  1. If you are using a curved pin, have the bridle routed correctly and can close the container without the use of a PLD a PC in good condition will extract the pin. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  2. Most recent gear is tested and certified to the following: a. Test weight = Maximum operating weight limit x 1.2 b. Test speed = Maximim operating speed limit x 1.2 However, test weight must be not less than 264 lb (119.7 kg) and the test speed must be not less than 180 KEAS (333.4 km/h) for reserve and emergency parachute assemblies; for dual harness parachute assemblies for test weight must not be less than 480 lb (217.7 kg) and the test speed must not be less than 210 KEAS (388.9 km/h). That makes the MOW at least 220 lb. and MOS at least 150 KEAS or a little over 170 mph. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  8. This is from PD’s web site on the Storm. Sparky A note about control line length: The Storm was designed with a bit of slack in the control lines for several reasons, some of which are explained in this document. We recommend keeping the control lines at their original length. Some jumpers have shortened their control lines by changing the point where the toggles are attached because they felt the slack in the control lines was excessive. If you believe your control lines are too long, we suggest you read an article on our web site titled “Getting the Best Performance From Your Canopy,” which can be found on the PD website in the informational articles. If you have read the article on “Getting the Best Performance From Your Canopy” and still want to shorten your control lines, you should only shorten them by an inch or two (2 – 5 cm). Then jump the canopy a few times to see how it performs. There should always be some slack in the control lines when the brakes are released to allow the canopy to perform the way it was designed. Keep in mind that you may need to lengthen the steering lines again after a certain number of jumps to keep them at the correct length. Also, remember that modifications like this should be performed by or under the supervision of a qualified rigger. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  20. That would depend on the air space you will be jumping in and the mood of the local FSDO at the time. Some FSDO’s I have dealt with require a waiver on any off dz jump in their area. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  23. He was continenced about it, unlike most of you. "With only 122 jumps, I am sure it is hard for you to convince others that your unorthodox actions were correct. However, I have always subscribed to the philosophy that, if it worked, it was one of the correct possible answers. You can tell them that Brian Germain agrees with your choice. Glad to hear that you saved yourself a repack. Remember to always open high and know your altitude when you implement any fix. If it doesn't work, you still want to have enough time to get number two out. Blue Skies Brian" That's what constructive is.
  24. Why do you say that, Mikey? The excess brake line looks to be in pretty rough shape. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
