  1. Then hit a disc in a four way intersection on a DEMO. Oh wait, we know you won't, because there is no money involved. Money isn't everything Jimbo. Anyway, sorry about posting the PM I thought you liked it when people heard what you had to say. It would be awesome if we could end the bickering!!! Go Jets!!!
  2. A PM from Jimmy Tavino Dude, I was talking about the coach jumps you do. And as far as the thousands of jumps thing, I sure hope I know more than you when I get there. I also hope I'm not like you and become afraid to jump onto a football field or something for free. I wouldn't be on the DEMO if the DZO was afraid that I was going to hit a car or child. You aren't going to get me to see your point!! Your point is lame!!! Get it?????????? Thanks for killing the thread with your grumpy way!!! Go Yankee's!!!!!
  3. Yeah, work, that's it!!! Real hard work!!! Launch a 4 way out of a plane with smoke, turn some points, trail a flag, swoop Ft. Bliss Army base, listen to the crowd cheer, get your name and picture in the paper, get on the 6 o' clock news, meet some important people, and usually get a free T-Shirt. Holy Shit!!! What a hard bunch of crap to do!!! Well, it beats the hell out of packing and doing coaching jumps for free. That shit is work, this is a free jump over the city and landing in some never before landed places. But, you're right it's work. . . . . FUN ASS WORK!!! Now, you can FOGETABOUTIT Jimmy Tavino/hard working man!!! Clint D-24352
  4. What happened to the faces? I couldn't even tell you were from New York without them. I had to read your last post with a New York accent to get the same feel. Anyway, our DZO has been doing his thing since the early 70's. He knows how to run his business and he knows that DEMOs are a big thing for him. Because he knows how important they are, he wants them done right. And because he wants them done right, he goes to the right people. Those people are always me, my Dad, and 1 or 2 other quality jumpers. Since he always asks me over a lot of other jumpers with more jumps this gives me a lot of responsibility which I enjoy. I also enjoy: Every jump is potentially risky and DEMOs can be as well because they are usually done into landing sites never before seen. That is another reason why I like them. The challenge is awesome, especially when you are the first one in and have to set the pattern. I enjoy that shit a lot. I also enjoy being 1 of 4 jumpers always on the DEMO because the DZO knows I can handle it. The THRILL and the free jump ($15.00 + $15.00 for smoke) is my payment. They are just a blast to do. Clint D-24352
  5. Wow, that is a whole lot of faces. I could only imagine what it would be like to watch you talk!!! Anyway, just to clarify, the DEMO's I do are free for me, meaning the jump is free. I do not get paid, but I don't give a shit because I'm not in it to get paid. The EXPERIENCE and the FUN is good enough. The DEMOs are paid for most of the time, but we do charity jumps as well, if it is for a good cause. I.E. Cancer Run/Walk events, Vietnam memorial wall events, and recently we did a DEMO for a returning soldier who fought in IRAQ. To clarify another thing, the DZO is a single owner and it is a Cessna dropzone but does not think he is He has no staff and he does everything from maintenance, rigging, packing student chutes, etc. all by himself. So, I could go on for hours about your opinion, but I don't have time to explain things you will never understand. There is more to the sport of skydiving than getting paid, obviously you haven't found that out in your 2800 jumps which I'm sure you paid for. Clint D-24352
  6. I have around 550 jumps and don't have any unintentional cutaways, but last weekend at the AOTMB I did an intentional cutaway using the RWS's (Relative Workshop) rig equipped with the skyhook. The rig was specially designed to accomodate a belly reserve, and the thing worked like a champ. I exited from 13,500 took it down to 7,000 dumped the main (PD 210) played under it untill 2,000 ft went into a spin and cutaway the main. The skyhook worked awesome and the reserve (PD 176) was out before I could look up. The thing worked great. Anyway, I never had a cutaway until last weekend and it was planned. It really gave me a safer feeling about the way I would deal with a mal in the future. You should check into trying one out someday. Clint D-24352
  7. I get free jumps when I do demos. I have done around thirty demos for high schools, middle schools, race car events, Vietnam Memorial Wall events, Armed Forces Day at Ft. Bliss, Balloon Festivals, Museums, etc. Added to the free jump is the publicity and we always jump smoke and flags. They are a blast. It is a real thrill to jump into an unfamiliar place. Clint D-24352
  8. Right on Dave, good summary. I too jumped the skyhook intentional cutaway rig at the AOTMB and it was really impressive. I was a little hesitant about chopping it at 2,000 but I had trust in the system and Pablo so I went for it. The thing works like a champ. The reserve was out before I could look up and it was an awesome experience seeing how I have never had a cutaway before. Big thanks to Egon and RWS. Clint D-24352
  9. I've thought about this before and I came to the conclusion that I would aim for the wind tunnel just to go out with a bang. However, now I think I will aim for my riggers car or the person who came up with this thread.
  10. Dude, the pro-track just didn't record the speed. The instructions say that it normally takes around 15 seconds of freefall to get a speed reading, but I have had jumps like yours in the 20-25 second range with no speed shown. It would be cooler if the pro-track said you opened higher than you exited at.
  11. I'm through!!!!! I said what I said and had my own reasons for doing so. I know the reserve will not fully inflate. The reason I don't use RSL's is because like Bill said, if something minor happens. John D-24352
  12. This thread asked if we use RSL's. I said no, and gave my reasons why. My whole reason for not using one is not because I am worried about paying for a reserve repack, I just said that jokingly as a side note. As far as: No shit!!! But, the topic is RSL's and reserves inflating. Mains don't have spring loaded pilot chutes. Yeah, you can do that if you act fast enough!!!! Anyway, enough with the pissing contest. I said what I said and I had some valid reasons for saying these things. Besides, I like to control what happens to my chute. I can pull my own damn reserve handle. I wouldn't mind the double freefall either. Now that was a joke, I had to say that so I don't get jumped on. John D-24352
  13. Bill, The whole point of cutting away the main if there is a dustdevil is so you don't get hurt when the thing picks you up. You can either get picked back up into the air or dragged. Neither of which would be fun. The reason not a lot of people at our DZ use RSL's is because we don't want to have to get our freebags and reserves put back in and waste $35.00. I don't think we are being too wrong to do this.
  14. What's up everyone? I chose Don't have one, don't want one. The reason is because I live in the southwest desert and dustdevils are everywhere on hot summer days. There have been times where they have come out of nowhere and have done some pretty screwy things with are canopies. One time, a dustdevil hit one of our jumpers as she was landing and it picked her up 40 feet in the air and threw her like a ragdoll. Luckily she only broke her back and femur. Anyway, standard procedure at our DZ when encountering a dustdevil on the ground after landing is to cutaway. With an RSL, you would get pretty messed up and have to pay for a reserve repack if you didn't get too hurt or killed. John D-24352
  15. Yeah, that sounds pretty good, but is it PINK?

    Hootie Hoo

Are you with the Knight's? I heard they started freeflying. That is pretty cool that the Army is supporting that.
  17. Maybe the humor should not have been so up there considering we are talking about incidents that took two fellow skydivers lives. If you look in Laura's profile, you can see that she is from Zhills and probably didn't appreciate the comment. Anyway, I got your sense of humor, but it wasn't at the best of times.
  18. That was the shit!!!!! Was that Luigi Cani?
  19. Atleast they give Good Stuff an ad at the end. Greg is crazy. I talked to him at Eloy last Christmas and he said he had a wire connected to the rig and his body the whole time. He said Javelin custom made it for him. I thought that was a little strange because he switches from his hands to feet quite a bit while holding on.
  20. What's up man, I feel the same as Aggiedave. I think fully elliptical chutes should be used by really experienced jumpers. I am not saying you aren't, but at 36 jumps, there is still a lot to learn. That is my honest opinion. If your DZO said the 135 Hornet is good for you, go for it. Building experience on a semi elliptical chute will be good.
  21. He ended up touching down about 10 feet before the hanger and then jumped up and planted his hands and feet on the wall. He left four huge dents and the owner almost kicked the shit out of him. Mike had just gotten that Sabre 2 120 and he was getting his swoops down. This particular one was kind of cross-wind and he wasn't use to that. Anyway, the cameraman was using my camera and he put it down at about the time the canopies shadow went up the hanger. That really pissed me off, because that would have been Real TV shit. Anyway, Mike now has to fix the hanger or the owner will fix him.
  22. No, use me, use me, use me (Clint Swooping $1) I ended up hitting the target. Or you can use my friend Mike who ended up hitting the hanger. Click on them in order. John D-24352
