearing impaired. It's a little effort on your part but the rewards are well worth it. I only wish I'd done it in time. Will someone answer that godamn phone? The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

This is actually AWESOME for you. Follow these steps and you can have good BBQ's. 1. Catch chicken. Hang it by it's neck with a rope against a hard surface. 2. Get axe. Cut off the chickens head and watch it run around with blood squirting out its neck. (This is cool) 3. After chicken stops running around and flopping on the ground pick it up and place it in boiling water for a few seconds. Pull out of boiling water. 4. Begin pulling its feathers out. Then take out its innards. Once all the feathers and innards are out you have cook ready chicken. 5. Grill, cook or fry chicken. Now you have lunch or dinner in your yard everyday. This will save you thousands of dollars yearly. Great suggestion but even better, each time you prepare the above feast, invite the neighbor in question over for a chicken dinner. Just got back from visiting my 91 year old mom and dad. What you related is no joke, that's the way life is when you're that old. Hell, they even laugh about it. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

EFS4EVER, was that picture of Chris and yourself taken in his "apartment" at Decatur airport? Jesus, the things that went on in there!! I noticed some Bickerdike artwork on the wall. I still have one of his posters that reads "Skydive The Metroplex". The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
