  1. Why does everyone want the profile to include a complete bio? It seems people aren't happy if a given user doesn't include his exact number of jumps, canopy choice, reserve choice, wingloading on both canopies, age, what he had for breakfast, etc... If you want to know anything about someone else in the dz.com community then just ask. Those who care to share will, those who don't won't. For whatever it's worth, mine is about 1.4 to one. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

    Your age?

31 going on 12. I LOVE IT! - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  3. It's been mentioned already, but you might just want to keep your current size and move to a fully elliptical canopy. You'll find the turns are quicker, but more importantly it will dive further and faster and that will give you longer swoops. There's no reason to downsize unless you've really mastered your current canopy. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  4. You've managed to scare me with this one, why would you need two different sets of emergency procedures for two different canopies? Please explain. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  5. Shoot one of the bad guys, they shoot you, problem solved and now there's one less bad guy. Yeah, it's not playing by the rules, but really, you're being held hostage, there are no rules. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

    Grrrr.....

If you want to save yourself the surcharge of a bounced check you can always cash it at the bank it was drawn on, they won't hand over the money without sufficient funds. Back in college I had to do this a time or two. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Really none of my (or anyone elses) business, but did you get your money? Speaking of financial responsibility, there's a reason I'm sitting at home on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Fuck him, goddamn liar. Take his keys and lock him out until pays up. He'll learn quick. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  9. Agreed. With Vectran the canopy starts off in trim and stays in trim. The biggest argument I've heard against Vectran lately is that it tends to just snap at the worst time, without showing signs of wear. Well, Vectran _does_ show wear, you just need to know what to look for. Ask around if you don't. Vectran, IMO, is a superior product to Spectra. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

    Yahoooo!!!!

Dude? That's wrong. You bring the beer whether prople are jumping or not. If there's no jumping that just means you get an early start! - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  11. Uh, no. The Cypres samples air pressure at the ground every 30 seconds, by the time you've made it back to the loading area they Cypres will consider that to zero AGL. READ the Cypres manual, there are detailed instructions on how to deal with an LZ at a different elevation from the loading area. Don't have your manual? Try here: http://www.cypres-usa.com/ While you're there be sure to look around, there's lots of other valuable information about the Cypres, things you should know. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. SEX

    * In the back seat of a car, while my friend was driving. * On the green at the golf course behind my house. * On a picnic table in a park during a warm summer rain. * Got a BJ in back of my friends car while he was driving, then while he was getting a speeding ticket, then while he was driving... I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones that come to mind... - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  13. Actually 80 pounds isn't that much at all. I can fall with people more than 100lbs lighter than me. Jumping with her might be good practice for the both of you, you'll learn to slow down (and be able to jump with more people,) and she'll learn to speed up a little bit (same benefit.) Oh, and just so it's on topic, keep the jumpsuit. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  14. Just one hard opening on the Sabre2? It's possible to make any canopy open hard, including a Spectre. If I were you I would go back to the Sabre2 and a put a few more jumps on it, find out is it really a problem or did you maybe not pay attention to the slider while packing. I put about 30 jumps on a Sabre2 170 a while back and never had a hard opening. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  16. I understood Bill's comment to mean keep your gear in top condition to prevent a pilot chute in tow. A loose closing pin is just asking for a whole new set of problems. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  18. After the reserve is out the container will change its shape and it's possible for the main to wiggle out regardless of pin placement. Do you want a bag, lines, risers and possibly even main floating around after the reserve has already inflated? Get rid of the main and all that goes with it and you eliminate another possible problem. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  20. Yeah, here's some advice, don't do it. You'll load that canopy at a little over 1.2 - not such a great idea at 25 jumps. Live (or stay injury free) to skydive another day and start looking for something in the 190/210 range. It shouldn't be difficult to find a larger rig with a Sabre 190/210, a Tri 190/210, etc... - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  21. My point exactly. I suspect that one might be able to induce a pilot chute in tow with an extraordinarily tight closing loop and a damaged pin (think a rough spot or gouged area in the pin or maybe a severely bent pin.) This of course can be prevented with proper gear inspection/maintenance. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  22. This should serve as a warning to all those who think you only need to pull _one_ handle. Pull them both, an RSL is no guarantee that a cutaway will deploy your reserve. I actually heard something about people really thinking they only needed to pull one handle over the weekend. Scary shit. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  23. Really, how tight would it have to be to prevent the pilot chute from extracting the pin? I can't imagine a situation where the pilot chute was functioning correctly and couldn't extract the pin. Anyone have a real case where they've actually seen this happen? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  24. If only to reinforce the point, everything that Bill said about the dangers of a spaceball and your experience level are 100% accurate. Take that as a bit of information that might save the life of an innocent bystander, the business of the DZ, and a little personal or private property. How come you can only jump on loads with students? Have you considered changing dropzones? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  25. Dan, Will this be available as a modification to existing canopies, or is it a completely different canopy? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
