  2. The 22 lb. is an arbitrary figure that is used for testing under ideal condition. A rig can be packed today and tomorrow exhibit a pull force less than 22 lb. or greater then 22 lb. Sparky 4.3.2.4 Primary Actuation Device/Ripcord, Actuation Force Tests: A load at the ripcord handle, or equivalent, of not less than 5 lbf (22.2 N), applied in the direction giving the lowest pull force, nor more than 22 lbf (97.9 N), applied in the direction giving the highest pull force under normal design operations, shall result in a positive and quick deployment initiation on all tests. A minimum of 10 pull tests is required. For chest type parachute assemblies, the maximum pull force shall be 15 lbf (66.7 N). My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  8. Sorry Larry, Ellsinore is private property and a commercial business. The property owner, the business owner or the manager can ban anyone for any reason. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  9. It’s not the DZ’s call. The body will stay put until the coroner is done with his/her investigation. It’s that way with a fatality in a car wreck a plane crash etc. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  10. Larry, I don’t think that hook turns should be banned. But some of the people that do hook turns should be banned. Like all forms of human behavior there will always be the small percentage that can’t seem to get their head out of their ass. Believe it or not there are people who get banned from bowling alleys for inappropriate behavior. The bottom line is it’s the DZO’s crib. What he says goes. 11. Some of the very early pins were made from wire formed and silver soldered. But then came the stamped curved pin made from sheet stock. To make it look better Hank had them chrome plated. The chrome started to flake after awhile and would cut the loop. That’s when they decided to make them out of stainless steel. Hank then polished them in a bullet brass tumbler full of walnut shells to smooth them out. Every so often I would go by his shop to shoot the shit and he would put me work counting them out in stacks of 100 for shipping. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  12. Sun Path does not hold a TSO issued under TSO-C23b. But they do have on in both TSO-C23c and TSO-C23d. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  13. The curved pin was invented by Hank Asciutto before Tony started jumping. For many years they were only made by Dennis Trepenier, both members of Al Kruger’s Capt. Hook and the Sky Pirates. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  22. From what I can see in the pictures it appears that the damage was heat induced. That would lead me to believe it is caused by the slider slamming down over the riser at a very fast speed. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  23. It looks like a cross between an annular and a parabolic.
  24. I understand it stops at the housing; that's my point: is this no longer considered an entanglement hazard? (I guess I mean particularly with a very unstable deployment.) (Sorry if I'm being dense, guys.) Andy, A ripcord stop was on the main ripcord. If you had a problem you would drop the main ripcord and go to the reserve. This left the handle and 8 or 10 inches of cable hanging in front of you where the reserve was in those days. In the case of RWS rigs the one that may or may not make it through the housing is the reserve ripcord with the reserve coming off you back. And Rob, Hank never bothered to patent the curved pin.
