Quite possibly the worlds worst text editor. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  2. Probably because history has shown us that, with a few exceptions, people with low jump numbers aren't able to handle higher wingloadings. A Sabre 135 @ 1.4 might seem just dandy on a conservative straight in approach and any pilot might be able to sink it into a back yard. What happens when things start to go wrong? On a 135 @ 1.4 things happen quickly. Is someone with 70 jumps ready to deal with that? Is someone with 70 jumps that good? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  3. No. Maybe it can, maybe the reserve closing loop could snap too. In a world where nothing is certain we need to plan for what is likely. I think, given the documented history of the Cypres, that it is very unlikely a unit will misfire while being powered on. However, if it makes you feel safer by pointing the reserve away from you when you power on your Cypres, then by all means, do it. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. CASA questions

Of course Bill a little common sense is certainly required. My point was, and still is, there's no need to waste time in the door. The pilot is aware of the winds and for smaller groups their advice usually works. Be considerate of those behind you. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

    CASA questions

[rant] I have _never_ been on a Casa load where exit separation was aa problem, why you ask.... Because even though the pilot says "no more than 3 seconds between groups" people take that to mean (a) watch first group leave and wait for what appears to be decent separation, (b) setup in the door, (c) take grips, and (d) count to 3 and exit. Because a Casa is screaming on jumprun this is a recipe for half a load landing off. Make sure your jumpers understand that 3 seconds (or 5 or 6 or 7) means exactly that, 3 seconds between exits, no less and certainly no more. 7. Actually, yes. That's nice, but with people starting to learn to swoop earlier and earlier it's important that they learn proper technique on something a little larger and a little less responsive, something that's more forgiving. After they've learned at least the basics on a Sabre, Safire, PD, whatever, they should consider the move to a larger elliptical and progress from there. No need to start them off on a hotrod when they can't drive the family wagon. Know what I mean? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  8. I disagree. People don't need a hot rod to learn to drive agressively, similarly, you don't need a swoop machine to learn to swoop. Start your swoops on a less radical canopy, make the transition to something hotter when you're really ready. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  9. Glad to hear you're OK - BTW: This is why the reserve has a freebag and not an attached D-bag. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  12. It's nice that the Wolmari pack works for you, but don't blame the problems you've seen on the Psycho pack. I've packed my canopy more than a few times using the Psycho pack and it opens beautifully every single time. There is probably a relationship between the cutaways you mention and an _incorrect_ Psycho pack, but done correctly the Psycho pack will produce openings as nice as the PRO or Wolmari methods. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 14. As long as we're talking about personal attacks, tell me why this isn't: Viking, a bit uptight lately? My suggestion: * step away from the computer * step away from the computer * discover the outside, you'll like it, it's full of real people, and nature, and skydiving.... - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 17. I can't remember what they taught about bag lock in the FJC, but I've decided that should I experience this particular malfunction I will cutaway. 19. Actually, since the rules are the 'accepted principle of what is right and wrong' in the profession it is _not_ my interpretation. It still fits exactly the dictionary definition of ethical. I'm going to leave it at that. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  22. Actually, it is the very definition of ethical. Dictionary.com defines ethical as: Being in accordance with the accepted principles of right and wrong that govern the conduct of a profession. It seems that you might think it's not fair, but since fair is totally subjective that doesn't really mean anything. Want to/Need to hire a player coach? Do it. 24. Agreed that it most likely won't go anywhere, but realize that no matter what the outcome we as consumers are the ones getting screwed. The action will cost the recording industry and the defendants, do you think those costs won't be passed down to us? Fuckers. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  25. At this stage in your jumping career you'll be jumping with a coach right? Learn to jump without the suit and leave any fall rate problems to them. If indeed your fall rate is too fast without the suit you'll likely get some good pointers on how to slow it down without the suit. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends.
