  1. WHAT? If they won't let you jump in just clothes then I say you keep fucking up their jumpsuits until they do. That's absurd! Have you actually asked about this? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  2. This is getting out of hand. It seems that the recording industry is now going after ISPs that allow their clients to access pirate music sites. They can't get the site so they'll get the ISP that allows its customers access to the site? Things sure have changed since the days of gopher and shell accounts. You can read all about it here - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  3. So you can't jump without a suit? I'm pretty sure you can, and I'm pretty sure you can learn to 'fly' without it. When you finally get the suit there will likely be a small adjustment period, but that's not a big deal. One thing here is certain, if you don't jump you'll never learn to 'fly' and have no use at all for the jumpsuit, except maybe to impress your whuffo friends. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 4. It's the K36 ejection seat, quite a piece of work really. If I recall, the K36 is a single handle system that upon activation shatters the canopy, repositions and secures the pilot for ejection, ejects with a stabilization system to keep the seat in the proper orientation, and will not activate the parachute system above 16,000 ft. Last I heard the US was in talks with the Russians to acquire this technology. It's quite amazing really. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  5. Uhm. What about other people? 5 acres isn't much land, a bad spot could put that skyball through someones roof. I'm no expert, but that sounds like trouble to me. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  7. I don't know why, but this bugs the hell out of me. Definitions ripped from dictionary.com to aviod confusion. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  8. This bears no weight. The pilot would have burned the hole in the balloon with or without jumpers. It's not our fault that he screwed up. I'd believe that, but I have no sympathy for the pilots. I can't imagine that that much propane is that expensive, besides, they're more than making their money back on us. Does the spiraling cause extra wear and tear on the balloon? It may not look pretty, but does it actually damage the balloon, the basket, the suspension lines, or any other hardware? If so, I'd like to know what and why. Yeah, and I'd ask him about the wear and tear on balloons if I thought it wouldn't somehow lead to why Roger Nelson is a crook and a dick. Well, they're making money and apparently they're making enogh money to cover the operating costs (their time, wear and tear, etc...) and make a little profit on top of that. Be it flying jumpers or flying tourists they're doing it for profit and they're succeeding. Consider a balloonist takes two hops of 5 people, that's $900.00 for approximately 20 to 45 minutes of actual air time, not a bad deal if you ask me. Were the morning loads ever scratched? Most of the evening loads flew as well, I think only two or three were cancelled due to wind. The balloonists may complain of wear and tear or anything else about flying jumpers, but at $90.00 a jump they're making more than enough money to cover their costs. I respect the pilots for taking time out to accomodate us, but I don't want to hear about how flying jumpers is bad for the balloon, especially with the money they're making. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 9. Care to elaborate on that? I can't believe that at $90.00 a person for a ten minute ride they weren't making a fortune. Any balloon pilots here care to explain the 'hells we put through their balloons'? I just don't buy it. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  10. Are these the bags that Sunpath has been putting in some of their rigs? When Sebastian XL was CrossKeys a while back they all had similar bags, or is that something different? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  11. Sam should manage to stay current. Sam should know the limits of his abilities. Should Sam upsize? I think that really depends on Sam. I don't know that there is or isn't a right answer for that question. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  12. IIRC == If I recall correctly. Nothing to do with packing. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  13. Well, since every canopy is different then yes, I can tell the difference between landing my Safire 189 and landing other canopies, elliptical or not. Why is it so difficult for people to understand that there's more to flying an elliptical or high-performance canopy than just hooking it in? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 14. Because an F16 flies pretty damn well even without the afterburner. I know dozens of people who fly high-performance canopies because they like the way they fly and they like the way the land. None of these people, not a single one, does 'high-performance' landings. None of these people, not a single one, would trade their Stilletto/Crossfire/Vengeance and even an FX for anything of lesser performance. You don't need to hook to fly a high performance canopy and flying a high performance canopy doesn't mean you have to hook. Get it? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 16. 500 jumps vs. 200 jumps makes you a more experienced jumper, the D license has nothing to do with that. I don't think that simply upping the jump numbers for the license gives more credibility to the license, upping the requirement does. By upping the requirements I mean things like demonstrated canopy skills (other than simply landing in the peas), demonstrated air skills, etc... Upping the jump numbers without upping the stakes doesn't mean much I'm afraid. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  17. It seems odd that you're the only one who's mentioned receiving this email. I'm thinking it's hoax. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  18. Got me a tent and I stay at the DZ unless a better offer comes along. I live between 45 minutes and 1 hour away, it's too much of a pain in the ass to leave on Saturday and come right back on Sunday. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  19. I think that BillVon already mentioned this, but don't rush to the Sabre2 thinking it will cure your landing problems. It's likely that the Sabre2 will present an entire new set of problems. The Sabre2, while having a slower decent rate, will have more forward glide (speed). Are you ready for that? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  20. I have a female friend who does this all the time. The advice she got, "Grab the box!". It works too! - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  21. Speaking of professionals, Michelle, have you thought about heading over to the Evolution canopy school and getting lessons from some of the best in the world? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  22. That's a shame that she found herself in a bad place with the lack of short-term disability and has passed the cap on her insurance. Let's hope Lynette has a speedy recovery. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  23. It took me almost 100 jumps to get the landings really dialed in on this canopy, now that they are I think it's one of the sweetest canopies in its class. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

You have 5 jumps and you're already thinking about buying something in the 100 to 130 range? Sheesh! Good luck in this sport. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
