I love the kinda discussions we get through here - few other web sites can have such varied topics.

Looking for a cool flame pattern effect on a new pair of FF pants but cant find a co that carries that kinda design. Anyone know one that does? A URL would be useful. Cheers.

I think the best bit is that they run up to the edge of the building, obviously with no wing suit on and then out pop the wings. I bet a lot of wing flyers would kill for a suit that automatically deploys itself, would save them waddleing about like penguins and if the suit could automatically reverse the deployment mechanism it would make mals easier to deal with. Perhaps the makers of Toom Rader could let on how they managed to develop the suit so radiacally.

Does everyone use their Altimeter always??
mr2mk1g replied to Skyvixen's topic in Safety and Training
Its iligal to jump in the UK without a wrist or chest mounted alti. Audiables dont count. Ive only jumped once without one, at perris this easter (accident) - didnt find it a problem and to be honest I rarely look at mine. Wouldnt like to jump without one deliberately though. You never can tell what might happen up there - its a safety device like any other. This sports about minimizing risk not eliminating it. You might not need it every jump but you'd kick yourself if you ever did and you didnt have one. That said, I cant really think of a situation where you would need one and jugement alone wouldnt cut it... perhaps if your short sighted and lose your glasses... yes if your short sighted and are prone to loseing your glasses then always wear one. -
UK -- Crimewatch to feature skydive murder -- Press Clips
mr2mk1g replied to quade's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yes, the cameraman was my buddy as were the other two on the three-way. The footage will be shown in full and there have already been a couple of clips of steve dirt-diving. The other two members of the three-way were involved in the filming of the reconstruction and have warned us that there are gonna be some fairly significant continuity errors. The producers simply didnt want to listen to them when they tried to point out that its hardly propper to see them wandering arround in the background with their canopies over their shoulders when the "gearing up" scenes are being filmed. Will have to wait and see how realistic its gonna be. I would second what other people have said in the incidents forum about Crime Watch usually being non sensationalistic and true to life. -
FUNNY INCIDENTS IN FREEFALL.
mr2mk1g replied to stilettodude's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Oh done that many times, jump out, full-face wide open. Just glad I replaced the crappy plastic bolts the day I got it. Best one was when I exited with the visor fully up in when doing a washing machine exit. Funny sensation to feel "wind... no wind ... wind... no wind... wind... no wind..." getting faster and faster. I couldnt exactly let go to shut it as I was hanging on to my mate and it was his 69th (thus the 69 style exit position) so just ignored it and held on till the forces got too much. Snapped it shut as we broke appart without a second thaught and continued with the dive. Seen some stupid footage of two friends fighting over a 4ft foam tube in freefall. The describe it as playing "chicken" as they get tossed arround the sky on either end of the tube b4 someone gets fed up of being smacked into by their buddy and gives up to track off. As far as having a tandem passenger be sick on you, Im told its not that uncommon. Remember a tandem master friend of mine landing totally covered in it - except where his passenger was strapped to his front - you could litterally see the outline. -
they work as far as I can see, on work PC as well as home. Maybe your PC doesnt recognise JPEG's

Join a university skydiving club (whether your at uni or not) - you will get the coaching for free and subsidised jump tickets. I notice your in cleathorpes so try Leeds or York . Both are really good clubs . You are paying way over the book price for coaching jumps too, thought Hibbs were better than that. I've also heard that some Uni's offer a Skydiving Degree. It covers flight aerodynamics, stuff about the physics of canopies and air flows etc and is basically aeronautical engineering based. Not sure what career its aimed at though. Guess it would be nice to have if you were trying to become a pro canopy tester but then you HAVE to have 1000's of jumps to get that sort of job.

I've found some ear plugs in my local chemist. They dont stop the pressure on your ears but have a bleeder valve built into them so that they slowly allow the pressure either side of them to equalise. They're designed for wuffo's to use on planes. I figured they would work well for skydiving as it would mean the sudden pressure change you get going up and down is changed to a very gradual one. I've never tried them so cant comment on actual effects but the theory of them appears to be sound. (no pun intended) Other than that, dont take chances with your ears - you dont get replacement sets. If the problem is connected to your sinuses, try a full face helmet once your off AFF. I used to get probs with the 120m/h wind rushing up my snoz that would have me spitting crud for hours till I bought my lovely full face. (edited for pun)

Has anyone ever jumped a Beverley or know anything about them? I guess Im going to be talking to old timer military jumpers here as they died out in the 60's. Seems to be a great plane though, basically a SkyVan on drugs. See attached pics - used to carry 2 light tanks or 70 paratroopers (inc 30 in the tail section!) Ive been in one in a museum and the pilots sit above you an a second floor to allow for more cargo space in and out of the rear exit.

Excellent customer service. Almost exact copy of Z1 parasport. Not got the build quality, although appears to give very good protection and is extremely comfortable. Dont expect to break or anything, just appears a bit rough round the edges. Visor bolts required modding as ones supplied were very poor. Otherwise great. Look out for Cougar II as I hear all my current worries have been adressed.
