Another Legal Question - Neighbor McNasty
mjosparky replied to kkeenan's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Star & Pop, I stand corrected. It’s just that jumpers spend so much time being their worst enemy it seemed like the most likely scenario. Maybe someone should wait until dark, low crawl in and whack his ass. -
About Security Equipment in Skydiving... Pease help me...

Another Legal Question - Neighbor McNasty
mjosparky replied to kkeenan's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Evidently he thinks it is. Now who do you think made him feel he needed to spend the money and time to put it up? Like I said, I have never seen a “Farmer McNasty” that was not created by the very people who complain about him. I am willing to bet it was not an over night knee jerk reaction on his part. It probably took some time before he felt the need to act. Has anyone approached this guy and in a clam manner tried to work out something? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
Another Legal Question - Neighbor McNasty
mjosparky replied to kkeenan's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I doubt that this guy just woke up one morning and decided to be a moron. In most cases I have seen when relations between a dz and their neighbors break down it is because of the jumpers being assholes. The actions of one or two jumpers can cause a split that can take years to mend. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
Baton pass jump / 50th anniversary
mjosparky replied to pchapman's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
A little history on the baton pass. The white one is the only true Krueger “balloon suit”. The others are just cheap copies. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
Congratulations on making your first night jumps. You are right, they are neat. Couple of things you might want to give some thought to though. If your profile is correct at just over 100 jumps you were doing freefly rw, at night with a camera. That’s throwing a lot of variables into the mix. It seems these are just the situations our friend Murphy looks for. Just something to think about. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Going rates for gear assembly and reserve packing
mjosparky replied to padu's topic in Gear and Rigging
That's what I was thinking. You start screwing around with connector links and Velcro around lines and before you know it you have a $200 added expense making repairs. If you want, lay it all out and look it over. Take notes on questions you have and when you take to your rigger ask him/her to explain things to you. Learn everything you can about your gear but don’t do before you learn. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -

You need to sit down with someone and have them explain to you the difference between “pack volume” and “down sizing”. They are apples and oranges. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

That seems pretty cut and dries to me. But like you it frosts my ass that they don’t have the stones to carry the weight without trying to lay it off on someone else. GQ is the only other company I have seen put it in writing like that. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I was getting 500 to 800 jumps out of a Sharpchuter. With Dacron lines I would only replace the lower control lines once during this time. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Paragraph 11(a) of Advisory Circular (AC) 105-2C, Sport Parachute Jumping, states: The assembly or mating of approved parachute components from different manufacturers may be made by a certificated and appropriately rated parachute rigger or parachute loft in accordance with the parachute manufacturer’s instructions and without further authorization by the manufacturer or the FAA. Specifically, when various parachute components are interchanged, the parachute rigger should follow the canopy manufacturer’s instructions as well as the parachute container manufacturer’s instructions. However, the container manufacturer’s instructions take precedence when there is a conflict between the two. Part 65.129 states: No certificated parachute rigger may— (f) Exercise the privileges of his certificate and type rating unless he understands the current manufacturer's instructions for the operation involved and has— Take your pick. If you are asking for the manual you probably don’t meet the requirements of Part 65 without having the manual on hand. Or you could pack it according to the Javelin manual since it trumps the canopy manufacture. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Flying into the wind gives give you a higher “air speed” but a lower “ground speed” If you fly with the wind you will have the same “air speed” and an increased “ground speed”. Sparky http://www.aerospaceweb.org/question/instruments/q0210.shtml My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

And you probably look pretty cool in your $225 carbon fiber catch me kiss me cookie helmet. Hell it even comes with 2 pockets for audibles. The problem is it is little more than a fashion statement. It is not tested or certified by any recognized testing agency that I know of. The Protec on the other hand is tested and certified by a number of agencies depending on the sport it is designed for. They are also used by several SecOps teams for some insertion jumps http://www.pro-tec.net/bike/main.html http://www.pro-tec.net/skate/main.html Click on Technology on both sites. Riggers!! what do you do with the main????
mjosparky replied to tsalnukt's topic in Gear and Rigging
I do not pack mains. If I am cornered and forced to do one I charge the same for the main that I charge for the reserve. As a rigger I am held to the same standard on any canopy I pack and so give them all the same attention. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
