  1. the above link seems like it does that - but I havent read the full policy doc yet - im with columbus direct - that covers everything i need and cost just under £100 for the year. It also works as standard travel insurnace and will even cover me en-route to the DZ (that includes my home DZ). I can even bolt on equipment insurance if wasnt covered by my home insurance.
  2. Would that be before or after everyone got shit faced partying..... After it sort of just happens Amazon While everyone's shit faced partying - would be more fun
  3. There are a number of people who survived without anything abover them - see the link. The chap you're talking about was a Nicholas Alkemade who flew in the same squadron as with my Great Uncle who was a belly gunner. http://www.manbottle.com/trivia/Terminal_Velocity.htm_answer.htm I do a lot of recruting at uni for my club - by far the most common question is: "how far up do you go when you open your parachute?" Oh, and you know everyone thinks we still use ripcords.
  4. Hey, its not my theory - I was just applying the theory that Harksaw wrote about. I personally don't find it to be a terribly compelling theory - I dont consider the "out of africa" move a couple of million years ago was by any portion of the then society, merely a general growth of population up the East coast of africa and through the middle east that took advantage of what were excellent natural resources at the time. There would not therefore have been any genetic difference between those who moved out and those who stayed in africa - it would simply have been those family units on the fringe of the expanding population base that were forced further and further north by the population explosion and therefore increaced competition closer to the rift valley.
  5. I have very similar insurance - it covers hostpital bills etc and repatriation (very very important if you ever skydive overseas as shipping you home in a hostpital bed costs hundreds of thousands of pounds - make sure your policy covers it). The only important thing to note is that I've never seen one of these policies that will pay out to you or your family for injuries - they are for medical bills only - NOT for compensation! If thats all your looking for then under £100 is a GOOD price - its about what I paid for mine. (Oh, and for some reason many exclude camel riding - bored days on weather hold examining each others insurance docs descovered this over easter)
  6. Will prob introduce Alanab to a couple of DZ's when she's in England Would like to meet Faber - his stories of when he was in England crack me up, sounds like a funny guy. Some of you skychicks sound HOT - but im not here for romance.
  7. I qualify as a barrister this month (thanks - we can all do with a self pep-talk every now and again - this thred is just what we need) NO NEGATIVITY PEOPLE - I WANT TO SEE GOOD SHIT ABOUT YOURSELVES!
  8. there are no dolphins are there edit - damn that took me a long time - too much porn too much porn...
  9. but you then start tracking back up the jump run and run the very real risk of tracking into someone in FF or under canopy - dont do that when you jump with me.
  10. true, but if you apply the theory it would be those black people living in africa who had an adventurous side that left and migrated throughout the world. Their skin colour then changes white because of environmental changes but they are psychologically still more adventurous. Their adventurous nature is not linked to their skin colour at a genetic level, but only by virtue of the mechanism by which they became white.
  11. yes, condoms only. I'm not to though when I know them well, and even then I still make sure we use a contraceptive of some kind.
  12. so change your 1st and 2nd warning altitudes - this can even be done on the plane - (just so long as it calibrated itself on the ground)
  13. Ok everyone - see above, I already retracted that and said I was just repeating something told to me ages ago which Councilman24 points out is common a scare story for newbies. *** (Didn't you know we use that rib story to scare newbies.) Guess I was repeting urban/DZ legend told to me in training when I said that then. ***
  14. Guess I was repeting urban/DZ legend told to me in training when I said that then. No DZ waiver would cover you. You could have the borrower sign your own waiver, but then you'd most likely have to charge them (at least a token amount) to make the contract valid. Even then, in many countries you are not able to legaly exclude your liability for causing someones death through acts of your own negligence. Therefore even if you have them sign a 100 page waiver, if your negligence causes them death or personal injury - you can be sued. The american legal system in its infinate wisdom, has decided that you can exclude all liability, (so I understand - not US lawyer though) which is why you have huge DZ waivers. The answer is then, so long as you are in the US, charge for rig hire and have a huge ass waiver, you can ensure your not gonna get sued for killing someone. Other than that you arnt gonna get sued by anyone if its not your fault eg not an equipment fault. I prefer my method though - I keep my kit safe enough to jump, be it my ass or my mates ass.
  15. Hey tricky - our clubs should meet up some time... (nothing to do with any of your members with special powers of course)
  16. We've noticed this in our club too - I don't know why it is. I've hardly ever seen any non-caucasions who jump, some students who dont seem to keep up with it, a couple of tandems, but virtually non who jump regularly. I cant figure why this could possibly be, I've never come across racism, and its even less common in this country than some others arround the world. We have a joke based on this observation... and please take this in the light hearted way it is intended: "white men cant jump... black men don't jump".
  17. legally - it depends what country your in if they bounce at terminal - the rig would be fucked, there would be ribs through the reserve tray and all sorts of damage to it. No one would certify it. If they had a hard PH landing - well theres one on e-bay this week (if not it might have just finished). The former owner lived, just, and it needed a new harness cos the old one was screwed on impact. edit: cant find it now - must have sold
  18. Played it many times - was captain of a team which won the regional junior championships and worked a summer as a marshal on one of the countries foremost arenas.
  19. Yeah - I wear sunglasses under my full face (except for RW when I squint)
  20. I hear that theres no better view of stonehenge than from the jump run of Netheravon DZ.
  21. well its from back in the day when british engineering meant something... now well...
  22. love the stirling - good british engineering
  23. Yeah - tight to your shoulder and role with the blows. I did a lot of trap and game shooting when I used to live in the countryside with my parents. When I was out in Perris over easter had the pleasure of a day shooting a .44 Magnum and a .357 Magnum (both flaming hand cannons - litterally, we have them on film and in freeze frame you see That thing was awsom - you felt the blast wave pass your face - I'll post some pics when I get home from work.
