easy - it depends. sorry cant be any more help but it really will depend on the contract negotiated between the seller and purchaser. Given that planes are so expensive there will probably almost always be some form of formal contract in place. In the absence of a written contract the actual transference of legal ownership of the plane can again depend on a number of things such as how precise the agreement was and how each side were to pay/act. Basically the plane ought to remain the legal property of the seller until its delivered or collected. (if collected and crashed that’s the buyers prob, if crashed en route to delivery MAY be the sellers problem. However, depending on the agreement and what the buyer has done, they may well have an equitable interest in the plane even before they take delivery, or even before they have paid anything. DONT ask me questions on the difference between legal and equitable rights to property.... that’s a whole subject in its self. [Legal = the paper rights, equitable = the right to have (at least some of) the paper rights] Given so many variables im afraid it would be difficult to actually give a response. If you were to narrow the question a little I could answer... but probably wouldn’t as I may be answering a REAL situation.

yeah but there they're charging over a hundred for the vid. from what Ive seen of video pools at competitions, camera flyers simply get their slot paid for

Relative work is what hardcore skydivers call those anoying weekends where they have to take time to visit the damned relatives

im looking forward to receiving my new wings in the next week or two - fully loaded with tie die, rings, cut in laterals and yes, even the free embroidery on the side panels. Oh sorry, were turning this thread into yet another "wings rock" thread arnt we... I know putting other ideas in your head will piss you off initially (I was set on an odyssey - I even ordered one then heard about the wait time and converted to wings. Im confident I made the right choice, irrespective of lead times. Take a moment out of your life and have a look at other rigs on the market, you may well decide to change your mind.

you should ALWAYS do this - the club in which im involved with and the national body to which it is affiliated do NOT let you go anywhere with them unless you do this. the biggest cost is for repatriation. this is where you are fucked in a hospital bed and want to get sent home before you physio starts in 18 months time. this costs hundreds of thousands of pounds - get insurance

I just bought my buddy a used cypres off e-bay with 11 months left on it for $75. Thats $15 for a years useage and he doesnt even have to pay for any maintainance costs. His rig's even up for re-pack at the same time that it runs out.

contact iain firkins - president of the BCPA. He has all the details you need chairman@bcpa.org.uk or mentor@bcpa.org.uk for someone who is specifically directed to sorting out just this problem. Have the union do a risk assessment - Rugby ALWAYS comes out way ahead of most other things. At our uni, skydiving was the safest because of all our regualtions. The other thing is make them aware that they do not insure you to do it nor have any reason to try. You get third party insurance from the BPA and there can be no legal liability for the union under any circumstances. Our union gives us insurance which covers us for jack shit - it covers us to get to the DZ in a car/minibus - as soon as your on a DZ standard insurance goes out the window. Try lowering your bid - dont ask for susidised jumps ask for other help - they may just be penny pinching. Also go here - they have a guide for starting new clubs and dealing with arsy unions: http://www.bcpa.org.uk Come meet me and the rest of the BCPA at cark (i see its your home DZ) for the BCPA freshers meet between the 17th -19th oct. There will be loads of other universities there to meet and also get help from. See you there

I don’t know if the following is HOW the vigil works... but it is ONE way in which it could. I admit the patent is very very confusing, and I’m someone who’s job is to interpreting the English language. Lets start with what it knows: *The vigil knows how high you start your dive from *It knows how fast you are falling and monitors changes in speed *From these two bits of information it can work out your altitude *It knows how high you want the AAD to fire *If it knows where you are and how fast you are falling it can predict how long it will take reach activation height at your current speed. *It can tell if you change speed through pressure readings and recalculate to adjust its the time it predicts you will take to reach activation height. *If you exceed this time frame... you have reached activation height and its time it did something. *The fact that you change speed between different dives or even over the course of one dive doesn’t matter as it is constantly monitoring your decent rate and mapping your position in the sky relative to your activation height. *Changing exit heights are irrelevant as it simply changes its calculations based upon the height at which it KNOWS you exit. This system appears to differ from the Cypres in one key feature - the way it uses its ability to sample air pressure. The Cypres uses this ability to simply say "I detect and air pressure of X therefore I must be 11000ft high... when the air pressure = Y I must fire". The Vigil appears to use its ability to say "I detect an air pressure of X... a fraction of a second ago it was Y therefore I’m moving Zft per second. Given the fact that I know I started at 12,000ft, I must now be at 11000ft. I want to fire at 750ft. At this speed I have X many seconds till I have to fire. After another fraction of a second it samples again and performs the whole calculation over again to predict an updated time to activation. I am unclear if the Vigil also uses the same system as the Cypres as a secondary way of determining its height - kind of as a back up. I may be wrong, but that’s how I read the patent Time will tell which method of working out activation height is the more reliable

Information on skydiving related injuries
mr2mk1g replied to thechad's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
on www.howstufworks.com they give you a good intro into how skydiving works that your co-workers will be comforted by (its fairly accurate) and give some stats. They figure you have to do 17 skydives or more per year to equal the risk of riding in a car. I dont believe this stat to be correct (I think its a far higher # of skydives) but it will comfort the average wuffo. -
(I take it its second hand) Get them to send it to a reputable rigger/loft/shop who can act as an intermediary. If the intermediary is happy the kit matches the description they/you send the money and when its cleared the intermediary releases the kit to you. If the seller is reputable they should agree. Be SURE you are buying the right size kit. Find someone at your home DZ with that size AND make kit and try it on before you buy.

German 120way record is cancelled
mr2mk1g replied to SimonFreeFly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Clicky:www.fscdaedalus.de and a rough translation A sad hello here from Dubai, If you yet does not sit, do it please. We get Daedalanten grey hair at the latest now, because it occurred supergau: The Dubai 120er will not take place tomorrow. The expiration of the events is described below in all details. For us this is for the first time the largest erdenkliche disaster and we now as fast as possible will work to bring your damage on zero or better! You get your money naturally back. It does wrong you to us so a disappointment to prepare terriblly. Here everything was prepared, with more air-conditioned luggage-resounds, bar in the Swimmingpool, beer for 1,50 euro and all permission for flies. However all nothing uses, if the president of the emirates said 4 days ago no (see below). We had to today an option on a 50km removed island zuspringen. This unfortunately smashed itself in the Arab bureaucracy. Therefore this refusal comes unfortunately so late. You have the now following options: 1.Du remains at home and the full amount is refunded. 2.Du comes to any time during the planned stay. The flights booked by us are transferable. Selbstbucher get 80Euro refunding. Tel. 06995968814 Mrs. Castellino or 02594942930 Andrea impact tail it would result then at costs: 360 euro for the flight and per night 25 euro for the hotel. On Friday 26. and on Saturday 27.9. can be jumped. If we are more than 50 from the Antonov (30 euro), if less, then from caravan! (with more than 80 record possible, oh the latter little grimmiger humor is still there). Us please immediately about changed flight data inform. The hotel here is nicely, (very much Springer-been suitable) however no more than one bath vacation with 32Grad warm sea waters in a landscape such as Eloy. Ask attempt as much as possible affected too ones to inform. The Daedalanten The events: Permission for flies of the Antonov on 18000 Ft was for a long time in the apron in writing given. At the end of August decides the government because of, equally long well-known to grounden World Bank meeting (on pressure of the secret services) the Sportfliegerei. The ziviele aviation authority signals however a special permission. To include after one week distribution of permission with the edition the ministry of the Interior. Ministry of the Interior gives permission. The whole moved more highly. On last Saturday there was a meeting with the president!! the emirates. This said no! It was a promise to the Americans and other states and it can therefore no exception make. On Sunday Dieter flew to Dubai. By the island Quesm was signaled that jumping would be possible there. Back and forth, Arab style and 2 hours ago ago came the message, permission only possible if 20 days before requested. Out, conclusion, end! -
Am I the only non-human skydiver?
mr2mk1g replied to pinkpanther's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
sorry no - there was a stuffed teddy bear that skydived with his own rig and lead in his limbs to keep him stable - he even had an aad in case he got away from his "instructors". I'll try to find the link somewhere yours looks like it came first though -
its the exact same dimentions as the Z1, its a direct copy. I've tried on boths and they fit the same. Thats going to be good for some and not so good for others. The oxygen is the most comfortable full face i've triend on. We all have different shaped heads - helmets will fit different people in different ways. I dont like the havok - one of the main reasons people like full face's is because they offer jaw protection in landing accidents. you lose that with the havok... and damn its big - you look some freaky star wars storm trooper in that thing

I dont plan to die - seems like an awful amount of effort for not a great deal of reward. Simply isnt worth my time if you ask me.

had to repeat myself: swim with dolphins.... MY ARSE! Im mean yeah, sure it would be cool... but the NUMBER 1 thing to do before you die. I'll say it again... MY ARSE! "Fly my pretties, fly!!!" :- Mr. Burns

no one cares. Racism isnt nearly as prevailant over here - it stems from the influx of asian people during the 50's after the emipre was sold off as opposed to being built into our society for generations like it was in america. Not saying it doesnt happen (someone hand me some flame proofing please) and in general there is a significant social divide - but mostly were just too lazy. Apathy can go a long way

Saw a magazeen this morning advertising roof racks. The front of the mag had a 4x4 with a roof rack on the top of a clif and a guy getting his paraglider off the roof rack. Just off the clif was another paraglider... then down below... whats that... thats right... its a PARACHUTE. Yes, they'd simply photoshop'ed in two guys under para-wing-type-thingies and figured it would look alright. it wasnt even a BASE rig just some shmo under a canopy.
-
What she said - order now... the lead time is approx 6 months.

How much do you trust your cypres?
mr2mk1g replied to Harksaw's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
lol... those guys are the exceptions to a LOT of rules -
perhaps I should stick my IPAQ under my reserve flap and run some wires out of it under the pop top. I'll then ask someone at the DZ this weekend to give me a kit check... see what they say. "oh yeah... thats a beta version of a new AAD that the japs are bringing out... shh though... no one's supposed to know about it yet It works as GPS for spotting, gives you a route map to the DZ, lists all back issues of parachutist, the mag and playboy, and automatically updates all cypres debate threads onto its web browser...theyre working on a little servo attachment so it can steer for you if your unconcious"
