    300 Ways

I don't think they would make you pay if you jumped during the attempts. A 300 way can't be on every load and the DZ can't just shutdown while debriefs and dirt dives are going on. Go to Eloy, jump at Eloy, watch the 300 ways when they're up, repeat. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Does Eloy generally not allow the public and other spectators onto the dropzone? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  5. I jump a Safire 189 loaded at around 1.3 or 1.4 depending on how you measure it. Anyway, my openings are usually soft and on heading. I think the only hard openings I've had are where I was a bit sloppy with the slider. I use a regular Psycho pack, and don't bother doing anything special with the nose. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

GRRRRRR! I leave soon, but I don't think it's soon enough. Saturday morning at 9. Something like that. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Nope. Not one bit. I live in Delaware, so Rantoul is actually a few hours closer. Now, if I could just be there NOW. I WANT TO LEAVE NOW! - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  8. The certification weight limit is also covered in the TSO. I believe that TSO-23C is 254lbs and TSO-23D is 300. Search the site for reserve and tso - the information is out there. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  9. I believe that PD reserves need to be returned to the factory after 40 repacks. The factory tests the reserve to make sure it's still airworthy, if it is they send it back to the customer. Do you expect you'll be flying the same reserve for 13 years? I don't. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  10. Earlier this year I had a ride on a Raven II. Today I bought a PD 176. I could have bought a Raven for less. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  11. Uh. Reserves are supposed to open quickly. As a matter of fact I believe that all reserves certified for use in the US are required to open in 300 ft or less. This is a good thing. If you deploy your reserve high enough (1600ft) a line twist or two shouldn't be much trouble. To use the RSL or not to use the RSL is your decision, but be sure you have all the facts before you make that decision. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Accuracy and landing in a small area are two entirely different things. If you can hit the peas 10 out of 10 times in a large field that's great, that still doesn't tell me you can set it down in someone's back yard. There is a difference, I'm afraid it's a hell of a difference too. I'm guessing, by this statement, that you've been the one to read about it in the incident reports. I think once you've seen it, up close (too close) and personal you might change your tune, then again, maybe not. So, you take advice from the S&TAs at your DZ, that's nice. Just for kicks, why not take some advice from the folks at the Evolution canopy school. Head on out there with your 149 _and_ your 119, see which one those guys think you're ready to fly. If you come back here and tell us that Jim Slayton personally told you you should be flying the 119, that you're just that Goddamn good then I'm sure everyone here will stop busting your balls. Stay safe.... - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

    Grrr. ASC Spam.

The MX record for skydivecenter.com points to inbound.registeredsite.com. A quick search of news.admin.net-abuse.sightings tells us that this is nothing more than a spam company. Why am I not surprised? Fuckers. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  17. Few rigs are, but at least one popular rig is rated to hold our large wannabe jumper. In reality I guess he'd need to lose 25 pounds or so. This from the Sunpath website, click on 'news'. "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

OK - Who jumps at the Atlanta Skydiving Center? This just showed up in my email: I have never been to the Atlanta Skydiving Center, I've never jumped in the state of Georgia. I have never been to their website, I've never asked them to send me anything, ever. At least Yahoo! automatically filtered this into the 'Bulk' folder. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Why? I seem to recall that one can carve a larger canopy as well. I'm curious too, how many jumps do you have? Over there in the Freeflying forum you said this: Is it 150 or 250? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  23. I've seen this idea kicked around before, the general consensus seems to be that in theory it's an OK idea, but to bring this from idea to reality would be nearly impossible due to the political issues surrounding the issuance of a new license. Think about everyone who's already qualified for the new license, who gets to be "E1?" Maybe issuing random license numbers could solve this. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. The whole ugly mess is here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=161331;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread I don't have a problems with keeping the night jump requirement for the D, however I would like to see canopy control/coaching made a requirement as well. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 25. What everyone else said and more... Any good freefly jump will involve points or docks. Learn them first on your belly, learning to dock on a FF jump will be significantly easier if you can already do it on your belly. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
