  1. getting in shape is a good idea. It will save your life through not having to have a heart bypass. Packing right is a good idea - you wont have a hard pull. IMO it does not matter if its your main or your pc you are PACKING A MAL if you dont do it right. A hard pull you have to use your reserve for is a mal. Pack right to stop mals, work out to get healthy.
  2. I know what you mean... I'm still working up the guts to turn to a judge and say: Lionel Hutz: "you're honour... I move for a bad court thingy" Judge: "You mean a mistrial?" Hutz: Yeah! That's why you're the judge and I'm the law... talkin' guy. Judge: The lawyer. Hutz: Right." Simpsons rock, movies that get technical things wrong will always annoy those who know about that specific technical aspect.

    Cypress

at that price its cheeper and less hassle to buy new - but hey, he has no money at the mo but should in 11 months time when this cypress dies.

    Cypress

I've done 100 jumps without one, never bothered me and I didnt consider myself to be any more "in danger" without one. That said, I just bought one with 4 years left on it for $200. I'm buying my mate one tonight for $70 that has 1 year left on it. They are about.... and some are cheep.

Very few people would not jump without an AAD. Its very common for people to start off without them, wich is a shame given their use to newbies. Get one if you can... if you cant, dont ground yourself, just be careful, eg some DZs in this country say no FF without an AAD cos of the increased risk.
  6. we checked that very point because of rumours about it b4 we bought. We made it quite clear that this was a specific skydiving holiday and thats all we would be doing. The package we bought from them was unlimited skydiving. I cant speek for what anyone else go or come to think of it, the price for individuals cos we cut a deal as there were about 20 of us buying.
  7. did you get my friends PM beach? Was he of any use? He says you should feel free to mail him if you have any more questions given he's been through this himself and is a skydiver.

    Kurupee?!

copied from another thred started today about kurupee (this written by me) All I can say is WOW They are very good - workmanship is excellent. I got the comet chaser design on FF pants with black legs and red and yellow flames. Looks sweet. The stitching is very good quality and I dont expect any problems. The material is a heavy poly-cotton the same as Symbiosis suits use on their FF suits. Theres a good, thick, double fastening velcro on the ancles and the waist band is double poppered and quick-snap closed. Theres a STRONG velcro fly and a velcro pocket on the right thigh. This pocket could do with a tab or somthing on the velcro as its very difficult to open (cool for FF but a pain on the flight line for tickets). I love the trousers and will be ordering a full suit off em too. My two skydiver housemates are gonna place orders as is another mate in the club. Instant popularity. I was very impressed with the 3 WEEK WAIT!!! Thats from order to landing on my doorstep (took about 2.5 weeks!!) Low low price, quick turn arround, good workmanship and quality. Added from thread: Apparently others have had stitching problems after 60 jumps though
  9. not really a great deal of exposure to it but thier customer service seemed to be fine - i got an e-mail within a day of placing the order confirming it and then another when they'd made the pants and were ready to ship. These weren't just standard ones either but were personal "hello" type mails.
  10. oh yeah - im 190lb and 6'2" so wanted something slow. The pants are not the baggiest I've seen, but then I have friends who dont like their pants cos they're so baggy they make sit/stand very hard to hold. people with more exp than me have told me the bagginess is about right. Just specify to them if you want them baggier than usual, but I would go with their standard design On a 1 - 10 scale of bagginess theyre an 8.

  12. it took over a year to get through raps (only about 24 jumps) with the weather we have here and my uni/work committments. Still - i learned soooo much more about the sport like that. Must have spent at least 4 days at the DZ per jump and another 10 club meetings per jump. well done on the license, have some fun then... can you spell WARP?
  13. 1: Take a look at the some manufacturors web sights for info on how big a chute you should have. Their recomendations are based on wing loading which is a lb to ft2 figure. You take your exit weight (your weight + kit = approx 215lb) divided by the size of canopy in square foot. So if you were jump a 215 canopy your wing loading would be 1:1. This is about the right wing loading for a novice jumper, although this will depend on your skill level so the only real place for advice on this point is your instructors - they may recomend something a bit smaller if you are ready for it and want something with a bit more longevety. Ask them. You ask about in a few years time... this will depend a lot on how many jumps you make. Many people want to downsize for various reasons and I would expect that after a hundred jumps or so you may want to take small steps down from a 1:1 loaded canopy. Therefore in a few years time you could be jumping any number of different canopies based upon your experiance and direction in the sport. 2: dont swoop - at least not yet Read DZ.com talk to people watch people screw up practice everything, and practice high again, the best source of this info has to be your instructors - they know you. 3: You can join a team at any time. If you join one off AFF they will be a very novice team, thats all. I would strongly recomend joining a club (if there are any arround you) - you will get loads of support and progress far faster than jumping as an individual. Get some RW coaching. Then figure out what kinda team you want to join - there are a lot of very different discaplines.
  14. Answer: Untie your shoes. Why you ask, because it gives you something to do before you bounce. I was told just take one shoe off and shove it up your ass. The FAA will never figure it out

    710 blonde

reminds me of the error message we give all those little problems only women seem to come up with on PC's. We call the "ID-10-T errors". written down it reads "idiot"
  16. WOW!!!! That's a great tip!!! COOL - now I'll never confuse my ass from my mouth again
  17. try jumping in england and not cloud busting we still have rules though - we must be able to see the dz from opening and must be able to see A bit of ground through the cloud somewhere. We dont break those rules. I think you did the right thing and it took far more guts to say no to an entire plane load and DZO than it would have done to jump. Did you get your ticket back??
  18. buy them - they're 50p each - ask at your DZ shop You cant make em for that and why take the risk of introducing shoddy workmanship (not to disparrage your skills or anything)
  19. I've said it before and I'll say it again - have fun, and make sure to post pics
  20. my rig is not done four more weeks so I am told same as my flat suit come october end all my new kit will be here my colours will match so when in next spring that we get to meet and jump I will look the shiz
  21. hey alanab when you coming to london? how's you arm doing ? So many questions I'm just keeping up with friends So don't think me rude
  22. Oh not this again Im always compelled to post I should just give up Still its fun for some So I'll give it my best shot Hell it kills some time
  23. I'll second that idea - would probably work quite well so long as people are a little self regulatory. It would probably free up discussion on incidents leading to a better learning tool too as people would not be worried about chatting on an incident thread.
  24. started out in Perris - did 5 jumps in a row and nailed it. the next few jumps i did with friends I was stable stationary and started to try controling horizontal movement. I was very current at the time though as it was in the middle of a 2 week skydiving holiday. I havent tried it since untill a couple of weekends ago when found I had lost all my skills. Now Im trying to regain the solid stability I had. If you want to learn - do a lot of jumps in a short time to master the core skills - its a lot better than a couple of jumps a week.
  25. bollocks to em - we all have the same genes, some people are just a bit more tanned, I have NO time for anyone with racist tendancies. Saw a great advert once for sun cream. Was this really really black guy saying how he would recommend X brand of sun cream to us poor weak whities who cant handle the sun - how does he know - cos he uses it on the soles of his feet.
