  1. I used to be a pretty avid rock climber before skydiving and used to play paintball a lot before that. But now my climbing gear has been sitting in my closet for about 2 months and my paintball guns have been sitting there for about 1.5 years... I do wakeboard these days though when I'm not jumping. 2. I don't have to but it'll be hot down there, I'll need something to drink.
  3. That's no excuse You should come down for this.
  4. Definitely let me know when you'll be in Florida. You've got a free place to stay and free beer. Maybe we'll even get one of those crazy jumps in you were talking about Thanks for the vibes
  5. ... This Tomorrow morning at 9am I leave to move down to Deland. I'll be driving down with my friend/teammate for nationals and we should be getting to the dz hopefully by about 2:00pm on Friday afternoon (yes we're heading to the dz first.) Who is going to be there on Friday and who will be there this weekend? This will be my *first* time moving to Deland so I'll be buying beer.
  6. Rach, I thought you only needed 2 more? What happened? Anyhow I'd be interested in doing a pickup 8 way team once 4-way is done. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  7. Hopefully we'll be there for the draw, but I think our priority is to get as much flying time together as we can (pick up team, we've never all jumped together before.) I'll definitely give Lake Wales a call and find out the actual time of the draw though and hope we can all get there for it... Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  8. Does anyone know what time the draw is? We have tunnel time booked from 5:30pm - 6:30pm. Hopefully the draw is after that? Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  9. You should get the booties, they are a major asset to belly flying plus they have added drag which could help to slow you down. Go for the mega-booties (or whatever the BodySports equivalent is.) Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com

Please explain how this is more efficient than tracking and what you mean by efficient (slower vertical, faster horizontal?) Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  12. There's no snow here yet. That picture is from last January. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  13. 65kg is about 143 lbs. I fly a stiletto 135 and I weigh 150 lbs and my exit weight is 165 so I'd guess your rig to weigh about 15 lbs as well making your exit weight 158. That would put your wingloading on the 135 at 1.17 I load my Stiletto 135 from 1.2 - 1.3 depending on how much weight I'm wearing (probably very similar to you) and I love the openings. I had a lot of trouble with the openings when I first got it (off heading, slow spins to the left) so I sent it in to get it relined which made a world of difference. I also became very aware of my body position when I deploy and always fly the openings. If it looks like the canopy is going off in one direction I'll lean a little in the other direction. I almost always have on heading openings now and they are all very soft. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  14. From FAR Section 105.43: (a) The main parachute must have been packed within 120 days before the date of its use by a certificated parachute rigger, the person making the next jump with that parachute, or a non-certificated person under the direct supervision of a certificated parachute rigger. Direct Supervision means that a certificated rigger personally observes a non-certificated person packing a main parachute to the extent necessary to ensure that it is being done properly, and takes responsibility for that packing. 17. Well this picture was from a Saturday, but it was out of the Cessna... Referring to the same picture: what path? Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  18. Cool, well I'll definitely check that out as well as put a few more jumps on the Pantz after nationals. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  19. OK thanks for the info guys. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com

  21. I can understand and would expect to be held liable to any physical damage done in an off-field landing. I guess my question then is more the trespassing aspect of it or landing in a restricted area. If it is a true emergency landing and it is the first time you or any other skydiver has landed there could you still be charged with trespassing? 22. Occasionally I'll forget to turn mine on. It will most often happen with my second rig if I'm doing a back to back and didn't gear check both rigs when I first took them out. If I realize that the Cypres is not on and I'm on the plane it means that I didn't do a gear check either and I'll ask someone to check my pins and make sure everything is OK. If I'm not on the plane then I'll take the rig off and do the check myself. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  23. I only did one jump with the Pantz and they were the freefly version. I know that one jump with them definitely is not enough to really learn them but I didn't feel like buying a pair of them to really try out. As I said, my best solo tracking dive was 82 avg vertical speed. My first jump with the pants was mid 90s for the average but I could not find the sweet spot on them since I was trying to go fast, pitching forward and then lightening up trying to regain a flatter glide. As for the progrssive track I think what you are saying is to start up dearched and as you gain speed to get flat? I usually do it the other way. As most of my tracks are away from formations (I'm primarily an RW guy) I start by going from my arch to flattening out as I turn away from the formation and gradually dearching as I track away. I'm sure that Pantz should give me a slower average fall rate than my RW suit since there is so much more surface area. I think that I'd just need to do a bunch of jumps with them to figure them out which will have to wait until nationals is done. I think there's three other people that would kill me if I jumped the Pantz instead of doing RW... Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  24. I don't get to start my weekend early, but I will be jumping tomorrow afternoon. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  25. OK, thanks for the info Quade. Like I said, I'm not planning on landing somewhere I can't and claiming it was an emergency landing, just curious about what I've "heard" from people. As for demos I'm planning on waiting until I get a PRO rating and keeping the whole thing very legal and official. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
