There are two halves of a huge event like the WFFC. Some come to skydive. Some come to PARTY! I'd be prepared to do alot of the later! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Oooooh! Pink, swirly things again! Great pic, Jim! "Candycanes R Us"?

Dude - that would be 98.6 Nah! Turtle, don't you read the above posts? Rectal temperature is normally .5-1 degree warmer than oral temperature (which is normally 98.6 degrees F). So your ass temperature would be 99.8! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

lori, i had a headache all weekend at perris. i didn't really make the connection to the insane heat (thought it was just the creeping. ha) but it makes sense now. it was like a sauna out there * I spoke to a client of mine today (he lives in Perris) who reported that -his- temperature gauge (located outside in the sun) registered 104 degrees F! So, we -were- being cooked while we played. Another sign of 'cooking' was a nice yellow banana that somebody forgot and left on the porch in front of the team rooms (by the creeper area) on Sunday. We watched this lovely banana as it actually totally blackened in 20 minutes....starting at one end and ending at the other. We didn't need time-lapse photography for this one! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Picture attached: You can though see the green grass that was under my sister's plane. In the attached (cropped) picture - the purple line surrounds where their plane was. The red line surrounds the Antique Grand Champion Jenny - Flown by someone from the airport where they keep their plane. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Ok...now that same 'legless' orange and white skydiver grew legs in this one, but NOW he's got a blow up ball between his legs?!? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Thanks! The UK wins! Our temperature is measured in a doll house! No wonder people are passing out in the sun! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Will do! He and Jana, his wife, are one of the great, good couples at the DZ these days. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

yes. to get an accurate air temperature reading you have to be out of direct sunlight and away from objects that would prevent air circulation. HA! Tricks you say! How DARE they! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Ooooo....pretty pink smoke! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

You mean THIS ONE? Looks like great fun there again this year! My sister and her husband take their Luscombe there each year....camp out under the wing and have a wonderful time! (that's not a picture of -their- plane, but theirs looks -just- like it.) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

For your slumber....an armpit temperature is .5-1 degree lower than oral.
-
Nahhhhh.... Wrong answer, since rectal temperature is normally .5-1 degree warmer than oral temperature (which is normally 98.6 degrees F). So, if they 'took it up the ass', their reading would be -higher- than it felt outside, not cooler. Next? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

God, it was ~HOT~ today at Perris!!!! My head hurt and I had to escape into my trailer and the air conditioning in the late afternoon! The HEAT just wasn't letting up! I had already downed several bottles of water, too! News reports on the radio were reporting people getting heat exhaustion! I swear it was 107+ degrees outside in the sun but this Weather Report at March AFB puts the high at only 96.8 degrees! Where the heck do they take the temperature readings?!? In the SHADE?! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Not sure what models you might have in Romania, however the Canon line of SLR 35mm is the most popular as they are hardy cameras and have a remote access port on their body. And if you're looking digital...well...Canon does a great job at that as well! Hope this helps. Welcome to the game. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Deuce, Perhaps it's my vision, but in this picture is the skydiver in orange and white (blue helmet) minus his/her leg(s)? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Damn, Deuce! You got video of it? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Wondered when you'd see the 'light'. When I re-read Hoover's article, I just had to scratch my head and wonder. B.C. and my team does it different than the article. Just like you describe here in your 2nd post on the subject. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I made a few jumps last November with Blind John @ Perris. The smile on his face in free-fall was priceless. What a great experience to share.

ltdiver replied to soilman's topic in Skydivers with Disabilities
RSD is very painful indeed! Especially in it's acute phase. I've worked with several patients with this, the latest with RSD of the leg. So sorry that you've had to suffer and deal with this! As far as skydiving instruction (welcome btw!), a full face, hard helmet will not be allowed for tandem. Too much of a risk in hitting your TM's head (think: teeth) with something as tall (taller than your head) and hard as a full face. AFF is a possibility, but you'll have to talk with your instructors to see if something like this might be within their comfort level. Ya see, we want to 'talk' with you in freefall and your -eyes- gives us alot of information on how you're doing. Have you considered Static Line? Sure, the wind would be hitting your face while out on the strut (if you're in a small plane where you have to be out in the breeze until you let go of the plane), but an Otter would have you protected until you launch out. Then, you'll learn how to steer and control your canopy right off the bat and be ahead of most others who choose to go the AFF route. After you get cleared for solo freefalls (perhaps as early as 10 second delays), you'll be able to use your fullface helmet without a problem. Seems like a good scenario, no? I learned by S/L (static line) and it worked great for me. Cheaper than AFF or tandem and got me in the air every weekend. Even if the DZ you're choosing to learn at only advertises AFF/Tandem, you might be surprised that they have S/L as well. Perris does (has the hook up at the back of the plane still), but they rarely do it. No real need. Yours, I -know- they would make an exception for. Good luck! Let us know what you decide and how it goes, k?! -
I noticed a change in my hearing acuity when I started a new job that employed manual blood pressure cuffs (instead of automated, digital ones). I -could not- hear the heart beat when monitoring a patient's BP! This scared me enough that I started wearing ear plugs on the Otter on the way up. Within 6 months enough sensitivity came back to my ears that I could hear the faint beat of my patient's rhythm again. I now wear ear plugs every time I'm in the plane. A simple protection with positive results. Any loud, consistent noise (music or not) WILL damage your hearing. Take action NOW and stop the loss. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
